  1. I've lost interest in Kozelek's music a while ago - and he seemed pretty unpleasant - but he's a fucking creep. https://pitchfork.com/news/mark-kozelek-of-sun-kil-moon-accused-of-sexual-misconduct-by-three-women/
  2. And I forgot to mention that Dr. John was the opener.
  3. And now I'm on to this. Mainly about two guys in their 60s talking and drinking and talking and drinking.
  4. Agree with you that there was sometimes too much inside information. And it's a tough task - there is so much written about Churchill/WWII/the Blitz that it is hard to come up with something fresh.
  5. Also notable that it was my first Wilco show! I have a recording of it but I'm guessing this one is better. I'll give it a listen.
  6. https://pitchfork.com/news/lou-reed-new-york-reissue-announced/ Rhino has announced a reissue of Lou Reed’s 1989 album, New York. The 3xCD/DVD/2xLP deluxe edition arrives September 25. New York: Deluxe Edition features the first-ever remastered recordings of the album, 26 unreleased studio and live tracks, and a DVD of the long out-of-print “The New York Album” concert film, which features Reed performing the album in Montreal at the Theatre St. Denis. The reissue also includes a hardcover book produced by Laurie Anderson, Don Fleming, Bill Ingot, Jason Stern, and the late Hal Willner, wit
  7. Put this on for the first time in a while. There's some great stuff on it.
  8. Analogman - love your take on The Splendid and the Vile. I'll say, I liked it quite a bit. I appreciate that it was focused one a single year and that it focused on the details and the people rather than just the big picture.
  9. I thought the Golden Age was great.
  10. Inspired by my own comment in the Grateful Dead thread, what was your first concert? Mine was the Jerry Garcia Band in Boston 40 years ago tonight. If nothing else, I heard Tangled Up in Blue for the first time and bought Blood on the Tracks the next day.
  11. I do like the new one Quickies. (And yes, it's 28 songs over 46 minutes with the shortest being 17 seconds and the longest being 2:35.) I'm mixed on the 50 Song Memoir. I think it has some of their best stuff ever but it also has some filler.
  12. I saw my first concert ever 40 years ago tonight: Jerry Garcia Band at the Orpheum in Boston.
  13. You are going deep into the Feelies' family! That album has some good stuff on it. I love Spinning.
  14. I've been enjoying the Deadcast. They're doing a song-by-song look at Workingman's Dead. There is some good background stuff and interviews. https://www.dead.net/deadcast
  15. From the Replacements FB page: Following up last year’s DEAD MAN’S POP, PLEASED TO MEET ME (DELUXE EDITION) will be available as a 3 CD/1LP set and digitally on October 9! More than half of the music (29 of the 55 tracks) on this deluxe edition set is unreleased material, including demos, rough mixes, and outtakes, as well as Bob Stinson’s last recordings with The Replacements from 1986. 16. I'm about halfway through the Larson book so I'll check back. I'd love to hear what you think. My dad is a big Churchill guy and thought it was well done.
  17. I tend to alternate between fiction and non-fiction, as well as between books that make me focus on today's social storm and those that are a break from it. That said, here's what I am currently reading:
  18. David Byrne - American Utopia soundtrack
  19. Nice long piece in Rolling Stone about the 2+ hours of Workingmans era studio rehearsals being released as part of the 50th anniversary. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/grateful-dead-workingmans-dead-reissue-angels-share-1011483/ Songs are on Spotify but also streaming on Stereogum: https://www.stereogum.com/2089937/grateful-dead-workingmans-dead-the-angels-share/music/
  20. Ha! Not surprised that you beat me to it ...
