  1. btw, you can see shots of last Friday's gig by clicking on the photo
  2. bonus disc of the kids choir singing the 1st Clash record.
  3. i'll be doing Vegas and Boston, outside chance of NYC.
  4. i am pretty sure that's wrong and that tickets are actually on sale tmrw.
  5. i am certainly no audio engineer, but can remastering really save some records? wouldn't that be down more to the actual recording that was done? maybe i'm totally confused as to what re-mastering actually accomplishes, which is likely. for instance, can the horrid snare drum sound of later Husker Du records be fixed?
  6. I was a Heedfest virgin until recently, and it was a great time. tons of Pollard nerds gathered under one banner, just having a great time and treated to not only Pollard playing his music, but four other bands playing GBV and Circus Devils songs. Matt Davis did a great job organizing it and there were good vibes all around. i don't know how actively the Wilco board gets together, but hopefully a lot of people will meet for the 1st time @ the Solid Sound Festival. Nothing like turning a virtual community into a real one. People from all over the place (including Sweden!) came together for H
  7. we'll just have to agree to disagree. i don't hear anything forced about that track. i wish he'd do an entire record in that style.
  8. I saw Pollard play the new record a couple nights ago. the title track was stunning. just stunning.
  9. oh, one more successful band-owned label:
  10. these worked out pretty well: http://www.discogs.com/label/United+Dairies
  11. i read in the Globe the other day that Leonard Nimoy will be presenting some art for this.
  12. Matt, i would say it's 99% likely that GBV will be playing other shows. for Vegas, a lot of those bands tour a lot, or have recently toured, so the appeal is definitely the 'indie record nerd convention' for me. plus, seeing Come and JSBX will be fucking awesome.
  13. i wonder what the frenzy for tickets is gonna be like...
  14. because they made Phallus Dei and Yeti. they rule in my tiny realm. Hawkwind could also garner honorable mention.
  15. Pink Floyd Roxy Music/solo Eno Amon Duul II Neil Young
  16. classic lineup returns: http://www.robertpollard.net/news.html
  17. they did, and the video too. looks like Merge put on 'Keep The Glove' as a bonus track for _Bug_
  18. my bad, i didnt' realize that 'Lose' was Lou's song. maybe an onomatopoeiac pun? i still like 'Poledo' but i can see how others wouldn't. i wonder why the Merge reissue didn't put "Show Me The Way" on it like the original SST reissue.
  19. it's only one ("Poledo") and while thematically it's not a good fit, it does presage Lou's direction w/ Sebadoh and is interesting from at least a historical perspective.
  20. that would be cool. two weeks after the SSF, i'll be at ATP to see SY play, Lee w/ Text of Light, and Steve w/ Michael Rother as Hallogallo, playing Neu! songs.
  21. there's more to music than wilco, and they are inviting you to listen w/ open ears.
  22. If there's any Isis fans here, you probably know they pulled the plug on the after a dozen+ years, which made their just previously announced tour a hasty farewell event. here's my review + photos of the first of two shows, with the Melvins: The merch table had everything but spit guards Buzzo has captured a soul in his guitar. Hmm...is that the right chord? I also did an interview w/ Buzzo and Dale before they sound-checked...gotta transcribe that next.
  23. Eleventh Dream Day - Death Of Albert C. Sampson XTC - "You're A Good Man Albert Brown (Curse You Red Barrel)"
