  1. Picked up tix for Victoria this morning and will also be seeing the band in Hamilton. The Vancouver Olympic show is now sort of icing on the cake. Haven't decided if we'll actually attend. Leaning towards listening from the seawall on our side of False Creek (we live literally "up the creek" from the venue) with a few beveridges to keep warm. W(TF), I have a second pair of tix for the Hammer show. If you're interested pls send me a PM. I was going to post them under "HTFL" closer to the date of the show.
  2. Not pathetic at all. All modes of transportation to the Island might be tricky if not slower due to the Olympics. We've decided to avoid the ferry crap, save time and fly harbour-to-harbour instead.
  3. Victoria! Outstanding! We will definitely be on a ferry to the Island that afternoon. Thanks for the heads up!
  4. Other than occasionally on the CBC ("Radio Two Morning" with Tom Allen or "Radio Two Drive" with Rich Terfry) sadly, I've never heard Wilco "out and about" in Vancouver. Unfortunately, when I have it's been "You and I." Far from one of my faves but one that my husband feels is groundbreaking enough to call me up at work so that he can hold the phone up to the kitchen radio for me to listen to. Every time.
  5. Sweet, indeed. Good work. The Hammer is my hometown so despite row G (i.e 14) I'm still very excited. See you there!
  6. How did everyone do re: Frontgate and the Hamilton show? I wore out the "refresh" button on my keyboard prior to the scheduled start-time and got "in" @ 6:58am (Vancouver time). Managed 2 in Row G which, initially, I thought was pretty good until I figured out that there are rows aa-hh ahead of the regular rows, which puts us at Row 14, about half-way back...hmmm.
  7. Try supposedly progressive Oregon where we once vacationed. Ours is an interracial marriage - going on 20 years in Jan - so unfortunately, this is old hat. I guess you never really know what people are thinking. This ass just made the mistake of opening his mouth. Just the other day an acquaintance at the gym, someone I had gotten to know over the past 2 years or so, started complaining about a "jumper" on the Lions Gate Bridge, about how much this person inconvenienced her, how the police and their team should have just let the person jump. Unbelievable.
  8. I've just cxl'd my trip to Toronto due to a family emergency. If you want these, pls send me a PM and their yours. Just do a "do it forward" or something. I don't want these tix to go to waste, a VC'er shd have them. I can overnight them to you tomorrow. I also have one ticket for tomorrow night's show but there's no way I could get this from Vancouver to Toronto in time now.
  9. Well, I've had some time to think about this, and you're right. My initial reaction was selfish and definitely offside. So I apologize.
  10. At the risk of sounding like a total ingrate, I have to admit that I'm slightly (OK, extremely) disappointed about this. A free outdoor show at a downtown park in mid-Feb during the Olympics isn't what I was expecting. Yeah, "gong show" in so many ways. Really glad I'll be seeing them in Toronto next week at a proper venue. Will most likely fly to Ontario (where the parental units reside)and catch the Hamilton show on Feb 23.
  11. A Vancouver show in the new year would be great and a welcome change from all the Olympic stuff. Hope you have a good commute. I'll be on a Dash 7 to Toronto Wed morning. Actually, a 737. Couldn't resist.
  12. I got scuppered by the pre-10am FrontGate sale for the Wed night show and ended up getting a 3rd row balcony seat via Ticketmaster. Got wise and logged into FrontGate early for the Thurs night sale and scored 2 floor seats 2nd row, just left of centre. So, I'll be at both shows! Hope you find a buyer, but if you don't, two shows won't be so bad! Good luck and vibes, too, re: your stepdaughter.
  13. I'm a loser and haven't figured out how to post the link, however, addictedtovinyl.com has a great download of BR's 2000 Stardust show. I'm also a sucker for Cuddy's voice. Is this what heaven sounds like?
  14. Hilarious! He looks like he's been arrested and read his rights!
  15. Outstanding! Where's your restaurant? How about the "Ashes Combo" - sandwich and a Diet Coke? Or the "Sunken Treasure" - prime rib sandwich? (Sorry, I know you weren't soliciting suggestions but I couldn't hold back!) All the best, I know where I'll be having lunch!
  16. We left after Neil, too. According to the review in today's Vancouver Sun, he didn't come back out. Thanks for posting the setlist.
  17. Have to disagree with you re: the shredding but don't get me wrong, I still love the band. We've seen them live 9X over the years and they've never disappointed. Have only seen Jim's band twice, they don't get to Vancouver that often. His Massey Hall show this past Feb with the Skydiggers opening was as good as any BR show I've seen. Jeff sings with Jim on "I'll Make Believe It's You" on Jim's first solo record, "All in Time." Shd have mentioned that Jay Bennett also sings and plays banjo and piano on this track!
  18. Blue Rodeo is a great band, largely due to the Keelor/Cuddy songwriting collaboration, not their guitar playing. Unfortunately, talented guys like bassist Donovan and multi-instrumentalist Egan don't always get the credit they deserve. I love Egan's contribution to Wilco's Live at the Troubadour concert. See you at Massey Hall! (You know that Cuddy is a big Wilco fan, right?)
  19. Thanks, Mr mpolak21, for compiling this great list. Makes me want to re-consider some of my (lame?) choices and also listen to songs that I had pretty much written off ("Muzzle of Bees", "Hell is Chrome"). So, as they say, it's all good. Thx, again. P.S. Still love "Hotel Arizona"
  20. I have the best husband in the world! We were out walking on the weekend, talking about work, colleagues, etc. And regarding one of mine, out of the blue he blurts out, "short on long-term goals." With a big grin on his face he proudly says, "I know what you listen to. I know all of your favorite Wilco songs!"
  21. Pretty much the same for me, except "Country Disappeared" instead of "BBN." And, dare I say it, I still can't listen to that duet with Feist.
  22. I'm new to VC. Thx for doing this. Here's my 20: 1. Sunken Treasure 2. Ashes of American Flags 3 Jesus, Etc. 4. Company In My Back 5. Impossible Germany 6. She's A Jar 7. Misunderstood 8. Handshake Drugs 9. Via Chicago 10. A Shot In The Arm 11. New Madrid 12. I Am Trying To Break Your Heart 13. I'm Always In Love 14. Hotel Arizona 15. Side WIth The Seeds 16. One By One 17. Red-Eyed And Blue 18. You Are My Face 19. Wishful Thinking 20. Country Disappeared Yeah, I know, "Hotel Arizona." I figure I'll catch some noise for that one. Bring it.
  23. Would have to agree with you on this. Worked for me.
  24. Sorry to hear this, c.lo. I was there @ 7am again and managed to snag a single seat in the 3rd row of the balcony, section RSB. I'm hoping for a second show, too. I'd definitely hang around for a second show, especially if I can get a half-decent seat on the floor. Heh, who am I kidding, any non-view-obstructed seat!
