  1. who knew that Miranda Lambert put out such a well-regarded album?
  2. new track from Pan American (Mark Nelson, ex-Labradford) https://soundcloud.com/geonorth/01-the-terrace?in=geonorth/sets/panamerican-sketch-for-winter-ii-rue-corridor
  3. i would agree w/ that listing, though wouldn't put MH at #2
  4. for me it's a tie for Owen Meany and Cider House Rules. maybe this soundtrack will help? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-jp4hk7VIU
  5. Mayhem and Watain. pure black metal on a cold winter night.
  6. he is, but still it's basically electrified blues (see B Booker, Reignwolf) which i guess counts as an indigenous american music form. i guess my point is that SSF is just so broader in scope. hell, i got to see Pillow Wand!
  7. to me, i can't answer that. w/ Jay Sweet (and presumably others at Paste) doing the booking, i find it much less adventurous than what Solid Sound has to offer (though it's clearly not your father's Folk Festival, either). that said, it was cool seeing stuff like Kurt Vile, Benjamin Booker and Reignwolf playing last year. i'm just not sure how far off the beaten folk path NFF will go.
  8. i think Korbel is already in discussions.
  9. the programming at NFF is pretty solid, but overall i prefer SSF. the vibes are similar...lots of white people, some w/ kids. it's easier to get closer to the main stage at NFF since there is a lot of stuff going on all day. and there's a NO CHAIR zone in the center which is nice, something SSF should consider. biggest drawbacks to NFF: finding a place to stay getting in and out of the stage fort grounds only being able to drink beers in isolated pens, far from the music.
  10. it wasn't during a concert (it was a festival and this was before bands got on for the day), but it was cool that i got to do bong hits w/ Al Cisneros when the test pressing of the _Dopesmoker_ reissue was delivered and we listened to it on his portable turntable that he brought on tour with him.
  11. that's a real tough one and obviously i can't speak for you, but i do admire your sacrifice and i'm sure that your kids do as well. and congrats on dropping the weight.
  12. I haven't really thought it about it too much, but one thing is certain. I am gonna focus on losing some weight this year... being at an all-time high isn't where I want to be. after screwing up my knee, my fitness suffered accordingly, but my food and beer intake didn't. as Molina said "Now something's got to change" family and jobwise, i'm at a very good place and don't see any major tweaks to be made... one side benefit of my knee situation is that i didn't take many vacation hours last year, so i've got 5+ weeks to burn this year. gonna take advantage of that. on the photography front, i
  13. it's the worst. i don't think i'd ever say this, but i prefer the older layout.
  14. now the nation can see how terrible the Paradise stage lighting is.
  15. solid investment. Moody's has changed my rating from 'HOLD' to 'BUY'
  16. how many face lifts has Judge Reinhold withstood?
