Some have been popping up since Halloween, and I know there are Thanksgiving ones out there now. Since this will be the last time that I'll be able to drag the kids along with me be asked by the kids to take them to a Harry Potter movie, pre-Thanksgiving weekend, I'm going with a Deathly Hallows theme this year. Who else is in? Also: start thinking about Hanukkah/Christmas/Kwaanza/New Year avatars now! Don't put it off until the last minute!

I've gotten a nibble from someone who's willing to help out, but we'll still need your pictures. Please post anything you'd like to offer up. Thanks!

My nephew, one of his soccer teammates, and a couple of little old Irish ladies were all at the parade with me, so that could definitely be arranged!

p.s. If I don't get a decent response to this thread, I'm going to put together a calendar with a dozen pictures of a bunch of little old Irish ladies, from my vacation this year, and call that the VC 2011 Calendar. Or maybe my nephew's soccer team. Or the Giants victory parade. I haven't decided yet. Don't try me, I'll do it!

After a timely nudge from the fabulous Ms. Preferred B, I'm kicking off the planning discussion for a VC 2011 calendar. For anyone who missed out, you should know that last year's calendar (info here) has given me tons of enjoyment throughout 2010. And I hope that the folks whose pictures were featured in the calendar enjoyed sharing their talents with us. We're looking for a volunteer (or two or three) who might like to take on this project for 2011 (I did a pretty bare-bones job of it last year). I'm going to contact dixiecupdrinker, who was very helpful last year, but anyone else who

Congrats, Crow. Enjoy it for now, we'll be back tomorrow night. -
My nephew, along with probably 95% of the kids in his school, is going to be Brian Wilson this year.

But we've got the beards! I've got standing-room tickets to Game 1, but I'll be passing those off to some fans who are much more deserving than I am. -

Being interviewed after his win the other night, Tim Lincecum referred to his catcher a couple of times as "Bengie" instead of "Buster". Would be great to see who gets in whose head with that match-up. -

And Aubrey Huff? Does his happiness (and mental health) mean nothing to you? Seriously, that man is off his nut. -
Seriously, you people with your 5 hour workouts and P90X dealies are scaring the bejeesus out of me. I've always been fat. I was born fat, I was a fat kid, a fat teenager, and for the past 20+ years, a fat adult. I've been on tons of diets over the years, but always gained back any weight I had lost. So a year ago, I made a bet with my sister (with myself, really): I gave her six checks for $100 each, dated for the next six months. Each month that I didn't lose 5 pounds, she could cash the check. At the end of the six months, she would get to use whatever money she'd made off of me

Yes. Those books always make me sad. I'm going to read the new one anyway, even though I know this going in. Saw him reading from that a few months ago.

It's weeks since I've been on VC. Lovely to log on and be reminded of our Miss Natalie.

Oh man, I didn't know there was Guinness in those! That explains my behavior. Those things were seriously delicious. And went very well with Dirty Old Town.

Yep, San Francisco, too.

I let the project get way away from this time around, Paul, but yeah, it's lots of fun to do. Unfortunately, I only got 18 (or maybe 19?) lists this time around. Although since everyone got 50 picks this time, compared to 20 picks for about 50 people the last time, we ended up with about the same number of votes! If you look at the bottom of the list, you'll see that there are a couple of hundred albums from the last round that didn't make it this time. And when I get a chance, I'll figure out how many new ones made it on this time, that weren't on the last master list. We also just sc -
Apparently he had lots of legal troubles, domestic violence charges, etc. And yeah, I'm sympathetic to anyone who suffers from depression. But anyone who takes anyone out with them, or tries to, or somehow creates a situation that could be dangerous to anyone else is going to lose a big chunk of my sympathy. Not to mention doing this in front of a crowd of people, including lots of kids. It was not just desparate on his part, there was some aggression there, too.

I seriously looked for the "like" button for this. -
Someone at Live Nation needs to figure out how to turn off these auto-generated e-mails. I had tickets to this show, but couldn't make it. This morning, I got this e-mail from Live Nation: Seriously? There's no way they could have re-worded the e-mail for this particular show, before sending it out?

I'd feel worse about being so late with this, if it appeared that anyone at all had even noticed that I hadn't done it yet. For those of you who participated, I appreciate your enthusiasm, and the thoughtfulness that went into your lists. As always, I'm impressed with the breadth of musical tastes on VC. I'd like to have seen a few more people contributing their top 50s, but I know I didn't lean on people as much this time as I did the last go-round, so I'll definitely take at least partial responsbility for that. Next time, though, I want 100s of lists, damn it! So, without further
