  1. wrote some great songs. turned into a sideshow. had a great band, too. Melvins dug him so much they covered not one but two of his songs (Halo Of Flies; Ballad of Dwight Frye)
  2. maybe a dumb question, but can't you just ignore certain posts in a topic? and regarding stopping this, why is the political thread a sacred cow?
  3. to be fair to Crow, he specified 'teenage years'
  4. agreed that Tim and Pleased To Meet Me sounds really dated/like ass, but the production on Let It Be is spot on.
  5. there's no doubt the guy is filled with opinions. what i like about him is that he's constantly on the move, and always looking to learn. if you get a chance to see him do spoken word, i would recommend it. great storyteller. i did a phone interview w/ him a few years back that was pretty cool. http://www.prefixmag.com/features/henry-rollins/interview-with-henry-rollins/22578/
  6. hilarity ensues. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/henry-rollins-does-not-enjoy-the-music-we-cover-in-rolling-stone-20131219
  7. that's ok. not everyone's cut out to be a licorice fan.
  8. i dunno, I'll ask Dex next time i see him. part of it was likely due to Minneapolis having a pretty vibrant scene that fed off each other (Husker, Soul Asylum, etc). they also came after The Replacements, one has a stupid name (DRR), and neither wrote a song even remotely as good as "Unsatisfied" or "Left Of The Dial." that's where the great racks go to die. the ones that want a bit of rejuvenation head to LA.
  9. the Replacements were just a loud, trashy, fun rock band. isn't that the point of it all?
  10. Husker's got two singers. and i think you're the first person i've ever heard who doesn't like Pollard's voice.
  11. the key is to be just as hammered. this was an excellent strategy for any GBV show.
  12. i love anchovies by themselves. i make a braised chicken thigh dish that includes a couple of minced anchovies. i look forward to eating the rest of the tin w/ some fresh bread while i make the rest of the dish. i have only eaten haggis once, but it was a phenomenal night i won't forget (Robbie Burns dinner that a vendor put on for us in Aberdeen).
  13. Link Wray is currently in heavy rotation in his casket.
