  1. I'll put in a plug for Bill Janovitz's (from Buffalo Tom) book on Exile On Main Street. It goes through the album song by song and is definitely written from a musician's perspective. It's well written and well done.
  2. I love Yo La Tengo (and this album) but I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass is not a great album title.
  3. Having watched the Red Sox try a bullpen by committee in 2003 - and failing pretty miserably - I think it changes the dynamic of the pitching staff pretty significantly knowing that there is a real closer who can shut down the other team late in the game.
  4. Saw Lucinda last night and I have sort of mixed feelings about it. Her voice was great, the band was great, and the sound in the theater was spectacular. And yet somehow the whole thing was somewhat underwhelming. It was solid but it didn't leave me wanting more. One question: it was my first time seeing her and she certainly appeared to be reading lyrics from a notebook on the stage. Does she always do this? Set list (that I got from another board): Rescue Ventura Fruits of My Labor Car Wheels on a Gravel Road Those Three Days Out of Touch Righteously Essence Real Live Bleeding Fin
  5. They just need someone to fill in until Roger Clemens returns.
  6. Do you know Squirrel Bait? They have a very tasty cover of that song on their album Skag Heaven.
  7. That is one of my favorite CVB songs - and I haven't heard it ina while.
  8. Nice choice. I often think that Grant Hart's songwriting is not given enough credit for the success of the Huskers.
  9. This remains my favorite REM song of all time. And what was the deal with Buck launching his amp into the audience?
  10. Didn't think it deserved its own thread, but there was a funny quote from an interview with Grace Slick that was in today's Boston Globe. Q In 2004, music magazine Blender called Starship's number one song "We Built This City" [which Slick did not write] the worst song of all time. What do you think of that assessment? A When I sing a song, I like to believe in the lyrics, and I think "We Built This City" is one of the stupidest songs ever written. I don't know if it's the worst, but it's right up there.
  11. 1. 1 2. 4 3. 8 4. 9 5. 27 (And 42 ...)
  12. Have you never tried? As for me, after a few listens I find it rewarding, relaxed, and fruitful.
  13. I love Burma but they are not all that soothing ...
  14. I know it's late and I was going to hold off until May but it turns out that I'm not all that patient. I'd love the link by PM. EDIT: thanks TTL and Analogman!!
  15. There is info and one MP3 here: Redd Blood Cells
  16. Who knew they were so big in Luxembourg?!?!
  17. I am about 150 pages in and really enjoying it. It is pretty intense.
  18. Have you ever heard Redd Blood Cells? The bass player from Redd Kross added bass to the tracks from White Blood Cells. I heard it a while back and some of it was actually pretty good.
