  1. I remember hearing a lot about the Ducky Boys, but not in a long time. I wonder how much the disparity of success between these two bands has anything to do with the relative coolness of their band names?
  2. Can't....control.....laughter......any........longer... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
  3. #4 is higher than OSU probably deserves right now, but the O seems to be gaining confidence each week.(and the D is nasty) I've been a doubter so far this season, but if this team keeps improving, who knows?
  4. What does the new stuff sound like. Seems like they've been moving in a (relatively) folky direction over the course of their career. I saw them a couple times when they were first starting out and they were definitely fun, but I don't find myself listening to those first albums too much anymore. Blacklist, however, seems to keep popping up on my ipod and I'm constantly surprised how much I like it.
  5. I was considering getting tickets for this. What was so "boo-worthy"?
  6. Thanks, Lou. Great read to start of a Friday morning at work.
  7. Yeah, me too. I think the general reaction around Columbus has been "Huh? WTF??" I thought I had seen it all regarding player misconduct/arrests, but this is a new one.
  8. I dunno, oceanman, it doesn't really make me angry, per se. I didn't really mean to be snotty about my comment about buying one of those remastered discs from Bobby. It was the first one of those I've purchased--I've seen other bands doing it before and it never really appealed to me to spend more money for a recording of a show I had already paid for a ticket to. I bought this one sort of as an experiment--the AUD I listened to didn't sound the greatest, and so I tried buying the mastered version from the website to see what it was like and I was actually pretty pleased with it. It sounds
  9. I'm still shaking my head about OSU's 3rd sting QB getting arrested for soliciting a prostitute in the parking lot of Kroghetto down on on 6th and High. I'm not really sure what to think of this "scandal". Personally, I really don't care so much that he was looking for a hooker. Its more of a WTF moment in the sense that, dude, you're on the frigging football team and have already seen a fair amount of playing time as a freshman. Did he not get the memo that he probably doesn't have to, you know, pay for it? Oh well. Methinks its all an ingenious plan for use later on in his career afte
  10. Each vote for Being There should count twice, thereby making it a much closer race with YHF.
  11. I've always been a fan of how after the line "I've run out of metaphors" there is a big gap where the lyrics would otherwise be. Its gimmicky, but it works.
  12. We had some nasty thunderstorms in Columbus last night and the temps were supposed to drop down into the 70s today and for the foreseeable future, but we're still in the 80s and all the future forecast temps have inched up a few degrees, too. I can live with that, tho. I'm just done with the 90s and humidity.
  13. Interesting. My daughter got bitten by something last week right between the eyes and the poor thing looked like she had a baseball growing out of her forehead all week. So its not just Chicago, we're in Columbus.
  14. "Hey, man. Check out those other bands over there with their little girly beards. Hahahahahahaha!!! Sissies!"
  15. I bought a recording of the Bobby show I was at this summer. It sounds much better than the AUD recording I had downloaded of that show.
  16. Perhaps they were playing a gig with Barenakedladies, whose fans like to throw mac & cheese. What should Wilco throw? Napkins? Juice boxes?
  17. I fell prey to that one once in college. As I recall, the sales girl was particularly hawt/flirty and I wound up with a $50 subscription to Spin or some shite like that. Sucks to feel like you got scammed. But I'll give you another word of advice--when you get out of college and are looking for a job and find an ad with the word "marketing" in it, that just means you're signing up to be one of those people.
  18. Nice. And I just got the notice that my tix for Columbus have shipped.
  19. I could see them doing those Instant Live type things that some bands do where you can buy a cd shortly after the show or download it from the website at some point. I've bought a few of those and think they're kind of cool. With most bands, I mostly collect recordings of shows I was at--and the particularly good ones its cool to have a super-clean version of. Aside from that, nah, I don't know that Wilco needs to concentrate too much on live albums. I mean, it would be interesting to hear them release live recordings from different eras of the band since they've gone through so many ch
  20. Being There is still tops for me. The rest are all tied for second.
  21. I'm pretty sure it said they will be mailed out 2 weeks prior to the event. Its been a while since I got paper tickets through the mail--I had nearly forgotten about the experience of worrying whether or not they will get lost en route.
  22. I think I'm ready for fall. August was enough of a scorcher to even make me--a summer-a-holic--get a little tired of it. Fall is wonderful, except for the part about leading into winter. Winter is cute up through the first couple snowfalls, but wears out its welcome with me rather quickly.
