Oh hell yes, I'm bumping it. In June, Berkeley Rep is going to be showing West Side Story, followed by a Q&A with... Rita Moreno! Maybe I can swing a picture with her.

I was on an Irish traditional music message board, and much like the geeky kids in high school who like to tell each other that they're really so much cooler than all those bubble-headed cheerleaders and jocks, Irish traditional musicians like to think that they're so superior to those flashy hot-shot Irish dancers. Since I was dancing at the time (although I'm not at all in the flashy hot-shot category), I went with the name "gogo" (as in... yeah, anyway...) just to be snarky. And then since my real-life (non-internet) "real" name already doesn't match up with my real-life on-all-the-legal

I saw them before the movie, for a lot less than that, and I've seen them since at progressively larger and swankier venues, and it's been worth it every time. The first time I saw them together was at a Glen solo show in 2005; he brought Marketa out to the piano to play a few songs with him, and he introduced her as "Fifi Lebowski". When I think about it now though, damn, she must have been young at that show.

Well, according to the site: "New shows are added 2-3 times/week; over 80 GB currently hosted. This page was last updated on January 24, 2008." Those aren't all Wilco of course, but it's still an amazing service that he's providing. Have you tried going to the trading section and asking for B&Ps? It's not the immediate gratification of downloading, obviously, but it's a great way to get shows.

Here's a thread from a while back that should get you where you need to go: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=32274

I watch American Idol: a. because I like cheesy crap. b. so that I can discuss it with my nieces and nephew, who all love it, and c. because it helps to have seen the show when I'm reading the recaps on Television Without Pity (I would be reading the recaps anyway, so it's nice to actually have a frame of reference). From the recap of last night's show, about the kid with the dreadlocks who sang Hallelujah:

Huh. And this is from the Mobile show, about Magazine Called Sunset:

I already chimed in on this, but I just have to say again: this is one ass-kicking list. Great job!

Yeah, I realized after I wrote that, it probably doesn't make sense for us both to be editing a post at the same time!

Fantastic! Thanks so much for doing this! I'll go in and see if I can take a swipe at the links, too.

I'm going nuts looking at Moxie's collages.

Mark, have you met ms yvon? She's on that same schedule! (Wilco/MMJ) PM her, and tell her I said hi!

I know I can't really "bump" a pinned thread, but in case this had slipped anyone's mind, I just wanted to toss a new post into it, for folks who check out recently-updated threads. I've updated the total we've collected so far ($1200), but we're still accepting donations, for another ten days or so at least. Thanks very much to all who've contributed so far. Also, for anyone who missed it, please check out Mel's post above, about a scholarship being set up by Natalie's sister, at her midwifery school. Another great cause which could use your support.

It was discussed in an earlier thread about primaries (or maybe earlier in this thread, I can't keep track!) about whether or not political parties should allow voters not registered with that party to vote in their primary. I think this would be a pretty good argument for not letting them do so.

I especially like this, from the end of the article: "...for us, this isn't a strange new way of living. This is natural and expected. But sometimes my friends kid me about it. They'll say, 'You're crazy.' " "A nice crazy," Patricia says." Interview with the Tolsons on NPR: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.p...toryId=87854102

We saw him here at the last Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, and he was amazing. Happy day to Doc.

Hey, welcome to VC! If you check out this thread http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=34061 which is down below in the Greatest Lost Track of All Time/Reflecting Off Of Your CD forum, it looks like someone has the show to trade as a hard copy, but it's not available for download yet. Keep checking back there though, when it turns up people will be talking about it there. edit: Oh and one more thread: http://forums.viachicago.org/index.php?showtopic=34009 (in Greatest Lost Track of All Time/In A Future Age)

For the sake of tidiness, I've merged several threads into this one. Most of the substantive stuff starts with solace's post, here.

I have to admit, I left that show quite early, for reasons not at all related to any of the sweet sweet goodness that was happening on stage. So, not that I recall, but it's entirely possible it happened.

They backed them up for a portion of the show here last November. I was quite pleased to see them.

Ha! I do that too! Yeah, the premium section is the bonus I get for being a frequent flyer, and I'm a United frequent flyer because San Francisco is a big hub for them, so more often than not it's as easy and cheap to fly with them.

I'm only 5'3", and I usually get to sit in the "premium" coach section on United, which gives me a few extra inches of legroom, so I'm usually not overly concerned with whether or not the person in front of me is reclined. And unless it's a redeye, I rarely recline myself, but in that case, you're definitely in the territory of "everyone is reclined". My biggest gripe is that because I usually like to have a window seat, it's really hard to get out of a row of three seats when every person in the row ahead of me is reclining. Otherwise, I say if the seats recline, unless there's a compelli
