I also stayed at the Williamstown Motel. The communication between the owner and I before our stay was very strange. I think he was worried that we weren't going to show up (and he also realized he could make more $$ b/c of the high demand). Regardless, he was very kind when we arrived and the room was just fine. My father and I had a great time again this year. I want to say thanks to the many people near us on Saturday (up front, centerish) that not only made the rain tolerable, but turned the whole ordeal into a really entertaining/ pleasant experience. the track that jeff was playing solo, 'born to die alone', sounds soooooooo good with the full band. i never thought that that quiet acoustic number could become something so.... so wilco. it's great. and i think there were 3 new ones.... i might, whole love, and born to die alone.

i think we heard the title track tonight at solid sound. good, but i don't think it's the strongest of the new ones.

So.... Joe's field opens when the venue opens. I've got mixed feelings about this. It seems crazy to sit there all day, and unfair to put a chair down to reserve a spot. Speaking hypothetically... is it fair to assume that people won't congregate until the usual 1-2hrs before showtime? What is nice is that there won't be that mad dash to the front. That was dangerous last year.

I'll do my best to answer a few of your questions: You'll receive a bracelet, and the bracelet allows you to come and go as your please. They check bracelets on your way into Mass MoCa and also when you leave the museum lobby to go toward the outside area where the stages are. The Wilco shows are on the field. That line starts to form relatively early, but it seemed to me that once you got near the soundboard and further back it was more spacious. I'm not sure I'd leave a lot of belongings, but I'd probably feel comfortable leaving a chair or a blanket there. Last year I think Magic Hat

Someone told me that they supposedly heard a new single on some local college radio station. Apparently the dj introduced it as a "new Wilco song". The person who relayed the message to me isn't a big wilco fan, so she wouldn't really be able to differentiate a new single from a WTA track. Has anyone else heard anything???

i only got: blitzen trapper- maybe baby/soul singer 7" built to spill- ripple 7" almost picked up the lady gaga picture disc, but couldn't bring myself to spend the $10. in hindsight, i should've done it.

decent interview and performance, especially the bon jovi comments. jeff should really make a solo record.

I think I'm going to go to the NJ one. Lineup looks pretty good. Hate on DMB all you want, his show in Central Park might be the best show I've ever seen. Their last few studio efforts haven't been very good, but the intensity they bring to the stage is pretty special.
