  1. OK!!! Amongst other things that I'm not getting to in a timely manner these days... The final-final total for the contribution to Planned Parenthood in Austin, in honor of Natalie, was $2,000.00. Thanks so much to everyone who participated. I know that Natalie would be thrilled, and that she'd give you all big sloppy kisses, and then probably say something inappropriately filthy. I also wanted to remind you all that even though the official-official VC funds have been sent in, there's no reason that folks who feel moved to do so can't continue to make donations in Natalie's
  2. She's a jinx!!! It's the 102nd anniversary of our Big One, so the timing is nice on that. I was recently woken up by an earthquake, too. It's a very odd feeling, no doubt. Glad to hear that everyone's OK.
  3. Wow, good to hear that it was caught in time! I met Vanessa and Michael at Edie's, the night before that LRS last year, and had a lovely chat with them. So here are some get-well vibes from me, too!
  4. I'm first, right? I'd also like to point out that I've met the dog in evil horn's avatar, and he is every bit as cool in person (in dog?) as he looks in that picture.
  5. I would have sworn you were at least 10 years younger. Happy day, Mark!
  6. Very cool! See, just one more reason to carry sharpies in an assortment of colors at all times.
  7. I think I've seen them at 4, or even 2, but I don't know if there's a standard limit for all of the presales.
  8. Jeff Tweedy thought the same thing. He said it couldn't be done, but Mart did it! No word on the recording yet, but I'm guessing that song, at least, will leak out at some point.
  9. It turns out that Jeff and Kermit are close personal friends. Who knew?!?
  10. http://wilcoworld.net/tours/index.php I got kind of excited about this, thinking that I might get to plan another trip to NYC this year, and maybe even actually get to see Drew this time but then I realized that a: it's a Wednesday, and b: I've already got serious plans for that week.
  11. I just e-mailed Kate to tell her that this morning.
  12. I have a bunch of other pictures that need to be properly sorted through and organized, but for now I just wanted to get this one up here, of Mart killing it on Sir Duke, while Tweedy just sits back and enjoys it from our perspective:
  13. It was $2000 even. Sorry for being delinquent with the update. I've been traveling a bit, but I'll post more details soon.
  14. I disagree with every single thing you've said here.
  15. The three of us will be very half-assedly executing an awesome idea from Uyen. I'm anticipating having the same trouble with my bangs that I had last year.
  16. I just realized a couple of weeks ago that you're my friend on facebook.
  17. Because this comes up a lot, I'm going to just start posting this list in every thread. 1/29/05 1/14/06 4/8/06 (there was one more in 2006, wasn't there? I can't find the thread...) 2/17/07 2/24/07 3/3/07 1/12/08 And here's the sad story on the lost thread for that third 2006 show (which I took some time to figure out the last time I went looking for these): The archives cut off in December 2005, and the stuff saved here seems to start up again in April 2006. So the 1/14 show from that year is still there, because somebody posted in that thread again in April, but anything tha
  18. I don't drive much, so I never really notice exactly, but I think we've been over $3.00/gallon since about 1987 here, Mart!
  19. Totally. It was like she had no clue what she was singing about.
  20. So much of this thread is just pure happiness. Sorry to hear that some folks couldn't make it, though. A couple of years ago, I had to miss a show at the last minute, but I was lucky enough to be kept in the loop. I hope you folks who couldn't be there were bombarded with calls throughout the evening.
  21. Several of my friends and relations spent summers during high school and college working on the paint crew at the local elementary schools. That's sort of how they describe that job, too, more hi-jinks than actual work getting done. One of my cousins in particular would go out of his way to get out of actually working on the job, going so far as to come up with interesting (and highly environmentally-incorrect) ways to dispose of the paint, so that he could show the supervisor the empty buckets and pretend like he'd done that much painting during his shift. My sister says that the only thin
  22. My minor interactions with Billy Bragg have led me to believe that he is a truly decent guy, and entirely sincere, but also that it must be really exhausting to be Billy Bragg.
