  1. I'm not hard on the band for not mixing up the setlists as much as they once did. Most people aren't going to multiple shows or traveling far and wide, and so a "standardized" setlist where they're rotating a few songs makes sense; they are catering to a wider audience. But, if I'm being honest, the incentive to travel to Chicago or St. Paul just wasn't there for me, given that I will have seen a few shows already on this tour and that the sets will (probably) be identical. I'll save my rock tourism dollars for the next solo tour.

    Wilcovered

What a cool surprise! I am loving Cate Le Bon's Company In My Back. It both sounds like a Wilco song and a Cate Le Bon song, which I think is what you want out of a cover. FWIW, I would pay top dollar for an entire Courtney Barnett Wilco covers album. I agree w/ the comment above about a vinyl version. Edit: any word on if these songs were recorded at The Loft?
  3. What a loss. Love his words. Was really enjoying the Purple Mountains album & was planning to see him at the end of the month.
  4. In your absence the least I can do is jot down the setlist! No encore, and, if memory serves, immediately following IATMWLY Jeff said something like "that was the encore!" Frankly, I'm happy he omitted the charade of leaving and coming back if it meant more music, which seems to have been the case. Speaking of which, I had no idea that he'd done Plateau previously - what a great song, and his rendition especially. As a small aside: during soundcheck Jeff played John Wesley Harding, which was very cool as I hadn't heard him play it in quite a long time, if ever. I thought maybe he'd play it dur
  5. Jeff took the stage at “Lincoln Center’s Parking Lot” at 8:30, following a performance by Helen Gillet, and finished a few minutes before 10:00. There was no encore. Bombs Above Some Birds I Am Trying To Break Your Heart An Empty Corner Don’t Forget New Madrid Having Been Is No Way To Be White Wooden Cross Impossible Germany [guitar parts only for Television’s Marquee Moon] Plateau (Meat Puppets) I Know What It’s Like Hummingbird You and I Guaranteed Jesus, Etc. Family Ghost Evergreen Ashes of Americans Flags We’ve Been Had Let’s Go Rain I’m The Man Who Loves You
  6. So I suppose that we've heard 5/11 of the tracks already, right? Before Us (SSF installation), White Wooden Cross (SSF and Jeff's been playing it solo), An Empty Corner (SSF), Everyone Hides (St. Vincent movie soundtrack), and today's premiere of Love is Everywhere. No surprise here, but I am really enjoying Love is Everywhere.
  7. I really love the bonus track that was included in the Warm/Warmer combo. I've said it before, but I think Jeff's writing some of his best songs right now. If the three new Wilco tracks are any indication, LP11 is gonna be something special.
  8. I almost always leave the festival Sunday morning, but we we decided to stick around this year. I’m so glad we did so, as we caught Buck Meek’s set, which was great (he’s got a little band in tow), and then Jonathan Richman’s set prior to Tweedy. I have to admit that I didn’t know any of JR’s music but found myself grinning ear-to-ear during his set. What a performer! Moments like those are what make SSF such a special event. And the people, of course. So good seeing so many familiar faces.
  9. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I don't agree with you at all. I actually think that they've done a damn good job NOT becoming a nostalgic act.
  10. In what way(s) are they a nostalgic act?
  11. It is up on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwCluIB_C2c
  12. Is that the video stream or just audio? I don't have a Dime account, but I hope that the video stream ends up on YouTube!
  13. This shit is criminal. I wish there was a way to boycott TM without just skipping the shows altogether.
  14. Jeff will be on the Cayamo cruise, Feb. 3-10, Miami to St. Croix and Antigua. http://www.cayamo.com
  15. same. also the packaging looks really nice. i'll probably pass on the preorder and end up buying it at ssf because i'm a sucker who can't help himself.
  16. Daily lineup is available here: https://gallery.mailchimp.com/4a616680c4505859bbc832df7/_compresseds/86009cdb-a8a1-4372-9cd2-0753beb5ca6e.jpg Am I understanding correctly that Buck Meek's only performance is going to be a pop up? That seems sort of unusual.
  17. Oh does it feel good to be reading a recap of a Wilco gig! Thanks for the detailed report, Paul! Hope you all have a great time tonight.

    Boston

Henry, they're not PIT but I have a pair in Orch D if you're interested.
  19. ALL TICKETS SOLD. Thursday, October 10 Boston, MA ORCHRC Row D Seat 24 ORCHRC Row D Seat 26 $185.20 for the pair (Face Value) and Saturday, October 12 New York, NY ORCH2 Row FF Seat 201 $112.35 (Face Value)
  20. You'll just need an account on Ticketmaster, I believe. BTW thanks for sharing the Thursday codes for Boston. I'll probably need them given TM's implementation of their virtual "waiting room" which opens at some unknown time before the pre-pre-sale. I love going to these shows but the ticket buying process is just unnecessarily stressful. If anyone has any info on additional NYC presales I'd be super appreciative
  21. I'm pretty torn on this. Part of me would rather just spend the $$ traveling around the US to catch a few shows on the next Wilco tour. On the other hand, it's a getaway in the middle of winter to see my favorite band... I am curious about the type of attendees these destination shows attract. There's a reason I never went on a traditional spring break trip in college.
  22. You can actually turn on email notifications for when your post gets quoted (i just received one ). Safe travels - hope you're having a nice time!
  23. This is promising! Free show in NYC on Friday, and NFF on Saturday...
