  1. I don't think they actually got booted, but who knows? That security guy definitely over-reacted though, it was pretty unprofessional. You wouldn't ever see that from a security person at any other festival/music event.
  2. Set was really great, the positive energy from last night and today really seemed to flow into tonights set. I particularly enjoyed the comments about Foxygen. For those who weren't there for Foxygen's set, the lead guy climbed the scaffolding during a song and Solid Sound security was none too happy about it. In a seperate incident, Jeff introduced himself to him and they apparently had no idea who he was, so Jeff was playfully ripping on them a bit. I think he thought it was funny. Interesting note: 7 Summerteeth songs, 2 YHF songs, ZERO Ghost is Born songs. I was almost convinced they wer
  3. The two lead singers of the band Lucius, who play today i believe.
  4. I think they would have played more wilco songs if more were requested, i hadn't heard of a single person requesting wilco songs though. The people spoke, and apparently, they all wanted covers.
  5. So happy they played my request (Marquee Moon)! Lost my shit when Tommy Stinson got on stage. Never thought i'd see Wilco cover ABBA, Pavement, and Daft Punk, let alone in the same show. Needless to say, i had the time of my life! Also, Kingpin was the perfect choice for the lone Wilco song of the set, kept the energy high, fit right in.
  6. Ya, only headliners get a soundcheck typically, but there were other bands who didn't soundcheck who sounded alright. Like i said, they weren't working in anything close to ideal conditions, i'm just looking forward to a great solid sound this weekend!
  7. Bonnaroo is probably my favorite festival in the US, and it holds an extra special place in my heart because i saw my first ever Wilco set there back in '09. That set was the catalyst that caused me to see Wilco close to 15 times over the next 4 years. Unfortunately, the conditions didn't quite seem to match up this time around. The band suffered from what i would politely call a "god awful mix". I hate to nitpick, but you shouldn't be wondering why a show is so quiet when you are standing a mere 30 feet from the soundboard. There was virtually no John in the mix, and Glen's kit sounded pret
  8. Calexico is playing the same day at Bonnaroo as wilco, i wonder if we can expect some horns there too! (I'll be there, which is why i'm really hoping for some "Monday" with horns)
  9. Just picked up two from the Mast Brothers shop in Brooklyn this morning. FYI, they were only $7 (still a lot for a candy bar, but better than 10). Only opened one so far, chocolate is pretty good, definitely very salty though. UPDATE: opened the 2nd, no gold ticket for me
  10. I already voted Marquee Moon, really hope that one happens. I also like the Pavement idea, but i have to think there's a better song for them to do than Gold Soundz. I think they'd do a great "Stereo", or maybe "The Hexx"!
  11. YES THIS! A "Stereo" cover would be hilarious
  12. To whoever was talking about AGIB being tracked individually: It was largely done live. There was a great thread on gearslutz a while back where engineer Chris Shaw talked about his experience tracking for the record. HERE is his original post, and he has another one with pictures HERE
  13. I can't tell from those pictures if Jeff is starting to look more like Jerry Garcia or a bearded James Mcnew. He's really lettin that hair grow long But setlist looks great! It's been a while since Jeff has done even a mini solo tour, hopefully, we'll see some solo dates post solid sound this year
  14. I've gone both years from just outside of NYC (westchester), and it's roughly a 4 hour drive for us, i'd probably tack on an extra half hour coming from the city.
  15. Unfortunately not, but you never know. I'm pumped about F for Foxygen though, one of my favorite new bands.
  16. Don't forget J or O for "Jim O'Rourke". That'd be a welcome surprise.
  17. I'm hoping this is the year Jim O'Rourke makes an appearance. I remember talking to the organizer of Solid Sound this past September, because he also puts on Grace Potters festival up in Vermont. I asked him about O'Rourke and he said that it comes up every year, it's just hard to get him out of Japan apparently.
  18. This would make a great fun, encore song. Great vocal harmonies, dueling guitars for pat and nels. I know it's campy, but it would be hilarious
  19. Was at a bar in Brooklyn this weekend when they started playing "Spiders", needless to say i lost my shit
  20. Very likely no Tweedy tonight either, for those hoping he stayed an extra night. Titus Andronicus just tweeted: "Tonight, every New Jersey indie rocker's dream comes true for @titus_ndronicus. #STAYTUNED." So that sounds like they'll be the 7th opener. Really bummed there were no NYC Tweedy appearances around the Colbert thing
  21. Went to YLT Hanukkah last night, was a pain to get out there. But if i knew for sure Jeff would be there, i'd be out there in a heartbeat. I was holding out for Nels & Thurston last night as guests, but The Feelies were pretty good.
  22. I give the smiths a 90% shot at getting in, but definitely not first ballot, not popular enough.
  23. As a hardcore springsteen fan, I can safely say Paul that you are my Backstreets. Let's get Wilco to do Incident on 57th!
  24. Had no idea of this, glad to be in NYC. I wonder if he lives over here now, he has seemed to play a lot of solo shows around the city for the last couple of years. He Probably moved in with Yuka now that i think about it
