Springsteen at Giants Stadium!
tinnitus photography replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I should be set to shoot the Oct 3rd show for Backstreets mag, but i'd prefer seeing _Darkness_ to BITUSA. -
you forgot "The Blondes" which is a great track.

Here is my review of the Sunday show, w/ photos from both nights: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/u2-gillette-stadium-foxboro-ma-picsreview/ i've got more shots here

ATP/NY - best weekend of the year
tinnitus photography replied to tinnitus photography's topic in After The Show
to be honest the only song off DD/LY i heard before leaving was "mountain." they started w/ some great songs (slow life, juxtaposed, rings) but there was no life, no zap to their game. i'd seen SFA once in '05 and Gruff solo in '07 and both were great, and i really enjoy most of their catalog. for whatever reason they felt flat to me. -
once again the organizers of All Tomorrow's Parties put on one hell of an event in a dingy, overlooked corner of the Catskills. 3 days of entertainment overload centered around bands, but including comedians, live improvisation, trivia games, cult film screenings, performances of complete, specific recordings, live interviews with King Buzzo and Jon Spencer, a poker table helmed by Big Black/Shellac leader Steve Albini...the list goes on and on...incredible weekend. nirvana for music geeks, basically. Here are my thoughts about the whole thing, links to a review and photo gallery from each

U2 Chicago Soldier Field 9/12 9/13
tinnitus photography replied to u2roolz's topic in After The Show
i suppose i need to familiarize myself w/ the new record...am going to the Boston shows Sunday and Monday (photo passes confirmed, too). -
i wrote the review, too. no, i certainly knew going in that there would not be any Ozzy material played, and i thought i'd made that point clear w/ the analogy of the recent Stooges reunions only playing material from the records that Asheton played guitar on.
-
Thanks! someone called them the Hands of Doom, and i think it's accurate. that photo is currently my wallpaper for my pc...think i'll get a decent print of both shots. more shots of all the bands can be found here: http://narlus.zenfolio.com/f1072397664 enjoy!!

not sure how much overlap there is between Wilco's fanbase and some of the louder music forms, but if you are interested i caught a couple of very cool shows over the last 10 days or so. Heaven and Hell (aka Black Sabbath, fronted by Dio) review Motörhead review
-
wow, Wilco's playing Vicar St? that's a pretty cozy venue to see them. when i lived in ireland i saw Echo/Bunnymen, Calexico, and The Go-Betweens there. i didn't get tickets to any of the three sold-out Nick Cave solo shows...no tickets to be had out front from scalpers either.

The Pretenders/Cat Power/Juliette Lewis
tinnitus photography replied to tinnitus photography's topic in After The Show
yeah, she's gotten over her tendency to meltdown at shows, but this karaoke act has gotten a bit stale. agreed that Hynde sounded great, though i think her vibrato was helped out a bit artificially... thanks! canon bodies and lenses. -
very fun show...LOUDquietLOUD sorta evening, w/ Chan Marshall still plying her dusky soul sound and breaking up the volume output. review and photos here: http://www.gigwise.com/reviews/live/52125/Wednesday-120809-Cat-Power-Juliette-Lewis-The-Pretenders-@-Bank-of-America-Pavilion-Boston more shots (click on the photo to see more):

Ali was a total badass drummer. played w/ tons of great combos. a monolith for sure.

I hope someone choke slams these bastards.

i can't see how it's legal, even w/ this flimsy qualifier -
yeah, if you like the Jesus Lizard you will definitely hear where they got some of their ideas from (The Birthday Party)...also, for a bit more difficult listen, you can check out Blixa's band Einsturzende Neubaten. and 2007's solo record from original seed Mick Harvey is also quite good.
-
i would point out these records: the boatman's call let love in henry's dream murder ballads
-
RTI is a very good pressing plant. Matador uses them. I've been happy, though the Mogwai record (Hawk is Howling) was a bit noisier than i expected. i think the Wilco records sound amazing on vinyl. really well done.

McCartney at Fenway Park (A Fab in Beantown)
tinnitus photography replied to Sparky speaks's topic in After The Show
Thanks! Nope, I didn't go last night. Also, you might have confused me w/ someone else as I wasn't @ the Tanglewood show last year...last two shows I've shot Wilco was the LeLacheur Park in Lowell, and when they opened for Neil Young last Dec. -

screw those guys. i was the only photographer approved to shoot them as well, but they presented me w/ a photo waiver that transferred copyright to them, allowing them to use the photos in any manner they wanted w/o paying me one red cent. they wouldn't amend it either. no thanks. and musicians complain about people illegally downloading their music... -

Here are my shots: http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/paul-mccartney-fenway-park-pics/ Jim and John got a good shot of Paul when he first got on stage...I was still dicking around w/ my gear and was caught by surprise and missed it. we were all camped *way* back from the stage so everyone had the same perspective, shooting-wise. -
A music legend in one of the most historic buildings baseball has to offer. perfect weather, too - the thunderstorms never appeared. i only got to shoot 2 songs and then i got the bumrush out under the centerfield bleachers, but it was a cool experience. i hung outside for a bit to hear some more. http://www.prefixmag.com/photos/paul-mccartney-fenway-park-pics/

i'll be @ the 2nd show, unless i find some cheap ticket for mccartney after i'm done shooting the 1st two songs.
