I recently started listening to Mac DeMarco (just missed seeing him in Tel Aviv, actually) - and he's a neat musician, I hope to see him. Aside from that, Richard Thompson of course and then Taj Mahal are high priority for me. From there I'll probably have to make choices based on scheduling. Also, relevant question, are the Autumn Defense playing or just speaking about the Lomax films? If they are playing, they are top of my non-Wilco/Tweedy list. Saw them at SS '10 I think, but I wasn't really a listener of theirs at the time.

That happened twice recently. He said it at the Tallahassee show (at which point I got super excited as I had flooded the box for "Magazine Called Sunset" - then he played...I think I'm Always in Love? Either way, not the song I requested, though they did play that later. Then it happened again in St. Augustine, but I again forget which song he was referring to. Heavy Metal Drummer, maybe? But they always play that.

Was dipping my toes into the Winterlude shows last weekend, really great stuff there. Now I'm listening to 1/9/00 at Lounge Ax, band is starting out sort of flat, let's see if they get better.

I know I'm not the only one who likes to indulge in some live Wilco recordings. Love playing them while I'm doing computer work, as well, or just hanging around. Anyway, what's set or era of live Wilco are you currently "spinning"? I'm listening to 4/23/99 show from the Avalon Theatre in Boston, interesting contrast from the current set up what with the influence of Jay Bennett and his piano (though he is sometimes hitting the guitar as well)

Ah, yeah, though I will say, I missed Orlando and that seems better than the WPB show. St. Aug was a great show, I also really enjoyed the city, believe it or not I had never been. Nice little place.

I think it's worth noting your recent Florida circuit for the 4 shows they did down here. I was pretty impressed when you told me you'd driven to all 4.

10 to Soundadvice Ampitheater (or whatever it is called these days) to see night 1 of their tour with Dylan and My Morning Jacket is the shortest. Longest is Solid Sound, FL to Massachusetts, that's over a 1000 miles I know. Though I think an honorable mention should go to the recent St. Augustine show, where I drove 3 and a half hours on almost no notice after I got free tickets on Twitter. That's just as long as the flight up north, even longer, though I usually fly into NJ or NY and drive up to Solid Sound with friends. Or Boston, but still a two hour drive from Boston as well.

Oops, I picked digital delivery. So I guess I should be waiting on an e-mail. I feel like they send the paper tickets out first, easier to deal with digital delivery (actually it is probably automated)

Oy, still waiting on mine. Now I am starting to get nervous.

Very exciting news

I started listening to Kraftwerk after watching this, just to try them out. Wasn't really my bag, but totally see where Jeff was coming from when he explains the Krautrock influence in this video. Cool video series, also.

Just wondering, since it's been a long time since my last SS, it's basically an all day commitment if one wants to be super up close to the stage, yeah? I imagine folks sit there and wait all day for that. Once you are in like the front row for a Wilco show, it's hard to go back to not doing so. It's addictive. They got me hooked.

Oh, we were probably there at the same time then. They ordered right after my friend and I and then they left shortly before us. They were very nice.

Oh, one quick question, since I haven't been since 2010 (and that year I really only saw the Wilco show and the Jeff Tweedy solo set) - So, are the band members just walking around and hanging out during the day? I know they all bring their families, but, are they accesible to the public? Furthermore, is it frowned upon to go and say hi to them/ask for pictures? The last thng I would want to do would be to impose on them.

Also, as far as driving. I've never driven to SS from far away, but I have driven in the Berkshires plenty (most recently last year when I saw Beck at Mass MoCa) - I'll just say that there are lots of long and winding roads that aren't super well-lit at night. In the day these roads are beautiful and you see some amazing scenery, at night it can be kind of a hassle. My best friend's grandparents live in Lenox, and he goes to Williams, but I think we are staying in Lenox for that weekend (or both places) - but either way for previous Sold Sounds and for Beck show we stayed in Lenox. Y'know, I've thought about this a lot. I mean, I play guitar, I'm alright. Until recently I was pretty bad about memorizing stuff, though part of that was not having much knowledge of theory (I fixed that though) - but obviously I'm not even on the same planet as anyone in Wilco. But, probably muscle memory, having played these songs 1000s of times, and then just knowing musically what comes next as a combination of musical knowledge and knowing the songs.
