BREAKING: Ryan Adams Says He's Recording 1989 Cover Album; Taylor Swift Says "I WILL PASS OUT" http://pitchfork.com/news/60703-ryan-adams-says-hes-recording-1989-cover-album-taylor-swift-says-i-will-pass-out/ Wish that I could follow along on Twitter, but DRA blocked me long ago.

No need to apologize, I appreciate the thorough recap. TWFH was the highlight of my NFF experience last year, and I was sad to miss this one, especially considering the new record and all-star band. Sounds like it was a really great show -- I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! I'm looking forward to watching those youtube videos when I get out of work!

i could be down for this... PM w/ details

Could not disagree more with the writer who thinks that Sufjan should've headlined over the Decemberists. Not only does she not make a compelling case (or a case at all, really), but the fact that she referred to Sufjan's set as "legendary" calls to question whether or not she was even paying attention. I love Sufjan, but that set was pretty mediocre at best. Festival-friendly set list, lots of vocal flubs, etc... It was fun, but there's a reason the Decemberists are a better festival headliner and it showed. It's not just the music, Colin Meloy knows how to work a crowd, and I think he did

James Taylor as the surprise guest on Saturday?! https://www.bostonglobe.com/lifestyle/names/2015/07/23/james-taylor-make-surprise-appearance-newport-folk-festival/TWW2PO6PsDu0PIGaJIncQI/story.html#

It pains me to know, but who were the guests for the Watkins Family Hour? How was it? SO wish that I was there...

enjoy!! hopefully you don't find blake mills to be as insufferable as i do.

I am getting very excited for NFF! Super bummed to be missing The Watkins Family Hour, especially now that they've announced that Joe Pug will be joining. Any guesses about who the unannounced bands are on Friday and Saturday? It looks like there's an unannounced band on Friday from 5:30PM-6:30PM right before Roger Waters (with no break in between, oddly enough), and another unannounced on Saturday from 3:45 - 4:45.

Cold Slope is a real stand out.

Damn. You Satellite is going to be a doozy live.

i feel like weeping i'm so happy. i'm on track 2 & i'm in love.

I wish that I could "like" your post, so I'll quote it instead. I think the TWEEDY record was a refreshing change of pace -- let's hope some of that inspiration carries over into the next Wilco record.
-
They did this for the Chicago run, too. Like last time, they waited to post the bundle. Oh well!
-
I mostly agree, though I'm guessing that I've enjoyed some of Wilco's recent albums more than you have. I don't doubt that the current lineup is capable of making a great record, they definitely are, but I think a change could be good. (I'd also much prefer Jeff or Pat play lead instead of Nels)

I was on the rail on the right side, and I couldn't hear Mikael at all.

Spotted myself! So funny that in the two press photos I've found myself in (yours and Mass Live) I have the biggest grin on my face while looking at the stage. Guess I was having a good time... Also, anyone know the story behind Jeff's SSF Martin guitar? The photo is the first I've seen it, unless I've just never noticed the emblem.

I've been obsessing over the solo Carnegie Hall shows. Between the set lists, the excellent recording, and the banter... these are a real treasure. The vinyl box sets, which were pressed in 2 limited runs, has started showing up for reasonable prices online, and I've even seen the 6LP set in a local record store.

While we're all whining, I'd like to take this time to complain that I'm not in any of your photos this year.

I'm guessing that the higher attendance has less to do with new fans, and more to do with more and more people hearing about this awesome, affordable festival. This was my fourth SSF, and also the first SSF where I really had people trying to cut in front of me. The first night I was in the second row and I had a girl walk directly in front of me. I quickly tapped her on the shoulder and she moved. The second night we sort of packed in tighter with our chairs, and that seemed to have worked. Still, it was obvious that once Wilco took the stage we were surrounded by a bunch of new faces.

Wilco - Solid Sound Night 2 Sat June 27, 2015
knotgreen replied to u2roolz's topic in After The Show
Wish I didn't know about that second encore.... damn. Still, one of the best Wilco shows I've been to. This SSF was a different experience for me. I usually attend w/ my father, who wasn't able to make it this year. I was not feeling my usual excitement leading up to the festival, but once the band took the stage on Friday night I really got lost in the experience. The acoustic night was a blast, but it had been nearly 2 years since my last proper Wilco show, so I was really itching for the electric stuff. Saturday did not disappoint! -
great photos, as always. really love the one posted above w/ the rain!
-
You don't own a Wilco (the poncho) Poncho? I can't recall if it was the first or second SSF but I recall being part of a poncho rainbow down on the field... We were soaked, but it was a good time!
-
Rain = fewer people waiting in Joe's Field = better spot for you.... & I'm not an optimist. Just bring your poncho & it'll be great.

For Heady, check http://www.headyspotter.com for retail locations. You can sort by location or which day of the week you're looking. If you're in Montpelier, definitely Hunger Mountain. You should be able to grab some Lawson's there. I'd also recommend grabbing Lost Nation's Gose, which LN has recently started to can. In addition, there's a Craft Beer Cellar nearby -- there's a small chance they'll have some leftover Heady. I think on my last Friday trip, I was able to grab a 4 pack at the Cold Hollow Cider place, not far from Montpelier. Good luck!

From an email announcement: Ok friends, it’s getting close. Solid Sound is just under a month away. You already know about the music, comedy, art, food, beer, cider, nature hikes, circus acts and more, but if that’s not enough, we’re throwing in a few more things to remind you that this really is a festival like no other, starting with a very special Wilco set Friday night. For the first time ever, the guys will unplug their instruments and perform a full set of Wilco tunes acoustically. If you’ve seen the band on its recent tour you may have seen them do a mini-set like this (i.e.: this p
