  1. The very least I can do in your absence! My vantage point was such that I really only heard Jeff and a little of Glenn. It was certainly more stripped down than a proper "unplugged" rendition, and closer to a JT solo rendition. At least that's probably what most of the venue could hear, if they could hear anything at all.
  2. And so begins the Ode to Joy USA tour! What a treat to have the band back in town and at one of our nicest theaters. The last time Wilco took the stage at The Wang was in 2011 in support of The Whole Love (and featured one of my very favorite show posters to date - Ode to Citgo). The band took the stage at 8:30 and as they had done across Europe launched into two new ones: Bright Leaves and Before Us. I will say that one of my favorite parts of seeing this band on a tour in which they're supporting new material is to experience how the new songs integrate with older material. That was wha
  3. This album release has sure brought out the worst in Wilco fans. Love or hate OtJ, a few minutes in that FaceBook group is more unpleasant than any music Jeff has put out in his entire career. It's really sucking the fun out of this album cycle.
  4. I spoke too soon. Shipped and arriving next Tuesday. Not sure why I bother ordering directly from the band. It costs more and arrives late.
  5. No shipment notification for me yet (ordered the pink vinyl on 07/16/2019).
  6. I cannot wait. Crossing my fingers that the LP shows up on Friday.
  7. Thanks, as always, for your reporting! Sure is the next best thing to being there!

    Wilcovered

Has anyone heard the album? I got an email yesterday that my issue has shipped, but have to imagine it'll be a week or so before it arrives.
  9. That's definitely more variety than I remembered. I feel like you get two unique shows (nights 1 and 3 are similar & 2 and 4). As another data point, they played 4 nights at the Beacon on the Schmilco tour where they played 25-29 song sets, with 47 unique songs.
  10. I'm not hard on the band for not mixing up the setlists as much as they once did. Most people aren't going to multiple shows or traveling far and wide, and so a "standardized" setlist where they're rotating a few songs makes sense; they are catering to a wider audience. But, if I'm being honest, the incentive to travel to Chicago or St. Paul just wasn't there for me, given that I will have seen a few shows already on this tour and that the sets will (probably) be identical. I'll save my rock tourism dollars for the next solo tour.

What a cool surprise! I am loving Cate Le Bon's Company In My Back. It both sounds like a Wilco song and a Cate Le Bon song, which I think is what you want out of a cover. FWIW, I would pay top dollar for an entire Courtney Barnett Wilco covers album. I agree w/ the comment above about a vinyl version. Edit: any word on if these songs were recorded at The Loft?
  12. What a loss. Love his words. Was really enjoying the Purple Mountains album & was planning to see him at the end of the month.
  13. In your absence the least I can do is jot down the setlist! No encore, and, if memory serves, immediately following IATMWLY Jeff said something like "that was the encore!" Frankly, I'm happy he omitted the charade of leaving and coming back if it meant more music, which seems to have been the case. Speaking of which, I had no idea that he'd done Plateau previously - what a great song, and his rendition especially. As a small aside: during soundcheck Jeff played John Wesley Harding, which was very cool as I hadn't heard him play it in quite a long time, if ever. I thought maybe he'd play it dur
  14. Jeff took the stage at “Lincoln Center’s Parking Lot” at 8:30, following a performance by Helen Gillet, and finished a few minutes before 10:00. There was no encore. Bombs Above Some Birds I Am Trying To Break Your Heart An Empty Corner Don’t Forget New Madrid Having Been Is No Way To Be White Wooden Cross Impossible Germany [guitar parts only for Television’s Marquee Moon] Plateau (Meat Puppets) I Know What It’s Like Hummingbird You and I Guaranteed Jesus, Etc. Family Ghost Evergreen Ashes of Americans Flags We’ve Been Had Let’s Go Rain I’m The Man Who Loves You
  15. So I suppose that we've heard 5/11 of the tracks already, right? Before Us (SSF installation), White Wooden Cross (SSF and Jeff's been playing it solo), An Empty Corner (SSF), Everyone Hides (St. Vincent movie soundtrack), and today's premiere of Love is Everywhere. No surprise here, but I am really enjoying Love is Everywhere.
  16. I really love the bonus track that was included in the Warm/Warmer combo. I've said it before, but I think Jeff's writing some of his best songs right now. If the three new Wilco tracks are any indication, LP11 is gonna be something special.
  17. I almost always leave the festival Sunday morning, but we we decided to stick around this year. I’m so glad we did so, as we caught Buck Meek’s set, which was great (he’s got a little band in tow), and then Jonathan Richman’s set prior to Tweedy. I have to admit that I didn’t know any of JR’s music but found myself grinning ear-to-ear during his set. What a performer! Moments like those are what make SSF such a special event. And the people, of course. So good seeing so many familiar faces.
  18. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but I don't agree with you at all. I actually think that they've done a damn good job NOT becoming a nostalgic act.
  19. In what way(s) are they a nostalgic act?
  20. It is up on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwCluIB_C2c
  21. Is that the video stream or just audio? I don't have a Dime account, but I hope that the video stream ends up on YouTube!
  22. This shit is criminal. I wish there was a way to boycott TM without just skipping the shows altogether.
  23. Jeff will be on the Cayamo cruise, Feb. 3-10, Miami to St. Croix and Antigua. http://www.cayamo.com
