  1. Thanks Todd, that's very kind. The guitar is a Gretsch Historic Series G3161, and she's beautiful and sounds lovely. I have weakness for pretty guitars, and a very tolerant wife.
  2. The funeral was today, and thus brought to and end what was one of the craziest weeks around these parts. There were protests over the decision to put Kaczynski in the Wawel crypt alongside the greats of Polish history, and counter-protests as well. No one would take responsibility for the decision, so there was a general hullabaloo about this. Meanwhile, the city of Kraków struggled to prepare for a couple hundred foreign dignitaries, including the bigwigs mentioned in my previous post. A friend of mine used to work for the branch of the Police that organized important visits. When
  3. Thanks, Moss! That's me on the electric. We trade the vocals a lot between the three of us- if i can figure out how to transfer from dvd to a different format and edit it, i'll put some more up.
  4. It's only taken us about a billion years but we finally have something up on . We're in the studio and this song will be on the record whenever in gets finished.
  5. Usually nothing interesting happens around here. This weekend, Obama, Medved, Sarkozy, Merkel, Saakashvili, and a few others will be paying my town a visit. Yesterday and today there have been protests in the streets. And geeze, my band's show was cancelled.
  6. The tragedy is deepened by the fact that they were on their way to commemorate the massacre at Katyn, where thousands of Polish officers were murdered by Soviets. As far as conspiracy theories are concerned, I think it's unlikely. The plane was an ancient Russian Topolev that apparently even Aeroflot had retired. I heard a rumor yesterday that the last pilot resigned his post a month ago, calling the plane a flying coffin. Why the Polish government was using it is a big part of the mystery. Additionally, Russia's handling of the situation has been admirable, and ironically, the tragedy
  7. It's a slow day and I am ready to entertain rumours about the the next record. Would someone please be so kind as to provide me with one?
  8. John on stand up! Wow, that is definitely something new, at least as far as I'm aware.
  9. Thanks! it's downloading now, can't wait to hear it.
  10. what's the set up on the accoustic set? Mike on piano probably. are Jeff, Pat, and Nels all on accoustic guitar? Someone mentioned "not totally unplugged," what does this mean? Pat on organ? Nels on lap? Details, please.
  11. It's a nice feeling knowing that your music means something to somebody. Congrats.
  12. Their timing is off. It obviously should have been Wilco (the song) on Wilco (the album) by Wilco (the band) on Wilco (the label).
  13. Assuming we can trust the polls (which I don't) that would mean that the Republicans would have to vote 54% to 41% against the plan to accurately represent the American public. Seeing as how they voted 100% to 0%, they are very far from representing the opinion of the American people. The Democrats, having cast both yes and no votes are, mathematically speaking, infinitely closer to representing the public at large.
  14. why stick a chocolate chip on a turd if you know you're not going to eat it? I think this suggests that the republicans knew it would pass, so put a few provisions in there which they wanted, then voted against it (rather than voting their conscience, knowing it would pass anyway) simply so they could later accuse the dems of railroading things through, save up some mud to throw in the future, and generally play bullshit politics. Obama extended the hand to the republicans, if they chose not to take it that doesn't mean that he should stop governing.
  15. Depending on your definition of reasonably intelligent. Edit to add: and thoughtful.
  16. So is there anyone here who does not have coverage but will when this takes effect?
  17. AM- Box Full of Letters, Pick up the Change BT- Misunderstood, Forget the Flowers ST- She's A Jar, How to fight Loneliness YHF- (is a seemless entity from which nothing can be removed but for the sake of cooperation) Kamera, Jesus, etc. AGIB- ALTWYS, Hummingbird SBS- Impossible Germany, Side with the Seeds W(TA)- Country Disappeared, I'll Fight
  18. Lots of talented people have been passing recently. Sad news, which comes on the heels of sad news. No more please.
  19. exactly this. Having followed this band since the days of A.M., I remember being disappointed when YHF came out, thinking that the mix buried and muffled Jeff's voice, producing all the passion out of it. It wasn't that they'd strayed from their alt-country roots, as I'm all for experimentation, but something just didn't click. Now, though, I have come to think of it (as many have) as their masterpiece. SBS by contrast, was on repeat for a good two months, before cooling off into what I though of as mediocrity. But as more time passes, it has seemed to climb back up the ladder again. So
  20. there are lots of reasons to give up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFL5OZln_XI
  21. i called an old friend an she magically took care of it. hooray for old friends.
  22. hooray! my ticket is reserved. I've been waiting a looooooooong time for this...
  23. Add me to the list of those who deem it necessary. The pretty parts are made prettier by the noise. Yin-yang sorta thing. And yes, it is appropriate to the song. Is there really a place called this? If so, where?
