  1. 9 - Agalloch @ Great Scott Third time seeing Agalloch, and they are another band who I'll more than likely make the effort to see them if they are in town. Tours used to be pretty scarce, and when they played the unlikely location of Bucharest Romania in 2010, that seemed to open the window for touring. Maybe getting signed to the excellent Profound Lore label also helped, but they've been in town three times in the last five years and that's something I can get used to. With the trademark incense burning in cast iron kettles atop stumps, leader John Haughm whipped his hair into action and
  2. .... I think I hit a snag in my plan, as any immediate posts made by me get added to the original post... so i will need to wait until someone else posts... maybe not! here's 5-8: 5 - Sleep @ House of Blues I've seen Sleep play about six times now though never w/ Hakius, and for once I didn't have to get on a plane to do it, or drive 5 hr into upstate NY, like the first time I saw them. This show also had the bonus having new material for the first time since they reformed, with "The Clarity" added to the set and sounding like a heavier OM. Pike was rocking the Goose Gossage 'stache, Cis
  3. sorry for the onslaught of posts that will follow, but I think VC limits photos in posts to 4... don't say I didn't warn you. It's that time of year, where I take a few long strides backwards and cast a look over the last twelve months of live music. I will be the first to admit that I'm fortunate to get to see so many great shows, most of the time for no cost. However, I'd hesitate to say 'free,' as it's certainly a pretty big net loss when you factor in gas, mileage, occasional parking fees, etc just to get to the venue, never mind hitting the merch table after the show and one or two a
  4. finally someone posts some bands whose members were born before 1980.
  5. totally. i got the sense that the entire city of West Memphis is creepy.
  6. I watched Paradise Lost: Revelations and Paradise Lost: Purgatory last night. that was some heavy shit. i think i liked the first one the best...it certainly had the best access and footage. 2nd really didn't do it for me. i never thought Byers was a likely suspect. it kinda bugged me that there was very little time spent on the kids' alibis, but after reading some more about it, i guess they didn't really have good ones. i am not sure how the confession of a teenager w/ a low 70s IQ that's obtained after interview for ~12 hours w/o a lawyer and only 45 minutes is recorded is worth anyt
  7. I've had it for months too but still haven't listened to it. the live show was immense... i can't imagine the recording living up to it. same thing happened w/ The Seer.
  8. Not heard but seen... In episode 9 of The Affair, the oldest daughter has a Wilco poster in her bedroom. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. you don't consider The Smiths or NIN to be rock acts?
  16. not bad in what way? i wonder if the rest of the world rolls their collective eyes at the Hall of Fame in the same manner as baseball's "World Series."
  17. i finally get to scratch Electric Wizard off my list next year. at this point there are not too many bands I haven't yet seen that i still would like to.... i am not gonna use this as a necrophilia exercise as I think we went over that already Savage Republic still plays sporadically, and even though Licher's not w/ them, i would still like to see them play at some point. Sir Admiral Cloudesley Shovell. they played the year I was at Roadburn but i didn't know anything about them, and 4 stages means you gotta pick your plan and stick with it. i hope they play the US at some point. Steel
