I saw them do the soundtrack in Boston and I wonder if it could work outdoors. The movie is more of a presentation with slides and there are film clips embedded into it. The filmmaker is off to one side of the screen narrating and advancing the slides and YLT was over on the other side playing.

Had a marathon last night and watched the last five episodes of Season 2 of Homeland. Wow - didn't see that coming ... Just a side note - I find it interesting how many of the actors are British.

I was driving around North Carolina earlier this week on a little road trip and at one point the China Cat->Rider from Europe 72 came up on shuffle. I know there are overdubs and everything but man that is a great driving song.

I don't know Joyce personally - but I know her work from Pernice to First Night to Elizabeth Warren to all things Dorchester to this - and she's a treasure.

I'll be the outlier here. I like the Condo Fucks but don't love it. I mean, I like when they mix a noisy punk/garage/rock cover into a set but if I went to see YLT and they played a whole set of Condo Fucks, I think I'd be a little disappointed. Believe me, I'd rather see that than a Seinfeld reading but my preference would be to see a regular old YLT set. That said, I really liked their Freewheeling Yo La Tengo tour where they took requests and answered questions. At the show in Boston they did an acoustic version of Nuclear War that I'm still thinking about.

Saw the show last night in Boston and it was fantastic; I really love this band. As with most of this tour they opened with a quieter/acoustic set (including a tasty cover of Balancing Act by 1980s Boston band Volcano Suns) and a great version of Ohm. Then they took a break, came back, and plugged in the guitars for a loud second set. That set also included a version of Ohm and ended with a 15+ minute guitar freakout of Pass the Hatchet I Think I’m Goodkind.
