That is very cool. Congratulations! Yeah, I've heard horror stories from parents who took plane trips with kids back in the days before pretzels became more prevalent as snacks.

I could do with a bit of that! Thanks.

This looks interesting. What did you think of it?

I think when they were doing Hoodoo Voodoo in March/April 2006, it was a three-guitar face-off. The thread from the 3/22/06 Des Moines show seems to have been lost in the board crash from right around that time, but I took this picture at that show, and I'm pretty sure that's what was happening here.

I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Iron Man last week. I suspect FSM is the type of thing that you need to see in a packed theater, because while I could appreciate some of the jokes, overall it just left me feeling deptressed. What's the movie I'm thinking of, is it Natural Born Killers, where they do a scene with the timing, lighting, laugh track, etc., of a sitcom, but they're saying absolutely awful things? That's kind of how I felt about this movie. It was like they meant it to be funny, but... ugh. Iron Man, on the other hand, I really enjoyed. I'm not generally big on comic boo

If you're into this kind of thing, the Magazine Called Sunset is having sort of an expo while you're here. I've never heard of this before, but it could be cool.

Yeah, Mare Island was also decommissioned. And were you ever at Hunters Point? That's also got development stuff in constant discussion (currently by the same group that's working on TI), but the clean-up out there is going to be a monster. OK, this has definitely taken a turn away from Someone Else's Song territory.

The tweens in my viewing group weren't too happy when that thought was expressed prior to this week's shows. The #1 Archie Fan in the group actually took the result pretty well, considering. Some crazy cougar sat down next to me on the bus this morning and expressed her love for "Cookie" for 20 straight minutes.

The huger buildings are used as soundstages now, for movies/TV shows that are filmed locally. My nephew plays baseball out there every week, SF Little League has some really nice fields. And there are some people living out there, but much of the island just feels deserted most of the time. It's supposed to be "developed" at some point, with hotels, recreation areas, etc., but it looks like one of those typical SF deals that's going to take 30 (more) years to actually get anywhere. Last year, Saturday was supposed to be electronic/dance stuff, and Sunday was the poppier day. The offi

You would not recognize the place. It's 100% civilian-ized.

D'oh! I would have scrolled further if I weren't on my way to catch a plane! I will say though, that I searched for "treasure" in this forum, and came up with nothing. So I blame the search function. And society. Oh, the indignity!

http://www.apeconcerts.com/index.cfm I went to one day of this last year, and loved it. They just announced the line-up for this year: Saturday, September 20, 2008: Justice :: TV on the Radio :: Goldfrapp :: Hot Chip :: CSS :: Antbalas :: Aesop Rock :: Amon Tobin and more Sunday, September 21, 2008: The Raconteurs :: Tegan & Sara :: Vampire Weekend :: Spiritualized :: Okkervil River :: The Kills :: Tokyo Police Club :: Dr. Dog and more It's a beautiful setting, and was really well-run last year. Here are my pics from that day: http://www.flickr.com/photos/maudiemc/sets...57602048

God bless Phil Chevron. -
For anyone interested in conspiracy theories galore, there's a whole forum devoted to them on the televisionwithoutpity.com message boards. Just go to the AI board, then look for the "Grassy Knoll" forum (seriously!).

Is your problem with any downloads, or just with torrents? If you go back to Analogman's post and check out the link to the Wilco Live Archive in his signature line, you'll find a ton of shows that can be downloaded with using torrent software. Most of those shows are in .flac format, so you will need to convert them, so if that's a problem for you too, then yes, a B&P is probably your best bet. Post a request in the trading forum (Greatest Lost Track of All Time) if you don't get a response here. Oh, and if you need help with the technicalities of dowloading/converting stuff from the

I don't know why I haven't read his books before. I'd heard such good things about the non-fiction (plus: Calexico [the band not the VCer ] loves him!), and everything I'd heard was true. Across the Wire next, probably.

I'm about half-way through this, and loving it. I'd read his The Hummingbird's Daughter before, which was also amazing, but in entirely different ways (the difference between fiction and non-fiction, for one...).

There's already been a ton of good stuff mentioned in this thread (and like Louie B and the Chicago thread, this one isn't the first ) but I'll add a few more, too (and I'm sure I'm repeating myself on some of this stuff): The Mission District: 826 Valencia, the murals in Balmy Alley, amazing restaurants along the Valencia Street corridor (or, cheap burritos ), good music in a small club at 12 Galaxies, the tiny performance space at The Marsh, indie movies at The Roxie... Lots of good stuff, not necessarily touristy, but a cool neighborhood. All of this can be googled, or PM me if any

It's available in two places on BT, and "Team Loper" is the Owl site, so if you can't BT, check back there.

Interesting. I usually shy away from anything self-helpy, but I've been drawn to this one. May give it a shot.

If you were a woman, and I was gay, I would totally marry you. Why I oughta...

A. I'd like to reiterate that I agree with ikol on this one (do you all realize the magnitude of this?!?),and that the distinction he's making was clear to me from the get-go. B. Does everyone in this thread have me on ignore?

At one point I was supposed to be helping Jesse with the BTing of those, but I never really did much with it. Glad to hear that you guys are picking up that slack!
