  1. Lots of the colored (white) vinyl at Newbury Comics in Harvard Square.
  2. oddly enough, at 10:12 I just pulled the same seats again. Thanks ticket gods!!!
  3. Pulled 9th row for Boston and let them go like an idiot. Oh well.
  4. Now if only we get those solo shows! I'm really thrilled the Boston show is at The Orpheum. I like that place so much more than the venues in the Theatre District. See you there!
  5. Bumping a very old thread to post a link to Josh's new album, Sermon on the Rocks: http://www.npr.org/2015/10/07/445261578/first-listen-josh-ritter-sermon-on-the-rocks?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=allsongs&utm_term=music&utm_content=202508 A definite departure from his last album, which I really enjoyed. I think I enjoy the slower, depressing songs. Thoughts?
  6. I'm hoping Wilco hits the Northeast in early 2016, then Jeff returns later in the year for a few solo shows. I feel like it's been a while since I've seen a proper solo show.
  7. I saw the folk singer Tom Brosseau tonight in Cambridge, MA. Maybe the best show I've seen all year, and there were 11 people there.
  8. During their first Daytrotter, Punch Brothers covered Poor Places. There's an okay version on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5mlEbgIs4o
  9. If you can find any Casey beers (Glenwood Springs, CO), those are really worth checking out. Wonderful saisons... I'm not sure where in CO they distribute, though.
  10. Streaming now on Spotify: https://play.spotify.com/album/0MVK1j7wrUkBZ09ZuMURJA
  11. Listen to the first track off of DRA's upcoming Taylor Swift 1989 covers album: http://pitchfork.com/news/61239-ryan-adams-covers-taylor-swifts-bad-blood/ It's great & I can't wait to hear the album in its entirety. I really hope that he treats one of the songs like he did Wonderwall, and basically strips it down to just vocals & acoustic guitar.
  12. werdstuff: can you share some thoughts or memories about jay bennett? WilcoJeff: Jay Bennett could eat more ketchup than anyone I've ever seen. I miss him.
  13. Not a concert, but saw the opening night for Waitress at The American Repertory theatre last night. Truth be told, I was begrudgingly tagging along with a group who are really into musicals, but I had a great time. If you're in the Boston area, I'd check this out before it hits Broadway in the Spring.
  14. I saw them open for Nickel Creek a while back. I enjoyed their set, but the stage banter was cringe worthy. Like really, really uncomfortable.
  15. Nothing. He obsessively blocks people. One time I tweeted that he might be my favorite songwriter. I think that might've done it. I lurk on the To Be Young forum, and it seems that he's blocked most everyone there, too. It's mostly a nonissue because he posts crappy pictures of himself and tons of cat pictures. But, he often announces vinyl releases via Twitter and I've missed out on some in the past.
  16. It's pretty good. It's no Speak Now, but the more I listen, the more I think it's better than Red.
  17. BREAKING: Ryan Adams Says He's Recording 1989 Cover Album; Taylor Swift Says "I WILL PASS OUT" http://pitchfork.com/news/60703-ryan-adams-says-hes-recording-1989-cover-album-taylor-swift-says-i-will-pass-out/ Wish that I could follow along on Twitter, but DRA blocked me long ago.
  18. No need to apologize, I appreciate the thorough recap. TWFH was the highlight of my NFF experience last year, and I was sad to miss this one, especially considering the new record and all-star band. Sounds like it was a really great show -- I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! I'm looking forward to watching those youtube videos when I get out of work!
  19. i could be down for this... PM w/ details
  20. Could not disagree more with the writer who thinks that Sufjan should've headlined over the Decemberists. Not only does she not make a compelling case (or a case at all, really), but the fact that she referred to Sufjan's set as "legendary" calls to question whether or not she was even paying attention. I love Sufjan, but that set was pretty mediocre at best. Festival-friendly set list, lots of vocal flubs, etc... It was fun, but there's a reason the Decemberists are a better festival headliner and it showed. It's not just the music, Colin Meloy knows how to work a crowd, and I think he did
  21. James Taylor as the surprise guest on Saturday?! https://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/names/2015/07/23/james-taylor-make-surprise-appearance-newport-folk-festival/TWW2PO6PsDu0PIGaJIncQI/story.html#
  22. It pains me to know, but who were the guests for the Watkins Family Hour? How was it? SO wish that I was there...
