  1. I grabbed 4 for Saturday. Couldn't do all three days, unfortunately. Hoping for a good lineup, but as you said, unloading them should be easy enough if it's not interesting.
  2. Yeah, and not knowing the lineup in advance doesn't make it any better. I'm thinking of picking up some tix for Saturday...
  3. I don't think he ever got a chance to peak. I love the "First Rays..." stuff he was doing at the end . The man was just getting started.
  4. Have you listened to Hunky Dory or The Man Who Sold The World? Both are absolute classics.
  5. I love Shovels and Rope. Fantastic harmonies. I saw their ACL set on TV a while back and they look like they're a lot of fun live. This is one of my favorites of their songs:
  6. You won't be disappointed - I've seen BT three times now, and they always deliver. I've only seen DBT once when they opened for The Black Crowes back around '06. They were good then, but I'm looking forward to seeing them in a smaller venue.
  7. They just announced a spring tour with Blitzen Trapper opening. What a great double bill! Got my tickets for Toad's Place in New Haven.
  8. Thanks Joe. Peace is already a shattered and distant dream - we're at the in-laws this evening and the chaos has begun. Best wishes to you & yours!
  9. Right on. I've read that book referenced in Mr. Draper's article. Pretty shocking stuff. It was surprisingly hard to find a single link to an unbiased source for information on the subject. Both sides have their agendas and tend to exaggerate in one direction or the other. Such is the internet, I guess. And people.
  10. I may be wrong, but wasn't there some other group the Nazis were more interested in persecuting? A group that wasn't exactly popular with Catholics either? Some priests may have resisted, but they didn't do it on orders from the Vatican. I'm honestly not trying to offend you or anyone else here - I was just responding to the tired old "can't be good without Jesus" nonsense.
  11. Letter from Pope Pius Xii to Hitler: To the illustrious, Herr Adolf Hitler, Führer and Chancellor of the German Reich! Here at the beginning of our pontificate we wish to assure you that we remain devoted to the spiritual welfare of the German people entrusted to your leadership. For them we implore God the Almighty to grant them that true felicity which springs from religion. We recall with great pleasure the many years we spent in Germany as Apostolic Nuncio, when we did all in our power to establish harmonious relations between Church and State. Now that the responsibilities of our pastor
  12. Really? It's common knowledge. Fully documented. In fact, i seem to remember the Vatican apologizing (many, many years later). You can google it. However, if it's sources you want, I'll be happy to oblige after dinner.
  13. I can never tell if these people are completely uneducated or simply lying to manipulate the uneducated. The Nazis? "Gott mit uns" - right on their belt buckles. They had the the support of the Catholic Church before, during and after WWII.
  14. Funny and original, Jules! Adding plenty to the conversation as usual. You could use that image to reference itself.
  15. Yeah, Babyhead was awesome. I saw some great shows there. The Mother Love Bone connection was the reason I went to the show. I was a huge fan, and the ad in the paper said "Pearl Jam (featuring members of MLB)". Also, since Temple of the Dog had just been released I figured it might be a secret gig type thing. As insufferable and Stipe-like as he later became, Vedder was really cool that night. Offered me and a friend beer from their cooler after the show. The whole band was nice. I still have the Blaylock shirt I bought from Jeff Ament, and since I signed their mailing list they sent me th
  16. I'm just the opposite. I loved everything they did up through No Codes, then they kinda lost me. I saw them live in Providence (Club Babyhead) shortly before Ten was released. Summer of '91, I believe, and even though I had never heard any of the material before, it still ranks among the greatest live performances I've ever seen. They were just glowing - practically levitating. There were about 20 people in the club. When the album came out a while later, I recognized every song they had played that night.
  17. Probably the same percentage who watch and believe Fox News (and who are so lonely they'll take part in phone surveys just to have someone to talk to) so I doubt they were ever his to lose. Polls mean nothing. A huge chunk of our population is dangerously stupid, uninformed and determined to stay that way.
  18. Exactly. The Beatles will always be my number one. Pure, timeless genius. Wilco is probably my favorite band currently working. Certainly the best live band, and the only one I'll travel a fair distance to see every chance I get.
  19. All of my dogs, past and present. Particularly Fletch, who passed on a couple of years ago.
