  1. "Whole Love" at the roasted chestnut cart outside Granville Island Public Market yesterday morning!
  2. Either did I. And they played for two hours in Vancouver. Have a great time.
  3. Thanks for the setlist. Wow. I love Quadrophenia - brings back memories of Grade 13, it's pretty much all we listened to. 5:15!
  4. This is from a recent interview with John K Samson: Do you get dissuaded when you turn on the radio? The fact that the popular culture isn’t all that interested in lyrics, especially? I suppose. I mean, I don’t get discouraged by it. I think there’s a role for that kind of song and, you know, who am I to make fun of something that actually moves another person. And obviously it does. http://www.wweek.com/portland/blog-28426-extended_qa_john_k_samson.html I found that response very thoughtful and gracious. And I try to remember it whenever I find myself cringing at certain artists or typ
  5. I actually have two. The kungfu store had a promotion a while ago where you got this shirt for free with any purchase. It's a Youth Large. You can have it if you want it. (Not sure if it will fit your boyfriend...)
  6. Thank you so much for recording and sharing. It sounds fantastic!
  7. Thx for the setlist, bbop! Hell Is Chrome was outstanding. I'd been requesting that one pretty much every day for the past 3 months! Jeff (intro to I'm the Man): "I'm not even going to look. Is Glenn standing on his chair?"
  8. Thx for the setlist and review, bbop. Many, many highlights for me but I think Sunken Treasure, Box Full of Letters and Laminated Cat were my faves. And it's so much fun watching John - he plays with so much passion. If/when he gets bored or is tired, he certainly doesn't show it!
  9. Yup. How to Fight Loneliness > Laminated Cat - wow!
  10. Yes, thanks very much for the rec. This is fantastic! Love this version of Handshake Drugs.
  11. Several years ago I did some volunteer work at one of our hospitals. I showed up for my first shift, a Friday night, and was assigned the "library cart." I was teamed up with another volunteer who happened to be a super energetic university student who was trying to qualify for med school. She was happy and excited about the shift and asked me what I did, or if I was still in school. I told her I worked in the investment industry and that I had been out of school for many years. She asked me what school I attended. I told her McMaster in Ontario and that I had graduated in 1985. She had this b
  12. Bruce Springsteen - Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto - Jan 20, 1981
  13. I'm not sure if this was my first K-Tel record as I know I had several. One of them had a "skip" in the middle of "Signs" by the Five Man Electrical Band and I'd have to get up and move the needle along...
  14. Box Full of Letters yesterday and Impossible Germany today on CBC Radio 2 Drive!
  15. Oh, thanks for pointing that out. I (obviously) don't have either compilation! Cheers!
  16. I really love "At Dawn", too, but "Z" is probably my favourite. Does anyone have any comments about their recent covers? I thought "Rocket Man" and "It Makes No Difference" on the Red Rocks boots were well done.
  17. Nice thread! Seattle: King County Stadium; Safeco Field Colorado: Coors Field Atlanta: Fulton County Stadium; Turner Field Boston: Fenway Park Toronto: Exhibition Stadium; SkyDome (now Rogers Centre) Oakland: Coliseum And next month: San Francisco: AT&T Park!
  18. Hmmm, no Hummingbird dance? I was farting around in the kitchen but came out to see the dance. Oh well. Jeff did look a bit warm, even in that t-shirt. The show sounded good from the kitchen!
  19. Thanks! Despite being an excellent snoozer she pretty much runs the show around here.
  20. This is pretty much my story, too. With the exception of the wife part. My husband is less emotionally attached to/reliant upon music than I am. Baseball is another story. I listen to Wilco shows more often than their records. Interestingly, it's the post-Jay/pre-Pat&Nels shows that I listen to the most. And when I feel like putting on one of their records, it's usually AGIB, my go-to record.
  21. I pre-ordered these Friday afternoon and immediately received a confirmation. Haven't received the download notification email yet.
  22. Yes! Pat is great on Handshake! I think this is one of those "3-guitar" songs where it's so easy to focus on Nels.
  23. I think this counts: I had a dream that I was in a bar somewhere in Toronto. CBC Radio Two happened to be broadcasting live from this bar. The morning show's host (not sure why I was in a bar that early, presumably before work) asked me if there was anything I'd like to hear. I requested "Lost Love." I contemplated asking for "Radio King" but went with "Lost Love." It was great.
