  1. i couldn't even take his photo when he was playing poker at Steve Albini's table. well, i guess i could have, but i didn't want to be a dick.
  2. no photography allowed by Mangum. when he did the solo shows at ATP a couple of years ago, that was the case too even w/ people approved for the festival.
  3. mr heartbreak, there are musicians who have put out music since 1974.
  4. has no one said Van Halen yet? btw i just realized this was an older thread, and i was happy to see about 50% of my selections were the same.
  5. you could easily fill the 20 w/ just punk and post-punk records. PiL Sex Pistols Damned Joy Division Specials Buzzcocks Black Flag Ramones Magazine Stranglers X etc etc etc
  6. i roasted parsnips yesterday with my chicken. i had some left over horseradish root and was thinking of playing parsnip roulette by cutting it down to the right size and adding it to the mix.

  9. not liking Zep? that's on par w/ not liking water.
  10. yeah that set was really heavy on the new record. aside from the covers i think he only played 2 or 3 songs from the first one. bummer you missed Gunn, he had a really good set and is a masterful fingerpicking guitar man. i didn't realize Nathan Bowles was playing drums w/ him either; i did an interview w/ him last year at Hopscotch so it was cool to catch up a bit. brighton is the center of tow trucks. that blows.
  11. i don't think i'd be too excited to have the coke-and-blow demise of my father being highly publicized. but maybe that's just my puritanical roots showing.
  12. maybe Neil took the lesson he learned from Greendale to heart...seems like he pissed off a ton of people by playing the entire record and then an encore of a couple of hits. with the ticket prices he's set, he might be pandering a bit. that said, i have never had less than a stellar time at any Neil show i've been to. and i've never been comped a ticket either.
  13. well that was a kick ass night. Steve Gunn is a major force on guitar. nice surprise to see Nathan Bowles on drums too; didn't even realize he played drums. and Lee & band ruled. tons of the new LP, done up right. and some choice covers "She Cracked" and two Wire songs "Fragile" and "Mannequin". and after the show he hung around at the merch and talked to any and all, signing anything and posing w/ photos.
  14. i suppressed the urge to post the Grass Roots members.
  15. i went to a wedding where the bride's sister was married to Matthew Sweet.
  16. don't downplay his ability to simultaneously consume cocaine and whores.
  17. you could make an argument for Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd, too.
