  1. Usually I agree with you, but what you say here reminds me of how close to madness i am. These songs belong on this record and this record belongs on the list, uhh...my list as others have said, this is dificult to do without comsideration, but ones i would seriously consider (if not changing anything defines flawlessness): YHF and BT VU- VU Jayhawks- Hollywood Town Hall Dylan- Blood on the tracks (I tell ya), Highway 61 Violent Femmes' debut have to consider more: Replacements- Let it Be Feelies- Good Earth VU's debut REM- Reckoning Greatful Dead- American Beauty
  2. I'd rather see them change their name to a funny symbol and re-record all of Prince's records. Can't wait to hear Nels tear into the "Purple Rain" solo and hear Tweedy's falsetto on "Kiss"
  3. I'll go along with this. I do think, however, that sometimes such an obviously inappropriate action such as this can serve as catalyst to change people's mind, or tip the scales. And I would like to 100% wholeheartedly absof*ckinglutely agree with Louie B about the need for non-violent resistance here. Let me hear you say it: satyagraha!
  4. I feel bad for those kids too, but I feel worse for the people on the flotilla and their loved ones.
  5. I understand your point, remphish, but Israel is a functioning democracy and it's government (more or less) represents it's people. If some kid in Tel Aviv gets bummed out about the Pixies not playing, starts to ask questions, and comes to the conclusion that they aint's gonna get his vote, then the Pixies small protest will have been a success, and said kid will have received much more than a fond concert memory. Neil Young didn't go to Kent State and play a show, he wrote "Ohio."
  6. Agreed on both counts, but regarding the second one, you must draw the line somewhere, and surely the Pixies (admittedly small) act is better than Rod Stewart's or Elton John's lack of interest- which amounts to condoning these war crimes.
  7. Drive My Car- The Beatles Classic Cars- Bright Eyes Joe Stalin's Cadillac- Camper Van Beethoven One Piece at a Time- Johnny Cash Kiss Me on The Bus- The Replacements (If we take cars to mean motor vehicles in general, which I will because I try not to miss opportunities to credit the Replacements, even when they might not actually deserve it) Car wheels on a gravel road- Lucinda Williams
  8. Not 100% certain but i think it must have been when he was sneaking away from the set of "Dune" without giving the costume back.
  9. When I'm making love I want to be focused on my wife, and not be thinking about Tweedy & co.'s awesomeness. This, and she thinks I listen to Wilco enough (too much) as it is already. If I popped a Wilco disc during an intimate moment the moment would no longer be intimate. So I guess I would have to vote for the outro to SMLTYT as this as close as Wilco's music comes to not existing. And it's good to see Napalm composing again.
  10. One of my first records, if not the first, was a 45 of Lou Christie's "Spanish Wine" that I got as a freebie at a sporting event. I could still sing you most of the chorus even though I haven't heard it probably 30 years. Can't find it on the internet either.
  11. I remeber hearing this band a grand total of once, back in college, on one particular night when i was, um, well, assissted by little pieces of paper that had been lurking around my tongue. It was a sublime experience, and I'm sure if i heard them again it wouldn't quite be the same. That said, I would indeed love to hear them again, though I might need to be in a "safe place" just in case it would trigger something.
  12. Things that I Used to Do - G. Love and Special Sauce Box of Rain - Greatful Dead, American Beauty At the Bottom of Everything - Bright Eyes, I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning
  13. Hey, I've forgotten about it by the second measure of "Pledging my Time." And when that ends, I promptly forget about it too as "Visions of Johanna" kicks off...etc...
  14. And once again we butt heads on this album...it's all right, i still respect your right to call it flawless even though you wish the opening track weren't on the album.
  15. Oh, damn, we've moved on to Bob Dylan. Well, we might as well get it over with: Subterranean Homesick Blues/Brining it all back home Rainy Day Women #12 +35/ Blonde on Blonde Girl From The North Country (with Johnny Cash)/Nashville Skyline Political World/Oh Mercy Thunder on the Mountain/Modern Times there are some others i would have liked to include but for the sake of expediency i didn't
  16. I was going to mention misunderstood anyway, but i got excited and forgot. IATTBYH is a close second.
  17. Side one Track ones: Elvis Costello "Uncomplicated" from Blood and Chocolate, R.E.M. "Harborcoat" from Reckoning, Jayhawks "Waiting For the Sun" from Hollywood Town Hall, Violent Femmes "Blister in the Sun" from their debut, Velvet Underground "Candy Says" from their third, Clash "Know Your Rights" from Combat Rock Teenage Fanclub "The Concept" from Bandwagonesque just to name a few. And looking at the list, the 80's were a pretty good time for side one, track one.
  18. I don't get it either, but I'm happy with not understanding. It might ruin it for me. Production, as with a lot on Summerteeth, might be questionable but melody and lyrics, I agree: great.
  19. So left to only ten I had to draw the line somewhere, but I would've liked to include others, for example "Sunken Treasure" which gets noisy but doesn't quite break out of the constraints of rhythm or key, which is why it got the axe. There are a couple other examples of things which didn't make the cut, I know, mention them if you like.
  20. Brilliant stuff. I wonder what the story is.
  21. the BYOC one? i've perved on that before. How is it? I'm jealous.
