  1. This tidbit from today's Wilco HQ mailing caught my eye: "And in just two weeks, they begin the last US leg of The Whole Love Tour with a 2-night stand at one of America's most gorgeous venues -- Red Rocks in Morrison, CO. From those epic Colorado nights through the end of summer, most of you will have one last chance to see the band for before they downshift into the semi-hiatus of recording mode for much of 2013." The Solid Sound festival is June 21-23, 2013. Sounds like the plan is to follow the 2011 template, with new songs debuting at Solid Sound and then a final album release in the
  2. "She's a Jar" is the prequel to "Bull Black Nova." Fact.
  3. Ah thank you! And an additional item from the FAQ: If I arrive early, what gate do I use? If you arrive early, before the Amphitheatre gates open, you may wait in line on the East Stairs. When arriving prior to the scheduled gate time, you will be directed to park in the Lower South Lot #2 -located furthest from the Amphitheatre. All entrances to the Amphitheatre open at the same time.
  4. Need some local knowledge here... We've been to several RR shows through the years (including Wilco in 2009) but always just arrived late in the day. This time we want to arrive early and ensure we can get spots in the first two rows. Anyone know when the parking lot opens, when and where lineup begins, etc?
  5. I checked for tickets a couple days before the show and there were still a thousand or so available. It wasn't sold out, but the first two tiers were completely full and the center section of the third tier was full as well. Based on the seating chart I would guess there were probably around 2400 attendees, plus or minus. Definitely more than 1300. The early curfew and the power glitch meant two songs were cut from the encores (which became just one encore). Had they actually followed the printed setlist, we would have heard Wilco (The Song) and Passenger Side (my request). Oh well. A plea
  6. Judy and I are in for both nights...
  7. 1) Miami - May 15 2) St Augustine - May 16 3) Red Rocks - June 22 4) Red Rocks - June 23 5) Hollywood Bowl - September 30 Coast to coast!!!
  8. Presale is today, Wednesday.
  9. Red You do have to wait in line, but everything is seated up front, and the lucky occupants who stake out places in the first two or three rows get hand stamps from security early on. Anyone who tries to move into those rows gets tossed quickly (and politely) by security if they don't have a stamp. The system works very well. There's a poser's pit of sorts in a very big gap between the seating area and the stage, set off by a barrier, where people with backstage passes can hang out. Because of the way the seats are tiered, this group doesn't block sight lines at all.
  10. Well, based on that Facebook picture and a quick perusal of the Red Rocks calendar, I think I can say with HIGH confidence that Wilco is playing Red Rocks on the weekend of June 22-23-24.That's "an early summer weekend." In fact, it's the only unbooked weekend of the early summer. The Avett Brothers are headlining on the 29th and 30th, String Cheese Incident is there on July 5-6-7, and Wilco is on the East Coast after that. So I've already got the weekend of June 22 penciled in my calendar. It's an easy drive for us. Of course, what would be REALLY cool would be a show at the Santa Fe Oper

  13. "I was unaware of the policy, so as Wilco opened at the sold-out Warfield, something felt off to me. Here were two thousand San Francisco hipsters, all turned attentively toward the stage – but most of them had their hands in their pockets! As the band went into the impossible-not-to-move-to “Art of Almost” and “I Might,” I started wondering what was up – why weren’t people at least swaying?! The music was extraordinary, the sound system perfectly tuned. But everyone seemed very intent on…well…being intent. They stared forward, hands in pocket, nodded their heads a bit, but no one danced. It w
  14. Laminated Cat and Not for the Season are pretty much one and the same. A little history here: http://somesongsconsidered.com/post/88085581/laminated-cat-loose-fur-words-jeff-tweedy For example, on the "official" track list for the Roadcase recording of the 2010 Prague show, it's listed as Not for the Season: http://wilcoworld.net/#!/roadcase/divadlo-archa-prague-cz/ But on the printed setlist on stage, it appears as "Laminated."
  15. Last year my wife and I flew in to Albany and rented a car. The drive to North Adams is very easy, and it's convenient to have wheels if you're staying a few miles outside of town as we were. I had to go to NYC after the festival, so my wife dropped me off at Amtrak in Albany where I took another train to Penn Station. I agree with everyone else here. The train station is a long way from the airport and it's not al all easy to move between the two locations.
  16. Chris Isaak (my high school debate partner) has a pretty good list of acting credits. Also, Cher. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Oh, and Jeff Bridges is an actor who can sing.
  17. Um... It's been just a WEE BIT MORE than a month. Not a good sign...
  18. So, will there be a Solid Sound 2012? If so, what dates? Last year, the official announcement was sent out on December 10 (more than six months before the event) and tickets were on sale in mid-January. So far this year, nothing via e-mail, Nothing. Nothing. (Repeat 32x) By contrast, the announcement for 2010 was made in April, about four months before the event. Nothing on http://solidsoundfestival.com/ and nothing on Wilco's Facebook page, either, except for a recent comment from some guy who says he talked to John at an Autumn Defense gig "and he said they weren't sure if they were go
  19. I've been listening to audience recordings since the early 1970s. Your Lincoln Hall recording was exceptionally good and really captured the ambience of the room. That feeling of being there is something that a soundboard recording just can't re-create. Please do put up that second source! And thanks so much for sharing. We attended the first two shows but weren't able to stay in town all week, so experiencing them vicariously like this is very, very special.
  20. I read that while flying to Chicago last week to see Wilco at the Civic Opera and the Riviera. Too bad the premise is fatally flawed. Wilco did not exist in 1991. Jeff Tweedy and John Stirratt were both in Uncle Tupelo at that point and would continue to be there until 1994. Hitchens would have caught that.
  21. Judy and I are in town for this show and tomorrow night's festivities at the Riviera. We're in mezzanine box 12, on Nels' side of the stage. Excited!
  22. Just sent you a PM. Can meet you at the show. Let's talk today...
  23. I mean December 11, of course, as in tonight! One seat on the floor, next to the soundboard, the other is a nosebleed balcony seat. Face value, of course. DM me for deets.
