You Lucky British Bastards
twoshedsjackson replied to Mr. Heartbreak's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
As cool as it sounds and as awesome as I'd love it to be, I'm going to agree with John and Clem - it's all about the money. I seem to remember reading that Cleese's last divorce cost him dearly, and since he was always the hold-out on any reunion talks... -

Yes, thanks for this! I signed their list at Solud Sound too, but have yet to receive an email. I just ordered two for me and my wife. -
Are we in a new golden age of mainstream pop?
twoshedsjackson replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
I'd say it's more of a golden shower than a golden age. -
Hey, you got Louris on my Olson!!...

It's not worth the effort, dude. I'm pretty sure I can guess, and if I were you I'd be embarrassed to admit it too. It's funny - you paint yourself as some independent thinker who's annoyed with the GOP and doesn't watch Fox, but literally everything you say is Fox-grade derp, in lock-step with the GOP.

I guess I missed that. Could you enlighten me? A simple for or against will do. Also, perhaps the reason people aren't blaming Obama much for military deaths is because he didn't start two wars under false pretenses and send soldiers over there to begin with? I mean, that's just a guess. Maybe it's just all those damned liberals being mean...

You, sir, just nailed it.

And the others who died? People working for the US in our embassies/consulates? What, collateral damage? This is off topic, but I have to ask because I want to know who I'm arguing with and if it's worth it: What are your views on, say, climate change? Gay marriage? Women's reproductive rights?Evolution?

Did you actually read any of that? Americans were killed - and your complete lack of concern for the dozens of local employees and police/security forces who also died says a lot about you and your mindset.

So only the lives of ambassadors count? http://www.policymic.com/mobile/articles/40811/13-benghazis-happened-under-president-bush-and-fox-news-said-nothing

It's a living hell. Thankfully, they seem to be tiring of her and her shouty little bastard sidekick Diego.

I don't speak Spanish just yet, but through the magic of having young children I've been watching a fair amount of Dora the Explorer, so I expect to be fluent soon.

Maybe not a documentary (although I'm eagerly awaiting the Solid Sound film), but I'll always welcome new concert footage - especially Jeff solo shows. A full concert would be great.

lets see pics of your gear

Cool! -
I listen mostly to the live stuff too. I hope some of Jeff's upcoming solo shows get the Roadcase treatment.

musicians are not holy deities
twoshedsjackson replied to Radiant Witch Face's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Yup. Unfortunately, sometimes you have to separate the art from the artist - and it's not always easy. There are several biographies that I wish I'd never read. Really, nothing is worth worshipping - least of all people. Music comes pretty close for me, though. -

True. He'd have to behave MUCH worse to compete with anything I've heard about the "real" god. -
I just had to google that name (not a sports fan). What a gent, eh?

Virtual? No.

How many concerts do you attend in a normal year?
twoshedsjackson replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I feel the same way. One reason I enjoyed Solid Sound so much was the complete absence of douches. At least I didn't see any - except for that Foxygen kid. -
Enablers!! Mostly it's down to finding a babysitter. All the usual suspects have school the next day, so it's tough. My wife (also an enabler) told me I should go alone, but that feels less than chivalrous as she's a fan too.

I really want to see them in Boston, but I doubt I'll make it as it's a Thursday night. Bummer.I've only recently discovered them, and I can't get enough. My wife likes them too. I'm listening to Fate at work right now, in fact.

Like most of you, I can't get to as many shows as I used to due to work, kids, etc. When I was younger it was pretty much weekly. These days it's maybe 6 or 7 a year, depending on who's touring. -
Sorry, that's not what I meant. My point was that not all "make-believe" play is healthy. I'm sure serial killers and mass murderers indulge in their fair share. Those pilots, by the way, were most definitely brought up in a culture that glorifies violence & martyrdom, and there's more than a little unhealthy make-believe involved in believing you're going to be rewarded with virgins in some afterlife for killing innocents.
