  1. I know this isn't the place for this sorta question, but I'm going to ask anyway! If any LA natives/frequent travelers have a recommendation on where might be nice place to stay for a few days, that wouldn't be terribly inconvenient for a drive to Largo, I'm all ears! Even just a neighborhood with some nice restaurants/shops would be a great place to start. Also, curious if those who went to the last JT run there (2013?) can comment on how early that GA line begins to form... From what I've read on Largo's site, their method of assigning GA seats seems pretty well organized, but I'm not sur
  2. "Dynamite My Soul" can be streamed on Pitchfork: https://pitchfork.com/news/wilco-share-unreleased-being-there-song-dynamite-my-soul-listen/
  3. Jeff opened one of YLT's Hanukkah shows at Maxwell's (12/03/2010). Pretty sure YLT opened for Wilco the year before for their Coney Island show, but my memory isn't very good (and I wasn't there).
  4. Jeff will be a guest on Prairie Home Companion on 12/16 in NYC. He has the holiday show on 12/15, and it appears that YLT have their Hanukkah residency at Bowery Ballroom that same week. Good chance that he opens one of those shows, too.
  5. If it's any cheaper for you, I'd be happy to proxy. You can have it shipped to me, and I'll send it to you. I know some people get great FedEx/UPS discounts. FWIW, shipping was ~$11 or so for me. Might not save very much, but I'd be happy to help.
  6. Mostly very excited for these...A little bummed, though, that the $80 LP set doesn't include even a digital copy of the Live at The Troubadour set...
  7. Pat is Joe's guest on the newest episode of The Working Songwriter, which was recorded at Newport Folk Fest. Check it out here: https://soundcloud.com/twspodcast/pat-sansone or it can be found wherever you typically download podcasts on your phone. Joe writes: The creative force behind The Autumn Defense and a longtime member of Wilco discusses growing up in a musical household, playing punk bars in the American south, and locking himself in the studio to get a song finished.
  8. Had a great weekend in Portland, which started with the American Acoustic show at the State Theatre and ended last night with Wilco. No real setlist curveballs, but that didn't take away from what was an enjoyable set. I can't think of many banter additions, aside from Jeff mentioning that John is living in Maine. He said something along the lines of: "We love it here so much that we installed an ambassador." As he seems to be doing nightly, Jeff touched upon the political climate, which was bookended with comments to the effect of: "grow your hair long until Trump is impeached so that we
  9. A brewery out of Burlington, VT, called Foam Brewers is producing some top-notch hoppy beers. In an area that's basically producing some of, if not THE best beer in the country, it's impressive that a newcomer like Foam has gained traction so quickly. I appreciate their beer names too, which include: Pavement, Built to Spill, Son Volt, Joy Division, etc. Maybe one day they'll make a Wilco! Full list of beers available here: https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/45496/
  10. Come up to Portland. It'll be a better show anyway.
  11. New album from The National, Sleep Well Beast, out on Sept. 9. I'm really enjoying the first song that they've released, 'The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness': https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O6duDDkhis
  12. Me too! Going to be a cold night at Harbor Lights.
  13. Added to Newport Folk Fest on Sat, July 29.
  14. As of this morning, BT and YHF are tied at 26%.
  15. Wow.... While it's not my favorite Wilco album, I too am voting for BT.
  16. Would trade Ron for Howie any day.
  17. Must be the beard and that he let himself gray. I actually think he looks better in the current photo above.
  18. I think the thing that ticks me off the most is not the setlist, which is tired and repetitive, but the absurd ticket prices. I think I've said this elsewhere in this thread, but for a guy who rallied against "golden circles" and made a stink about his album prices, he's turned into a total hypocrite. I think to get anywhere near the first 15 rows you had to spend $400 +. Also, after having seen a Mudcrutch show a year or so ago... I totally understand the shorter set. He was shaking and seemed pretty frail then. As others have said, I would probably shell out some serious $$ to see an in

  21. When I think about SSF, I mostly think about quality time with my father, who attended the first 3 with me (and the benefit show at Mass MoCa on one of the off-years). My fondest memories are for SSF1. It was all so new, and to experience that with fellow fans and the band was really exciting. I think about chatting with John and Pat while waiting for coffee. Standing next to Nels in the Hunter and talking about what a joy the festival was. I think about that relentless rain, and how someone in Joe's field orchestrated a photo op, arranging us by the color of our ponchos. Music-wise, I think
