  1. I've read in various places over the years that the so-called punk rock people hated such bands. I suppose Bob is sort of like Mick Jagger - in that he stays current.
  2. That's pretty weird. You would think Joe would not be into the GD. I would say that photo could have been taken at the US Festival, but The Clash and The GD were not there at the same time. The GD played in 1982, The Clash in 1983. I bet it was the Jamaica World Music Festival in 1982.
  3. He also co-wrote the song Kokomo. He must have made some bucks off of that. There must be a name for that sort of clothing. It's the same sort of thing The Mamas and Papas wore at the Monterey Pop Festival.
  4. John Phillips wrote the song San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair). Scott and John were childhood friends, and they were also in a band together called The Journeymen. There's a great video from the time of that song where he is walking around in his man-dress and lip syncing the song.
  5. I don't know when exactly, but I broke the completist deal. When it comes to the GD - I like to dig around and find shows on Archive.org and be amazed. It's all good - as the kids say.
  6. That is what I was thinking.
  7. Has Bruce ever done that song acoustic before the other night (Boston, August the 15th)?
  8. You can search the In a Future Age section of this message board. Or Go to Wilcobase - then Venues - type Austin in the search box, and then click on the date. After that, scroll down until you see Audio Sources. You can also check out The Live Wilco Archive at the owl and bear - once you get the dates. I don't think some of the shows that we have are listed at Wilcobase.
  9. That is true. I've read that is hearing is pretty much shot all the way now.
  10. That's the ticket. Here is an old website with photos: Pete's Guitars.
  11. I suppose I am thinking of the great years of say - 1968-1973 or thereabouts. He was pretty much using SGs and Les Paul guitars during that period. There's a great idea for a book - a Who gear book like the Beatles and Grateful Dead books.
  12. Plus - he has been touring for the past couple of years. Since I am hung up on sounds, I will say those drums sound like shit. And I really wish Pete would go back to using Hi-Watt amps and Gibson guitars.
  13. I think there is a mention of his son and what college he goes to in that New Yorker article. I figure a lot of older bands use a Teleprompter these days.
  14. I know a guy who is a big Bruce fan and I think his first show was on that tour.
  15. I think I have read that book. The second rock book I ever owned (at the age of 12) - was The Who In Their Own Words. Which I still have, of course.
  16. Oh - it was alright. At least NBC showed most of it. We got to see Brian May tearing it up - that was cool. I had heard The Who were going to play. I guess I'll have to catch the video. And - Scary Spice. She is ok in my book.
  17. They should have cut all that 80s shit instead. Ha ha ha
  18. There is that famous case from 1980s where he went after some semi-big bootleg outfits.
  19. I was thinking it probably was at some point. I recall reading somewhere not to long ago that they were going to put up all the video from all the Farm Aid shows on Youtube.
  20. I can't recall if video from that show has appeared before now or not. The SBD from the show has been around for a while:
  21. This is certainly a surprise: Rolling Stone QA: Michael Nesmith on His Surprising Return To The Monkees And by way of Rhino.com:
  22. I was listening to Tracks the other day. I had not listened to that boxset in a long time. I still think the packaging is terrible. But - there are some great songs there. Iceman, Loose Ends, Wages of Sin, and that version of Stolen Car - great stuff.
