  1. I've been obsessing over the solo Carnegie Hall shows. Between the set lists, the excellent recording, and the banter... these are a real treasure. The vinyl box sets, which were pressed in 2 limited runs, has started showing up for reasonable prices online, and I've even seen the 6LP set in a local record store.
  2. While we're all whining, I'd like to take this time to complain that I'm not in any of your photos this year.
  3. I'm guessing that the higher attendance has less to do with new fans, and more to do with more and more people hearing about this awesome, affordable festival. This was my fourth SSF, and also the first SSF where I really had people trying to cut in front of me. The first night I was in the second row and I had a girl walk directly in front of me. I quickly tapped her on the shoulder and she moved. The second night we sort of packed in tighter with our chairs, and that seemed to have worked. Still, it was obvious that once Wilco took the stage we were surrounded by a bunch of new faces.
  4. Wish I didn't know about that second encore.... damn. Still, one of the best Wilco shows I've been to. This SSF was a different experience for me. I usually attend w/ my father, who wasn't able to make it this year. I was not feeling my usual excitement leading up to the festival, but once the band took the stage on Friday night I really got lost in the experience. The acoustic night was a blast, but it had been nearly 2 years since my last proper Wilco show, so I was really itching for the electric stuff. Saturday did not disappoint!
  5. great photos, as always. really love the one posted above w/ the rain!
  6. You don't own a Wilco (the poncho) Poncho? I can't recall if it was the first or second SSF but I recall being part of a poncho rainbow down on the field... We were soaked, but it was a good time!
  7. Rain = fewer people waiting in Joe's Field = better spot for you.... & I'm not an optimist. Just bring your poncho & it'll be great.
  8. For Heady, check http://www.headyspotter.com for retail locations. You can sort by location or which day of the week you're looking. If you're in Montpelier, definitely Hunger Mountain. You should be able to grab some Lawson's there. I'd also recommend grabbing Lost Nation's Gose, which LN has recently started to can. In addition, there's a Craft Beer Cellar nearby -- there's a small chance they'll have some leftover Heady. I think on my last Friday trip, I was able to grab a 4 pack at the Cold Hollow Cider place, not far from Montpelier. Good luck!
  9. From an email announcement: Ok friends, it’s getting close. Solid Sound is just under a month away. You already know about the music, comedy, art, food, beer, cider, nature hikes, circus acts and more, but if that’s not enough, we’re throwing in a few more things to remind you that this really is a festival like no other, starting with a very special Wilco set Friday night. For the first time ever, the guys will unplug their instruments and perform a full set of Wilco tunes acoustically. If you’ve seen the band on its recent tour you may have seen them do a mini-set like this (i.e.: this p
  10. How was SVE? I adore her, but I really, really hate Boston Calling. The venue/ crowd is a real deal breaker for me.

  12. Newport Folk Fest ‏@Newportfolkfest Folk: Please welcome to TheFort for the 1st @tommy_stinson w/ pals @dookiefinger @LutherDickinson & @_FrankFerrer_ Saturday, 7/25.
  13. honestly, it was one of the most moving shows i've ever been to. i understand both of the negative remarks that your friends had: yes, the show was bound to be a tad depressing, but if you're at all familiar with his new record you'd expect as much. as for the pretension... couldn't that be said of any act that takes itself seriously? maybe your friend was referring to the one time that sufjan really addressed the crowd? i found it endearing & it helped put some of his lyrics into perspective. the big take away for me was just how well the band adapted those new songs. songs that are tot
  14. Last time I saw Sufjan he was wearing more than wings. This is his "Christmas Unicorn" outfit:
  15. FYI - a lot of RSD releases available here: http://ltcds.com/general-information/record-store-day-2015-web-sale-2/ Just got the Ryan Adams 7" and Blitzen Trapper "Harvest" that I missed out on.
  16. Cool! I'm wearing an orange button-up shirt, and will be with my girlfriend. Both in our late twenties. Come say hi if you feel like it!
  17. I'm super excited to be seeing Sufjan Stevens this evening. I was shut out of the presale, and had no luck during the regular on sale. I had accepted the fact that I wouldn't be going, but continued to check Ticketmaster once or twice a day. A week or two ago I logged in and pulled 6th row center. Sort of can't believe it! I'm in love with his new record, and can't wait to hear those songs live!
  18. If you're willing to make the haul to Monson, MA you should check out Tree House Brewing. They recently started canning their beers (in addition to growler fills), and they are pumping out some amazing beer. I've been drinking more TH than Trillium lately, myself. Ha!
  19. I so regret not picking up the vinyl set. I had it in my cart and decided it was too expensive. Ugh.... Listening on Spotify until I can find it at a reasonable price.
  20. Pretty cool -- the entire set was professionally recorded. Not all of it has been posted, but a handful of songs... Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_1190590363&feature=iv&src_vid=xpZrRDjExo0&v=_H2o217hqJU
  21. that would be incredible. would happily take you up on that!
  22. How's the Blitzen Trapper LP? This was the only release I wanted on RSD and I couldn't find a copy... They're on eBay for 4X retail price...
