  1. can i have some of whatever you took?
  2. oh, jeez, would they just please release another record so we can put this one into perspective? please?
  3. Undoubtedly a flashy piece of guitar work- but it didn't seem to me to be either gentle or weepy, which dare i say makes it inappropriate.
  4. this is simply impossible to do without providing a criteria to narrow it down. A guitar solo can be oh so many things.
  5. I'm with trish on this one too, which is why i didn't add it. I will add, however, that being on the train is closer to counting than being in the airport.
  6. American Samoa Argentina Australia Austria Barbados Belgium Belize Bosnia and Herzogovina Canada Chile Croatia Czech Republic Denmark Egypt Estonia Finland France Germany Guam Hungary Israel Ireland Italy Japan Latvia Liechtenstein Lithuania Luxemborg Mexico Morrocco Netherlands New Zealand Norway Peru Poland Portugal Russia Slovakia Spain Sweden Switzerland Turkey United Kingdom United States Uruguay Vatican City added: Slovakia, Hungary, Morrocco, Turkey, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzogovina....passed through Slovenia on the train but didn't get off. Does that count? Anyway, I didn't ad
  7. why does croatia keep reappearing? it's been eliminated at least 3 times.

  9. Didn't see this anywhere else: according to the BBC the Copenhagen Climate Summit is adopting "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" as their official anthem.
  10. yeah, I know...I do own two myself...I love 'em
  11. Since starting this thread I have intentionally refrained from posting in it, but also kept a fairly close eye on it. There are reasons for not engaging in the debate I provoked that I will get to shortly. But first I would like to drag out a familiar metaphor: that of a fence dividing atheists and faithful. Most of the population, I would hazard to guess is populated fairly close to the fence, many even stradle it. The problem is the few people who sit too far away from the fence whose view of those on the other side is obstructed. Back in the nether reaches of the yard that these types
  12. a good maxim if you're buying boss, mxr, dano, or other things which are widely available, but if you're gonna go boutique, this will severely limit your options.
  13. I'm well aware of the difference between OD and distortion, and equally well aware of the limitations of listening to clips on the internet, even if they are hooked up to half-way decent speakers (as mine are). But I am equally aware that ALL internet clips are subject to these same limitations, and although recorded at variable levels of quality, a certain degree of comparative listening is possible, especially when you have compared a number of clips to things you actually own and play all the time. This, coupled with the fact that I have also heard the pedal played in a live band setting,
  14. heard lots of good things about the Bad Monkey, but honestly I haven't been impressed with any of the OCD clips i've seen. The Fulltone Fulldrive seems like an od i would go for if i could afford it, though.
  15. That's a bit harsh. I don't think anyone will argue that it's Olson's best work, or even close to it, but the down-homey d.i.y. approach taken to the extreme like this does have a certain charm.
  16. No noise from the cheapo artec either, but the plug is kind of bulky- leads me to believe the transformer may be in there. mine's on a euro, plug, so i'm not sure how this issue would play out there. I have found it useful to put the power strip on my board and plug into that, as my fuzz requires its own isolated power source anyway. this makes for a bit less real estate on the board, and as a result the pedals get kept in constant rotation. Can't remember the last time i played two consecutive gigs with the same configuration actually. Anyway, variety is the spice of life, right? It keep
  17. I have a similar but cheaper one made by Artec (Korean) and it has served me well. It's a budget-shelf piece of gear but does what it should and has never let me down.
  18. some electric/tronic devices have a current switch built in to go between 120 (US) and 220 (Europe) volts. Usually these are things that you might normally be expected to travel with (hair driers, electric razors, especially if they are travel models, and laptops which i think do it automatically). This does not include mobile phones. If this is the case and there is a voltage switch then all you need is a plug adaptor. For the things that don't have the switch, you'll need a voltage converter, which usually comes along with a set of plug adaptors. It's been a while, but if memory serves
  19. Because Jay would storm off about three songs into the first set.
  20. Damn, I should have known better than to post without doing my research, what with all the musically erudite folk around here.
