  1. not even decaf sandwhiches? edit to add: this is my satan post.
  2. stop thinking about my esophagus you pervert.
  3. when i was a kid and ate super sugar crisp (later super golden crisp) my pee would smell like my breakfast. At the time, i wasn't a coffee drinker.
  4. here's the link. Rec Nap's bones might be slightly brittle, but you'll lost your mind, then a blood vessel will explode in you brain. You won't know whether the shakes are from the parkinson's or your nerves watching the footrace between cancer and diabetes. winner kills you. at least you'll be sure the shankes aren't from too much caffeine. just as you're thinking a cuppa joe might be a good idea, you'll notice a magnanimous rec nap walking over to bring you a cup. When she falls and breaks a fragile hip, you will feel her pain.
  5. I quite liked "Hazards" too. Too me the concept album thing seemed a natural step for Meloy and co. to take. He's always been a story teller, and "Hazards" seemed like a novel compared to his previous collections of short stories and novellas. It will be interesting to see what his/their next move will be.
  6. You, sir, need help. I suggest a small cup of turkish cofee, in which the grounds have been boiled with cardamon. You are free to add sugar and milk or cream as you like.
  7. did ray davies really slit his speaker cones with a razor, or is that just a tall tale?
  8. I'm partial to Hazelnut, which isn't available where I live. The last time I was back, though, it seemed that the quality had dropped, not just of one brand but of the several i tried. I go for the arabica beans, given the choice, and generally drink the standard drip variety. occasionaly my wife will bust out the italian espresso on the stove machine thing, but if i had that everyday i'd get spoiled. Caffeine is a must. Every time i try decaf it tastes like i'm drinking coffee out of an ashtray.
  9. oh, joy! oh rapture! i knew 2011 was going to be better than 2010. unless, of course it is a half-ass sucky disappointment.
  10. So I guess they can be musical, like Jim Morrison on The Ed Sullivan Show, or non-musical, like Dylan getting the Beatles high for the first time. If Bulfinch was a music critic, what stories would he anthologize?
  11. so if you won't be needing it any more can I have some? I think it would help.
  12. Ain't gonna happen, and it's probably a good thing: it'll always sound better in your imagination than in reality.
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QBI0YOTdIA I posted this before somewhere, but there has been talk of a separate thread for this, and besides, I thought it was time for someone else besides Pop Todd to take flack for self-promotion. All of you in bands, don't leave me hanging here... Incidentally, we too have a november gig, but I would be truly shocked to see any of you there, so I'll just post this other link instead: Los Gasolineros
  14. Todd- funny you should recommend this-the world is small: in the days when my wife was my girlfriend she was as au pere in Munich. The father in the family was the guy who did the stage and costume design for this. Pepper, on the basis of your passionate recommendation (and the fact that I too like Magritte)I'll check it out.
  15. i just realized that after recently cleaning up some stuff on my computer, lots of things have disappeared, including YHF and ST of what's left, Casino Queen and Box Full of Letters win, not surprising since my two boys (ages 8 and 3) went through a phase where that (and REM's Harborcoat) is ALL they would listen to. Dad, while proud, never thought he would get sick of Wilco.
  16. one of our very own vc'ers is pretty frikkin' good
  17. You might as well just come straight out and ask for Sex Nap/Speed Racer/Recorded Nap to do one of her re-writes
  18. I'm a sucker for pedal steel, maybe that's why I have no problem with this song.
  19. I didn't use to like It's just that simple either, but have grown to love it. When I saw them play it a month ago, it was a highlight of the show. go figure. i often skip Rainy Day Women too, but that doesn't mean i think it isn't good enough to be on the record. And just to show youse that I can contribute to this thread, rather than simply objecting to everyone else's contributions: Pavement: "Hit the Plane Down" from "Crooked Rain,.."
  20. if i could insert a technical question here- can the disc be slipped in sideways or does it have to be pushed in flat?
  21. it's not that I disliked it, I just didn't get the hulabaloo. but thanks fer yer honest reply.
  22. Oops- i just did my fact checking and i stand corrected- Buddy Was Jerry's replacement in NROTPS...I knew there was some Jerry connection...keep me honest...
  23. I just checked out a couple of things on youtube, and am wondering if how many more i will have to check out before i hear something that Brianjonestownmassacre hasn't done before (and better, at least at times) am i missing something?
  24. that is not through any deficiency in the first two, imho, but because the third one is so stunningly good you just wait to get there. But maybe I've chimed in on Dylan enough in this thread...
