Do you care that Beck has a new album coming out

Nice! I picked up a ticket for the Montreal show. And I'll be going to his Pitchfork show, too. -
HMD on CBC Radio2Morning.

I'd go see him again because I love his music. My husband, however, has a harder time "separating the artist from his art" and is much less forgiving. As far as he's concerned there are so many other great down-tempo, sad bastard singer-songwriters out there worth listening to and seeing live. He's through with Koz!

Yeah, I agree. In addition to repeatedly taking shots at the tennis shoe guys he also did the chat-up-the-pretty-girl-in-the-front-row thing (and made fun of the guy she was with). For the most part this was an audience that pretty much hung on his every word and obediently went silent whenever he shushed us which was before every song. Yet when a dude innocently asked him how many shows he had played on this tour he barked out, "Count, you f*cking idiot!" Harsh! I have a hard time reconciling this general dickishness with a guy who writes songs like Carissa and Among the Leaves.

It was great. Chris Connolly was on keys and a fellow named Eric Pollard played drums. They played all of "Benji" except Newtown, Jim Wise and Ben's. Then they played about 6 or 7 songs including Livingstone Bramble, Katowicz or Cologne, You Missed My Heart, Gustavo (probably my favourite song of the evening), Caroline and Ceiling Gazing. If you're a long-time fan (which I'm not) and went in hoping to hear some of Koz's older stuff or Red House Painters stuff you may have been a bit disappointed. He did a lot of audience-insulting and shushing before each song. I haven't quite figured this

What is the best era of keyboard players in Wilco?
radiatortunes replied to choo-choo-charlie's topic in Just A Fan
Bach & Jorgensen for me, for the exact reason provided by choo-choo-charlie. I love those spaces! My favourite Wilco live era. -
Sending love and positive vibes to Sue and the Tweedy family.

Re: the "I hate Nels Cline" line in "Livingstone Bramble"...I've read in a couple of articles that Kozelek was just goofing around: http://www.nodepression.com/profiles/blogs/interview-mark-kozelek-and-phil-carney-of-desertshore

I stayed at Maple Terrace for SSF2 and The Willows for SSF3. They're pretty much across the street from one another and super close to the shuttle bus stop. They're both small, family-owned outfits. I think the rooms at MT are marginally nicer. The grounds/scenery at MT is definitely nicer. The pool at The Willows wasn't open until the last day despite assurances otherwise. I paid just under CAD $800 for four nights at the Willows which is pretty expensive considering what you get (i.e. compared to other cities) but you can't look at it that way or you'll go crazy. You can walk to Williamstown

Yes, thanks. Will check out their ACL set.

Unfortunately, we've got Shovels and Rope and not BT opening here in Vancouver. Anyone a fan? Suggestions?

Jeff Tweedy - 6 jan 14 at the Up Comedy Club Chicago
radiatortunes replied to Spoodledude's topic in After The Show
We had $300 tickets, as well, and the hostess seated us very close to the front, just off to the right. We shared the back half of a tiny round table with another couple who were directly in front of the stage. I think the improv folks set the mood because Jeff was having a great time joking around, starting and stopping songs for hilarious extended banter. The cuff on his left sleeve got caught on his guitar at the beginning of "Kamera" which lead to some funny stuff, mostly Jeff imitating himself and singing in that goof-off voice like when he forgot the words to "Far, Far Away" at one -
I'm just one listen in and loving it!

Thanks for your thoughts on the show, bbop. Always an interesting read. Wow, I can't even begin to imagine how annoying this must have been. -

Hey, that's great! I hope other VCers who got shut out get that email as well.

That's a really gorgeous version of "Tom Courtenay"

Exactly. The band announced a Sept show that I wasn't super excited about due to the venue. But after listening to the record on repeat for a few days I decided there's no way I could miss that show, so now I'm going!

I took the good advice of folks on this board and called for a full refund on my Irvine pre-sale tickets yesterday. This morning I pulled 4 in the Lower Level Orchestra so I'm really pleased.

Sorry to hear this. I'm a little disappointed, too. At 10am I pulled Loge 5 Row PP and I (foolishly) thought I could do better than this. For the next 20 minutes I kept getting Terrace seats. After getting shut out of the site completely by Live Nation I bought Loge 4 seats via my phone. Maybe I should have waited until Sat, too.
