He's in the Beatles documentary. I forget where exactly, but I think Ringo tells a few stories about him. He is also the reason they almost bought that island in Greece. Alexis Mardas

I think there's a George Harrison quote out there somewhere - possibly in that Rolling Stone issue devoted to his guitar collection - where he talks about such things. I think he said something like "I see guitars I may have held for 30 seconds being sold as a Beatles guitar by someone I don't know for lots of money". Magic Alex was quite the con man.

I don't recall seeing it in the Beatles gear book. (It is in the book - page 209. It's called a Kensington.)

There is a Who version of that song - but it is nowhere near as powerful as the demo. The sound on that recording is simply amazing.- 4 replies

My favorite Beatles movie: Help! Comes to Blu-Ray (I have to wonder why Billboard used a Sgt. Pepper photo instead of a Help! era photo.)

Hey, that's not the guitar you normally play.

I have often wondered about that myself. My guess is that they wanted him in the ad, instead of some unknown (not famous) session musician. -

Kicking Television (I took that Wilco photo with one of those disposable cameras.) The Dylan photo was used in a Fender advertisement (I think). -

Pittsburgh - 2003 my first Wilco show. The Flying V that SRV is holding is probably Albert King's guitar. -
I figure they are limiting how many of these they make because not that many people buy cds anymore, let alone boxsets. I would think it's mostly older people who have the bucks to spend who end up buying these releases. I am surprised Rhino is still putting out cds. I have to say I am sort of unhappy with them at the moment - due to the fact they are not releasing the Faces cds.

You have to wonder why the tapes have not been turned over by this point. I can understand getting off on having the original reels, but you would think by this time they would be ready to hand them over.

Two separate articles. One is with some guy who seemed to know the story of the tapes, and then there is the interview with Betty. I have not looked at the books in a while, so I could be wrong.

There is a long story about that in the The Deadhead's Taping Compendium (Volume 2). If I recall correctly, it was about money, and the band refused to pay.

There was an article on Billboard yesterday saying the ticket problems were not true. I have to say Lefsetz is not the only place I read that - as posted above by our friend from across the sea. There were reports that Keith was actually playing this time around, and not merely posing with his guitar. But I have also read that his playing is crap.

I will. I was watching/listening to Phish videos a lot last week.

I have that book. (Of course, there is a Beatles book like that - and a Stones book is coming out covering their gear.)
-
I think it may have been on one of those 5 dollar tables at Barnes and Noble. I don't recall exactly. I was looking at Grateful Dead Family Album book the other day. I wish they would have made the font bigger. It is hard to read. Still - there are some great photos in there.
-
I think I bought that book for next to nothing somewhere a few years ago. It's worse than Phil's book.
-
I wouldn't have thought they ever did that song live - but according to what I found online, they played it around 30 times.
-
He does have some good things to say though.
-
I noticed the Alabama show has that song Sunrise in the second set.
-
Lefsetz has been hammering them on the ticket prices. If they play Emotional Rescue again, people should ask for their money back.

Fleetwood Mac-Mick Fleetwood does not play alone

I've read there was a time when Judas Priest did the same thing. Also, back in the day, bands such as Aerosmith had keyboard players mostly hidden off to the side of the stage. The worst to me is singers not really singing (live). -
Beatles isolated tracks (for all the nerds)

Don't buy that one (unless you can get it for next to nothing). It was re-released a few years ago. And it is going to be re-released again this year. -
I forgot to order that deal.
