I saw him open for Counting Crows in 2002 in NYC. He was very good, but I've not kept up with him. When I saw him he was supporting The Fine Art of Self Destruction, which is the only one of his albums that I return to. That album was produced by Ryan Adams, who is a very vocal Malin fan. Funnily enough, I was browsing through Jesse Malin's Instagram feed the other day, and noticed that he made a post about sharing the bill with Tweedy. Ryan Adams made a pretty snarky comment:

Vic Tweedy benefit shows announced for May 13 and 14

I'm contemplating traveling for these shows. Any hotel advice for an out of towner? Would like to do some touristy stuff, but being able to get to the venue with ease is important. Any advice is appreciated! -
Magnetized > Spiders was actually the highlight for me. Maybe it's because the material is still new, but the songs from Star Wars feel pretty unique to the album. Hearing Spiders after Magnetized helped break down that barrier between new/old; Spiders felt like something that could've been on SW. Maybe I'm just making something out of nothing, but I thoroughly enjoyed this iteration of Spiders and appreciated its placement in the set. I was, like most, hoping for more variety. I have 0 complaints though. The band was all business. There was no talking and no breaks between songs. I'm tha

Wilco — 1/29/16, Boston, MA (Orpheum Theatre) [Night 1 of 2]

I had an awesome time last night. My vantage point from 6th row center aisle meant that I had probably the best view of Glenn that I've ever had. And what a treat that was -- I was mesmerized by his playing, especially on the new songs. Star Wars was, without question, the highlight for me. I love the record, but those songs really come alive in a live setting. I was noticing things about them that I've missed in my repeated listening of the album. Needless to say, I will not be disappointed if/when the band starts the show tonight with the album in full. Only slight bummer was the omissi -

Glad to be reading your reports again, Bbop! Can't wait for Friday/Saturday. -
I agree, Boston is lucky to have Trillium. I'm hopeful that their expansion means that we will begin to see their offerings on daft in Boston/ Cambridge. My comment about HF wasn't a dig at Trillium. IMHO, HF is just a different caliber. I believe RateBeer has voted them Best Brewery in the World 3 or so times in the last 5 years. Their farmhouse ales (saisons) are stunning. I'd be happy to hook you up w/ a bottle. Not sure if the Orpheum will allow you to bring a 750ml bottle in?

I love Focal Banger; can't wait for Alchemist to start distributing it! And Hill Farmstead is the best brewery in the country. Of their bottled beers, I'd have to say that Arthur is my favorite.

If anyone is looking, Amazon has the Pro-ject Debut Carbon DC Turntable with Ortofon Om10 Cartridge (Black and Red) on sale as a "Lightning Deal" for $299. A good price, I think.

This duo makes so much sense.

Really enjoyed this. Went to explore other episodes and listened to The National's episode next. Maybe even better than the Tweedy ep.

Isn't attendance capped at 30 people? At $4,500/person, my dream of attending one of these is... a dream.

I'm probably in the minority, but I'd rank her last release as her best. Hoping she swings through Boston in 2016.

I saw the first of their two shows at Passim. I believe that they play Friday at Lizard Lounge. I was really impressed with them, and am happy to have caught this intimate performance. Man, what a tight band! I know that Rachel Price gets most of the attention because she has a beautiful voice (and isn't so bad to look at!), but Bridget Kearney killed it on the stand up bass. Certainly the best bass player that I've seen since seeing Edgar Meyer last winter. As much as I hate House of Blues, I'm thinking of getting tickets to see their upcoming show there. They played the majority of thei

Lake Street Dive. I don't know a lot of their material but it's at a tiny place in Cambridge and I need to see some live music!

One of my favorite bands. I've probably seen them 20+ times over the years, and they've only gotten better. I'm looking forward to their "hometown" show in Boston come January.
