this gave me a good laugh. thanks.
  2. i've never seen shake it off. is it worth picking up another copy of SBS to get it?
  3. i drove cross country over the summer and stopped briefly in cleveland. unfortunately, the rrhof was closing so we didn't have the opportunity to walk around. we did, however, check out what was in the lobby. jay bennett's guitar was in one of the cases:
  4. really? picture shows up for me... i'll try once more: the mat and frame appear much darker than they actually are. the problem was, whenever i put an extra light on, the glare on the glass was overwhelming.
  5. sorry to resurrect this... my father had his solid sound poster framed, thought i'd share. the picture doesn't quite do it justice. but, you get the general idea.
  6. paul shaffer irritates the hell out of me.
  7. fellow readers, is anyone planning on attending any of the new yorker festival events in october? kind of bummed that most are sold out. frantically searching craigslist/ebay... oh and i'm currently reading jonathan franzen's novel strong motion. ~100 pages in and enjoying it. as a massachusetts native i'm really getting a kick out of his descriptions of somerville/ boston area.
  8. from an e-mail on agu 30th: Greetings Solid Sounders, Last week, we discovered a few of our latest shirts (all sold at Solid Sound) have an issue with excessive shrinking when tumbled dry. The defective shirts - indigo Solid Sound Tee (both olive and orange prints), pale yellow Solid Sound Stache Tee and brown Wilco 70s Tee - are all made in the USA, using yarn that was not woven correctly. Because this cotton yarn wasn't woven tightly, the shirts experience a considerable amount of shrinkage and torque when washed. Thus, we will be replacing these defective shirts with new, US-made tees
  9. I was order #667. I've yet to receive that e-mail, though I'm sort of expecting it at this point.
  10. i also e-mailed a week ago asking for a tracking number, never heard back...
  11. while i've done this as well, it's just not the same as having it professionally done. not only will a frame shop have a wider selection of materials, but the quality of the frames tends to be much greater than those that you would pick up at any arts/crafts store. also, a frame shop will use a better quality glass that will protect the print beneath.
  12. i started this thread a while back: http://forums.viachicago.org/topic/42025-framed-wilco-poster/page__p__1375781__hl__framed__fromsearch__1#entry1375781 picture of framed solid sound poster will come in the next week or two
  13. due to the sale on wilco's site, i'm thinking of ordering the autumn defense's "circles" on vinyl--- only $12. they were great at solid sound, but i've yet to hear their studio material. can anyone vouch for this album?
  14. i ordered it, came to $19USD. thanks for the heads up!
  15. wilco store was updated with the prints that were being made on site. already sold out there is, however, a silent auction for a signed copy of the festival poster. check it out!
  16. so... uh... what are the odds of a JT winter tour? withdrawal already.
  17. Admin Edit: Sorry, but Wilco mgmt. have asked that we not share live Wilco or Jeff Tweedy videos here on Via Chicago...see our VC Rules and Regulations. when this song is stripped down to its folksy roots, and i'm not distracted by the wild ambient noise, i'm reminded of how haunting the lyrics are. a nice performance by jeff though, can't believe it was a week ago! sort of going through wilco withdrawal now...
  18. roadhse, that was my father and i at the hotel/ orpheum show. nice to see you again, i'm sure we will be running into you at future wilco shows
  19. i just want to say that this festival exceeded my expectations. the museum was incredible, and the musicianship was incredible. one of the highlights for me was simply the attitude of the fans at both the wilco and jt solo set. i've never felt more comfortable or more relaxed at a concert before. at sunday's show, my father had fallen on the way into the field and cut up his hand and knee. the kindness and concern shown by those around us was absolutely remarkable. if any of those individuals happen to be on here, i just want to thank you all once more! what a fantastic weekend. thanks w
  20. not sure if this has been posted, but there is a video of jeff and mavis on the amazon page for her new album: http://www.amazon.com/You-Are-Alone-Mavis-Staples/dp/B003RDPYCG/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1281964010&sr=1-5 my favorite part was mavis saying, "i don't know where tweedy been all my life!" definitely worth watching
  21. hoping that it will be on par with the 'evening with wilco' setlists...
  22. let me rephrase: how about a co-headlining tour
  23. a wilco/arcade fire tour would be epic. feel as though the two would compliment one another pretty nicely. anyone at wilco hq listening?!?
  24. album is def a grower. upon first listen i felt the same way you did, matt (the z). after repeated listening, i'm finding i enjoy it more than neon bible, a record i really enjoy. impossible to top funeral, but this album has some real gems. keep listening.
