I missed last year's show, very much looking forward to tonight. I know I'll have fun, and I'll file a report.

I'd be happy to be the firing officer on that sub. I grew up on LI, graduated h.s. in '75, Piano Man territory. I really couldn't stand his music then, and I still can't. Much to the chagrin of a lot of my friends who think he's "a great performer" and have no idea why he makes me want to vomit. Feel the same way about the Eagles. Joe Walsh solo is a different story. Tonight for me, Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker at the Middle East, Cambridge MA.

I want to buy at least one of these Tweedy shows, so I guess I'll get the last one if that's a complete show. Unless anyone who was there suggests to get one of the others instead.

Grateful Dead, Go To Heaven. I'd put it up buy I'm on a phone. An abomination. Maybe they thought it was ironic or funny or something but I could never look at that cover. After all those years of Kelly/Mouse and Rick Griffin covers, yuck. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk -
That is interesting, and weird. Must be some royalty or contractual issue with WTA?

Tweedy solo announced for Mountain Jam

Oh, don't get your brow all furrowed, all in jest. I'm certainly not going to know the ins and outs of those metal fests you go to. -

I've had the impression from various Instagram and FB postings that time has been spent in the Loft laying tracks. I thin Nels wrote on FB several weeks back that he was in the Loft recording guitar tracks. I would love to see some tour dates, I'm in need of several Wilco shows. -

Gee that Solid Sound, why does Wilco play that every time?! -
July 4th weekend? Ugh. Couldn't pick a worse weekend. I hope someone talks some sense to them.

Favorite Beatles moments: February 9, 1964 and February 16, 1964, February 23, 1964 and September 12, 1965. The Ed Sullivan Show performances. I was 6 years old for the 1964 performances, but already a music fan and Beatles fan. I still remember my parents waking me up to bring me downstairs to the den to watch with the whole family, and being absolutely mesmerized. Lifelong Beatles fan. http://www.edsullivan.com/artists/the-beatles

I very much hope you are correct about that. Lodging and traffic would be extremely tough. Not to mention my own family schedule that weekend.

Jeff Tweedy solo announced for Mountain Jam, June 5-8, Hunter Mountain, NY. Wonder what, if anything, this means for more Tweedy solo dates and Wilco touring schedule? http://www.jambase.com/Articles/120440/Mountain-Jam-2014-RatDog-Mule-Avetts-Tweedy-And-More

It occurred to me that it would be very easy to say, "We're not doing it this year." So the continued silence has me thinking that maybe, just maybe, they are putting it together for '14. Wishful Thinking? Probably, but I'll keep some degree of hope alive until they snuff it out officially.

The diversity of our musical heritage and interests here on Via Chicago has been eye opening to me. The power of Wilco. -

A few that come quickly to mind, and having been reminded of in perusing some of the posts here: Hot Tuna-Hot Tuna, we always called it "Acoustic" Beatles-Meet the Beatles (not their first official release, but was the first U.S. release so I count it). I still remember the day I first heard this at 6 years old REM-Murmer Elvis Costello/Attractions-My Aim is True Wilco-AM Allman Brothers-The Allman Brothers Band Pretenders-Pretenders New Riders-NRPS The Clash-The Clash English Beat-I Just Can't Stop It -
I would have liked to have heard him. Masterful fingerpicking guitar man Jorma on Thursday night, would have been nice to go back to back nights with Gunn.
-
I was there, last minute call. My experience was different. Missed Gunn. Didn't think Ranaldo was all that good. Not that familiar with all his stuff, but really didn't like the new songs, which I was hearing for the first time. Last/first time I saw him Lee Ranaldo Band, in summer of 2012 opening for Wilco in Hartford I was blown away. Had no expectations, hadn't heard any of the new album and ended up liking all those songs a lot. Was surprised how empty it was there. And then to cap it off, at the end of the night, found my car had been towed.

The Allmans having been a "tribute band" over these last many years is so far from my reality I don't even know where to start. And there's no point trying to convince, or arguing about it. Plus, if I started I'd spend all day on it and I have work to do. So, I'll just respectfully disagree and enjoy the music.
-
They just keep on Truckin. Jorma's acoustic picking still never ceases to amaze.
-
Great show by the Tuna boys. If I had to choose back in the day, I'd always prefer electric Tuna. But over the years, Jorma's electric playing leaves me a little frustrated as I don't feel the electric sparks flying off the fretboard like I used to. But there's nothing about his acoustic playing that doesn't leave me as blown away as when I first saw them acoustic almost 40 years ago at the Academy of Music. Me too, I think. Don't have a ticket yet.

I've had zillions of great concert experiences, but the thrill of being in the Beacon when Clapton came out on stage to play a blistering set with the Allmans may be the pinnacle. Sad to hear that Warren and Derek are departing, but thankful for the many great evenings in the company of this band. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/120385/Throwback-Thursday-Allman-Brothers-Band-With-Eric-Clapton

I cannot fathom that the ABB will continue beyond 2014 with a new guitar lineup. Seems ridiculous to me. But, I do note that Warren and Derek's announcements were not accompanied by any announcement by the Band that 2014 will be there 45th and final year, so we shall see.
