  1. Just a reminder that Jeff is on the Strombo show tonight (11:05pm CBC)
  2. Yes, thanks v much for posting. John (regarding the carpeting in the Loft):"Someone has to say it but it really does tie the room together."
  3. It was definitely spring when I left Vancouver Tues morning. Definitely winter-like here in Toronto yesterday and today!
  4. Another fantastic show. I agree with Kalle, I think the setlist topped the first show's. "Not For the Season" and "Radio King" were definite highlights for me. I have to confess, "You And I" isn't up there for me but Feist did sound pretty good. And she and Jeff really looked like they were having fun. The merch table was a bit sparse ("Wilco (the album)" , "Adult Head", tote bag, etc.) I picked up the "All God's Money" show poster as a souvenir, though. Couldn't resist. Nice to meet some fellow VC'ers. See you at SS!
  5. It was my first Jeff solo show, too. Thought I'd have to wait until Solid Sound. Wow. "You Are Not Alone" surprised me, it sounded great and was quite powerful. I sort of welled up near the end. The "mulch/tinsel/fibreglass" comment re: the Sky Blue Sky sammich was hilarious. Thanks, bbop, for the setlist!
  6. Drive-By Truckers at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver
  7. I love this show. This version of "She's A Jar' is one of my favorites. Exactly. The newer versions are great but if I had to choose, I think I'd go with this one.
  8. I've never heard Wilco at Steve Nash Fitness World (and suspect I never will), however, yesterday morning I spotted a dog-eared copy of "American Songwriter" - the one with Jeff winking on the cover - sitting on a ledge between the cleaning station and a row of bikes!
  9. I'm also a fan of "The Crane Wife".
  10. I'm really liking this, too. Gorgeous melodies and a concise listen at what, 41 mins? "Rise To Me" is lovely. And the meaty "This Is Why We Fight" is already a favorite.
  11. I agree, absolutely. I'm really digging this record which is odd as it really is "Patterson-centric" vocally as solace stated. The slow burn of "Ray's Automatic Weapon" reminds me, strangely enough, of "72 (This Hwy's Mean)" Both great tunes.
  12. Santa had my autographed "Once Around" CD (The Autumn Defense) along with my losing Solid Sound Photo Contest entry (also signed by Pat and John) framed!
  13. Hmmm, can't say I remember this band. Sorry, PopTodd. These guys were pretty big in Vancouver and BC during the late '80s/early '90s. (They didn't do too badly in some of the other provinces either, I think.)
  14. Thanks for the link, okp greg. I'll second that. I never tire of CO/Bright Eyes. Looking forward to "The People's Key"
  15. All of the Wilco shows were outstanding: Royal Theatre, Victoria - 2/12 David Lam Park, Vancouver - 2/13 Hamilton Place, 2/23 JazzAspen, Snowmass - 9/3 Also, in no particular order: Drive-By Truckers: The Fillmore, SF - 5/8 The National: Malkin Bowl, Vancouver - 9/10 The Autumn Defense: Drake Underground, Toronto - 11/9 Crowded House: Queen E Theatre, Vancouver - 8/29
  16. Yup, good point. Yours too, bigshoulders. I guess we're just different (hopefully re: the "filthy and smelly" part, too!) Cheers.
  17. I used to be the same with Hell is Chrome. Not sure what happened but it's now in my top 10. I think this happened around the same time that AGIB overtook YHF as my favorite record.
  18. Our HD has a Harvey's (burger place) inside it. Who goes to HD to eat burgers?
  19. I haven't listened to this yet, hopefully will this weekend. Me too, I prefer Cooley's voice/songs to Patterson's. Picked up tickets for one of their March shows yesterday. Nice that they're coming to Vancouver!
  20. "You Never Know" on CBC Radio Two "Drive" with Rich Terfry a minute ago. Even better, before playing it, Rich mentioned the Autumn Defense and "Once Around"!
  21. The sun shining off the snow on the mountains Mittens NCAA baseketball Dogs wearing jackets
  22. I'm really digging the alternate version of "Terrible Love."
  23. Me, too! Sounds really good, Kalle. (You sound a bit like John Samson of the Weakerthans, and I mean that as a compliment, too!) Thanks for the download.
