Cool! The stump the band part should be fun. I agree - some variety would be great.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I'll add that I liked Okemah... but not much else since his first two Son Volt records. And I saw them twice, years ago - good, solid shows. But nothing mind-blowing. They played their songs well. They walked off stage. I guess this is why I have not seen them since, because they did not move me. I realize others may have had a different experience.

I have not seen the Allman Brothers band since the late/80s and early 90s. I remember some kick-ass shows from that period, and I remember that they played forever - the shows (happily) seemed never-ending. And to think that I thought Gregg looked old then.........

Two days of Solid Sound > Zero days of Solid Sound So you won't want to leave, and Sunday will wrap up the whole enchilada nicely. But you get to see Wilco twice, and many other acts to boot. Oh, and the art, the unique vibe of the Berkshires, the free yogurt and chips (one can hope for this again), the beer......the list goes on and on. And by leaving Sunday, it will make you want to come back to the next one. Nothing wrong with that!

I am thinking the same thing. And maybe a few more special guests from some of the other acts as well (I hope).

Wilco — 7/25/12, New York, NY (Terminal 5)
The Inside of Outside replied to bböp's topic in After The Show
I have been revisiting this in the Roadcase recently. A fantastic setlist - I can't think of a better one from the last few years. So many of my favorites - Laminated Cat, She's A Jar, Kamera, Too Far Apart, At Least That's What You Said, Theologians, What's The World Got In Store, Capitol City - and that list doesn't include anything from the fantastic encores. For those of you who were there, you got to see a great one. Let's hope for a few gems like these at SS III! -
Jay was so much fun to watch in concert - riveting, really. I watched him more than anyone else when he was in the band. I think that this is the reason why my least favorite Wilco show that I attended was the first one I saw after he left. There was a void for me. It took me a few shows to get over his departure.

Solid Sound '13 Performers?
The Inside of Outside replied to worldrecordplayer's topic in Just A Fan
Not out to crush hopes, but I don't see a solo set happening either. If I remember right, at SS I there was one Wilco and one solo Jeff show, and at SS II there were two nights of Wilco. I'd lay money that we'll get the announced two nights of Wilco this June and no solo set. For SS II, the acts were announced on March 1st. From looking back through the threads here from that time two years ago, it looks like the daily schedule for the show came out a few weeks before the show, in early June. -

I am not a fan of Magic Hat either; I don't remember what I was drinking at SS II, but I remember it tasted good. -
Solid Sound '13 Performers?
The Inside of Outside replied to worldrecordplayer's topic in Just A Fan
As several people noted before, this is a great lineup, and many Wilco fans will probably find it stronger than the first two. It looks like fewer bands/artists than the previous festivals (I did not count, so no data to back that up), but more contemporary bands/artists with good-sized followings, like MMW, YLT, and Neko Case. And they still have the ones from left field (Os Mutantes, Foxygen, Lucius) and the vets (The Dream Syndicate, The Relatives, and I guess Os Mutantes fits here, too). Should be a great time. And, if they bring back the free yogurt, free butter, and free sweet potato -
I thought Elton John was, by far, the weakest part of the performance.

Loved seeing Mavis Staples and Brittany Howard on stage together, singing "The Weight". Gotta say Mumford and Sons are growing on me, too. The Grammys have had some decent moments tonight, none better than the tribute to Levon. So, so glad some of my children got to see him at SS II.

How goes it, Northeasterners?
The Inside of Outside replied to kidsmoke's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Storm has moved on to New Brunswick, CA. Left behind 31.9 inches in Portland. With the wind (wild wind gusts today, 50+ mph), how they got it identified as 31.9 inches is beyond me. Drifting was crazy. Looks like we got less than that here just north of Portland - maybe 26 inches or so. Kids have built a snow tunnel/fort that should last a while. -
When do you expect new tour to be announced?
The Inside of Outside replied to ripthisjoint908's topic in Just A Fan
Here is what we know: From Wilco's Facebook page, 12/31/12: Thank you all for a fantastic 2012. We've got a lot to look forward to in 2013 -- including a new record, another Solid Sound Festival, and bunch more gigs and other surprises. Happy New Year to all from the band and the HQ crew. Cheers! and.... Earlier in 2012, they announced that 2013 was going to be devoted to fewer tour dates (excepting SS and Australia/Japan, which had been scheduled) as they focus on making the new record. So...now moving away from facts...I would not expect much in the way of touring before the fall. M -
Sounds like a great, great night, Shug.

3 inches on the ground here, just north of Portland. Heavy stuff is supposed to hit after midnight. -
Jukebox the Ghost in Portland, Maine at the Port City Music Hall.

Looks like the Recording Academy might be doing something right in their Grammys telecast..... http://www.pollstar.com/news_article.aspx?ID=804104 Elton John, Mumford & Sons To Pay Tribute To Helm Elton John and Mumford & Sons will hit the Grammys stage to pay tribute to Levon Helm. The Recording Academy announced Thursday that T Bone Burnett, Mavis Staples, Zac Brown and Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes will also perform “The Weight” at Sunday’s awards ceremony in Los Angeles. Helm was the drummer and singer for The Band. He died of complications from cancer last year at age 71

2013 Baseball season!!!
The Inside of Outside replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I know that this isn't funny when you really think about it, but it did make me laugh out loud when I read it. -
He sold out the State Theater up the road in Portland, Maine, a couple of years ago (capacity - 1450). Fairly quickly, too. I think the Wilbur is a similar size, so that would be perfect.

Whats your take on Impossible Germany?
The Inside of Outside replied to roadhse ma's topic in Just A Fan
This pretty much says it for me. And I can't think of a go-to Wilco piss break song for me. I try my best to hold it in, frankly. Between the opening band and Wilco is the time for that business. Except the "Evening with..." shows. I remember going during Airline to Heaven; I had little choice in that - my kids had to go. I love that a thread about one song has turned into a referendum on piss break songs. Crow is right - we need a new album..... -
Hot Stove League 2012-2013!!!

Bummer. Weaver was a part of my childhood - putting the hat backwards so he could get closer to the umpire to yell at him was classic. Stan Musial was my dad's favorite ballplayer. I saw him in Cooperstown in '85 at the HOF induction for Enos Slaughter and Lou Brock. He was a class act. -

That was a fun read. Lots of exclamation points.
