Like all new The National material, I'm not totally crazy about it... but I'm sure this will change after a few listens, and I will think it's their best yet. I'm really excited for this album.

Seeing her tonight in Cambridge, MA. Can't wait.

that's how i feel about 99% of the suggestions here. i mean no offense to those recommending songs, but the last thing i want is for a night of wilco covering classic rock hits. a night of "deep tracks" or b-sides, however, would be pretty fantastic.

this is a heartbreaker. listening to songs: ohia now.

Email update from Higher Ground: Wilco's Friday Night Solid Sound Set to be All Requests We're excited to announce that Wilco's Friday night set will consist of 100% requested material from you, the fans! This includes Wilco songs as well as originals. Comedian John Hodgman will host the show and include a very special segment of "Stump The Band," in which he will take requests from the audience to see if the band can play them on the spot. This should make for an interesting set! Has the band ever done anything like this before (aside from the request page on the site)?

I felt this way for the longest time, then several months ago I took a video of 1 song at a show I was at. Since then, I've been on a mission to record 1 full song at each show I go to. I try and be courteous about not blocking anyone's view and don't really think that what i'm doing makes me a "bad fan." We all experience and appreciate the live music in different ways. This is a fun little mission, and I'm not causing harm to anyone else. You may enjoy the show by standing in place & bobbing your head up and down; I may enjoy the show by sharing a photo or video with friends. At the end

I think YLT would be the only band on the bill (except for Wilco, of course) that would keep a crowd around for Sunday. If not them, then probably Neko Case? MMW? I'm sure these details will come trickling in.
-
So, thoughts on YLT opening for Wilco one of the two nights?
-
I thought you were making a joke! I noticed you went back and edited, and now I look like a lunatic for misquoting you, and quoting jeff from a show a decade ago.

If at all possible, I think I love Jeff even more after listening to this.

Man, The Sinclair is such a great little venue. I'd love to see Jeff there-- though I think it's probably a little too small.

They have been really inconsistent with their communication with me for the past two months or so. We stayed there last year and it was great; I was hoping to return this year, but I'm really not sure what's going on.

I was referring to years previous--- sorry if that was unclear. I suppose the point I was trying to make is that SSF doesn't feature any band, aside from Wilco, that I actively seek out. maybe this year will be different... regardless, i'm totally stoked for 2 nights of wilco.

easy now, big guy. i never said the acts weren't any good... my point was that most of the bands on the bill are bands i've never heard of, and the ones i am familiar with, i'm not all that interested in seeing. & you're right the "wildly popular, completely shit act" i could go see is my favorite band, wilco.
-
I predict: A bunch of bands I've never heard of/ aren't interested in seeing.

2 tickets purchased! here's to hoping we get some lineup announcements in the near future!

Wilco to headline Snow Daze Festival in Vail, CO Dec 15
knotgreen replied to sonnyfeeling's topic in Just A Fan
Does anyone have any info regarding the preferred seating vs GA tickets? Preferred is sold out, and I'm wondering what spots are available for GA ticket holders. The site says that preferred holders get early entry to an area adjacent to the stage. I'd rather be in front of the stage vs adjacent to it... I'm thinking of flying to CO for this, but am hesitant if it means getting a lousy spot. Thanks! -
wow. i'm not looking to instigate the nels vs jay debate, but i will say that wilco are at their best with this sort of playing.

I want to add: I really hope some of the video that was recorded eventually surfaces! -

Last night was exactly what I hoped it would be. I was against the rail, between John and Pat's mic, and couldn't have been happier. I thought the latter part of the setlist was a bit more exciting and was particularly excited for "Wishful Thinking." Having only seen the Newport show on this leg of the tour, the band seemed way more excited. See you all at SSF3. -
What order do you put Wes Anderson's films in?
knotgreen replied to bttrbuffalo's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I've tried watching The Royal Tenenbaums on multiple occasions, and have never made it all the way through. I started The Darjeeling Limited and made it halfway through. I went to see Moonrise Kingdom in the theatre and think that it was one of the best movies I've seen in a very, very long time. Is this because MK is an atypical Wes Anderson movie? Which WA movie should I try next? -
does anyone have a guess to how hectic the parking is going to be? it's my hope to get there around 2pm. can't wait!
