That book is great. I learned a lot of stuff I did not know about.
-
I acquired an e-book version of Tony Iommi's book (Iron Man: My Journey through Heaven and Hell with Black Sabbath) the other day. I think this may be the first rock book I have read on my Nook. I am glad I did not pay for it, because it is not that great. That Monkees book is great by the way. Towards the end it has a lot of information about Michael's early albums.

I have not listened to it yet. I figure I'll grab the new one along with the new Dylan album.
-
The second one is coming out in a couple of weeks:
-
I've heard of it, but not for someone such as Dylan. That video for Duquesne Whistle is horrible. It looks like a women's underwear commercial directed by David Lynch.
-
The cd I got back in the day is a promo copy. I'll take a photo of it one of these days.
-
Looks like they used another song also - Scarlet Town.

And speaking of Too Far To Care. . . Too Far To CAre (15th Anniversary of Too Far To Care special editions) It's hard to believe it's been that long. What a fantastic album.

That's from the Sessions at West 54th Street - Gram Parsons Tribute (1999).

I ran across that site yesterday - looking at some Beatles news. It's a good thing I don't jump to buy cds like I use to. -
I've read in various places over the years that the so-called punk rock people hated such bands. I suppose Bob is sort of like Mick Jagger - in that he stays current.

That's pretty weird. You would think Joe would not be into the GD. I would say that photo could have been taken at the US Festival, but The Clash and The GD were not there at the same time. The GD played in 1982, The Clash in 1983. I bet it was the Jamaica World Music Festival in 1982.

I'm up to The Face of Evil (Jan-Feb 1977). -
He also co-wrote the song Kokomo. He must have made some bucks off of that. There must be a name for that sort of clothing. It's the same sort of thing The Mamas and Papas wore at the Monterey Pop Festival.
-
John Phillips wrote the song San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair). Scott and John were childhood friends, and they were also in a band together called The Journeymen. There's a great video from the time of that song where he is walking around in his man-dress and lip syncing the song.

I don't know when exactly, but I broke the completist deal. When it comes to the GD - I like to dig around and find shows on Archive.org and be amazed. It's all good - as the kids say.

That is what I was thinking.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band

Has Bruce ever done that song acoustic before the other night (Boston, August the 15th)? -
You can search the In a Future Age section of this message board. Or Go to Wilcobase - then Venues - type Austin in the search box, and then click on the date. After that, scroll down until you see Audio Sources. You can also check out The Live Wilco Archive at the owl and bear - once you get the dates. I don't think some of the shows that we have are listed at Wilcobase.

That is true. I've read that is hearing is pretty much shot all the way now.

That's the ticket. Here is an old website with photos: Pete's Guitars.
-
I suppose I am thinking of the great years of say - 1968-1973 or thereabouts. He was pretty much using SGs and Les Paul guitars during that period. There's a great idea for a book - a Who gear book like the Beatles and Grateful Dead books.
-
Plus - he has been touring for the past couple of years. Since I am hung up on sounds, I will say those drums sound like shit. And I really wish Pete would go back to using Hi-Watt amps and Gibson guitars.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band
Analogman replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think there is a mention of his son and what college he goes to in that New Yorker article. I figure a lot of older bands use a Teleprompter these days.
