I've recently decided that since I loved all of DFW's essays, and was much less crazy about his fiction (I've read everything but that, I think), it will not be necessary for me to read it. Don't know if anyone saw this: I don't have a link to it, but the Westboro Baptist Church released an amazing press release about a week ago, calling Vassar College "the whorehouse of the Ivy League", and stating that "the men and women who attend this filthy institution are wholly given over to the fag agenda". My newest baby cousin was born on the 10th, 9lb 5oz. It's amazing how much sturdier she feels to hold than the last few babies, all in the 7lb range!

Yeah, he's in the 8th grade now, and he's still a little monkey! Although, taller than me, so not so little.

I posted this on Facebook the other day, but it definitely belongs here, too. We do these pictures every year, I'm pretty sure this is 2001 (back in the days when "age order" and "height order" were the same thing). The oldest is now a 22 year old college grad, and in the past 2-1/2 years we've added four more girls and a boy to this generation. Look for an updated version on 12/26!

We've got a lot of great pictures here, but I'm still not sure that we've got enough VC representation to make up a whole calendar. There are a total of 8 people who've contributed 34 total pics, but... I'd still like to see a few more entries. I was hoping that we'd have a different VCer for each page. Please note: I'm not counting the folks who posted Wilco-themed art in this thread (please go back and read my previous posts if you haven't yet, there's a reason we can't use those). Everything about Dolly is so hyper-sincere, which almost makes me love her all the more for all the effort she puts into looking so fake. Stephen, on the other hand, is all about the fake, which makes it so touching when he's sincerely appreciative of his guests. The song with Dolly was priceless, and I'm loving Hobbit week. I think the musical spots next week will be gems, for sure.
