  1. Yeah I was thinking it was a Sunday show....they always were before, I think. We have been to three of them, but bailed on one as we had a large and early dinner and the had no motivation to hang around for another two hours before doors opened. So we drove home. The best one was the show when CVB played Key Lime Pie.
  2. Cat Power's is the definitive version, capturing shades of desperation not found in the others.
  3. do you have Monday off? that may help. btw, i think this is the 4th or 5th time they have booked the CVB/Cracker shows on pretty much the same weekend at the ME.

  5. that wasn't the point, but we're talking past each other 3-4 posts ago, so it doesn't matter. LR >>>>>>> BJ, but we already covered that. speaking of covers, i've seen Lee cover Talking Heads, Neil Young, Modern Lovers and Wire. what covers do you think ex-Mr Brinkley would do or has done?
  6. don't take it so personally. it's only opinions here. i'm compelled to comment about it, because that's what this board is for, right? or should i cease?
  7. i'm confused. what do 'normal' people have to do this topic, on this board? wasn't i addressing VC'ers?

  12. Mangum is in full hobo mode. I made my wife laugh when i suggested that Julian was skinny Badger.
  13. Yeah it went much better. There was a significant number of people who had hard tickets already. I was under the impression that everything was will call but maybe it was only the initial allotment of tickets sold via NMH's site. Awesome night. We had great seats (7th row, towards the center) and knew about a dozen people within a few rows of us. Funny.
  14. oof. an hour? i was expecting a clusterfuck but not that bad of a one.
  15. only once. and what a great show that was. one of those packaged AmRep tours w/ Hammerhead and someone else i forget now...at The Rat! wished i'd seen them more.

  17. i only saw the Grifters once...weird show. it was at the Sam Adams brewery and they had free BBQ. Scud Mountain Boys also played. i recall Joyce Linehan (currently on Mayor Walsh's staff!) put it together as some sort of Sub Pop promo thing...it wasn't open to the public.
  18. i have a lot of music nerd friends so it's not like these are complete mysteries to them, but here goes...i've added links to youtube samples so you can do some checking out on yr own. Steven R Smith (amazing guitar player that has played with Thuja as well as a handful of solo projects under various names) Year Of No Light - great French post-rock/metal band Golden Void - offshoot of Earthless, total psych guitar godhead (note - i shot this vid @ Hopscotch this past summer) Grouper - one of my favorite atmospheric performers. Able Tasmans - one of the lesser known New Zealand bands, which i
  19. "I saw you!" at the end of Happy Jack. apparently Keith Moon was screwing around in the studio, trying to get Pete to laugh during his part. at least that's the story i remember.
