  1. It also drives people to fly planes into buildings. Glorifying violence and war is not a good thing. Ever. We should have learned from experience and evolved beyond it by now.
  2. You've got some nice pedals. My live rig has always been pretty simple. Tuner, Holy Grail Reverb, Seymour Duncan Boost, Crybaby Wah through a Marshall JCM 800 I bought new in '88. Got a Fender Blues Jr for a practice amp. Love it. The Fuzz Factory was a late addition. I love what other guys do with effects, but I've never had the patience to do it myself. It's funny - since I bought the Tweedy Martin last year my other stuff's gathering dust. I can't put it down. Great dark tone for fingerpicking.
  3. Thanks, man! Did you ever get your Fuzz Factory to play well with the others?
  4. This is Aretha from a great album of rare & unreleased recordings. I love how raw it is: And this is Mahalia Jackson live in '61
  5. Well there are the obvious ones like Aretha, Mahalia Jackson and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Emmylou Harris and of course the Wilson sisters. Maria McKee has a great voice. I also love a girl named Harriet Wheeler. She sang for The Sundays. There's something about her voice that gets me every time. Again, not taking anything away from Neko - she certainly belongs in their company.
  6. I saw her at Solid Sound. She's got a phenomenal voice & I've loved her music for years, but I think "greatest of all time" might be going a bit far. Still, to each their own.
  7. I love Neko, but I wouldn't go that far. I'm really bummed that I couldn't make the Boston show last night...

  9. I'm sure there are some intelligent republicans, but they're sure as hell not the ones running for office - or did you miss the R candidates for the last election? Bigoted young earth creationists, suspicious of science. Idiots all. You can keep banging on about Benghazi & broken websites, but never forget that you're supporting a party whose ideology is largely based on their faith and, ironically enough, greed. They pander to the stupid, racist, bible-thumping cretins who desperately want a theocracy (Christian, of course) and genuinely believe in end times prophecies. They shouldn't
  10. But those are SMART people! You know - the intellectual elitists & "experts". They talk about scary things like evolution, climate change, gender equality, facts, reality, etc. They're not to be trusted.
  11. Hey, thanks!! Doing this under heavy distraction and my HTML is very rusty.

  13. Hmmm. Speaking of common goals and beliefs...Religious zealots who are fiercely anti-science, anti-intellectual, anti-gay, and anti-women's rights. Good thing there's nothing like that in THIS country!
  14. Well then, Bush had 13 "mini 9/11" under his watch. Dozens of deaths. Plus the actual 9/11, of course. I'm sure the GOP was just as obsessed with all of those. Surely they blamed Bush and called for Rice to step down, right? 'Cos otherwise they'd be a bunch of hypocrites. Right?
  15. Sad news. Not a very nice man, but he made some great music. Gonna put some Lou on when I get home. It's a shame his swan song was that awful Metallica collaboration. Edit: Man, I just put on Transformer. Perfect Day is a tough listen today...
  16. You bring up a good point about it possibly being a stringing technique issue, but I have to disagree regarding the tuners. As far as I know, Gibson installs tuners made by Kluson, not Grover, and they are most definitely inferior. They do look the same, but there's absolutely a difference. After I made the change on one of my Les Pauls, I was so happy that I did it on two others and a J-30 acoustic. No more problems. It was actually my luthier who recommended that I try it, and I tend to listen to him. The man's a master.
  17. I seem to remember reading that they had some sort of disagreement with the US musician's union or something like that early in their career. It killed their ability to tour, which resulted in their albums being either unreleased or unpromoted here. It's a shame.
