At the Paradise (with Stamey, Maimone, and Fier)?

I saw them do Odyssey live back in 1998 or so. It was pretty great.

Derek and the Dominos - Keep on Growing. On the original vinyl I have (and have listened to a thousand times) there is no shout but on the remaster someone (Bobby Whitlock maybe?) shouts out "whoooo" just after the intro right as the song gets going. I cracked up the first time I heard it. I'm generally not a big Clapton fan and while I don't love the Layla album there are a few songs on it that I think are fantastic, Keep on Growing being one of them. -

Wait - really?! I've got to pay more attention to shows.

My friend asked whether Grumpy was filling in for Scott Spillane.

Ha! Funny - I was 7th row right on the center aisle. And yes, it was a fantastic show. Quite a collection of instruments they had.

I know I'm repeating myself but Neutral Milk Hotel! remphish1 - how was it?

I remember at the time reading an interview where they said their next album was going to be called Go To Hell and they would all be dressed in devil's costumes. Glad that never happened ...

In the Pixies' Monkey's Gone to Heaven I love how Black Francis says "Rock me Joe" before Joey Santiago's solo. -
Artists you only like 1 or 2 songs from
Oil Can Boyd replied to Atticus's topic in Someone Else's Song
Not sure this belongs here or in the blasphemy thread. Heroes is one of my favorite songs by any artist but I don't really care for David Bowie. I don't dislike him but he doesn't do much for me. -
Nice! I'm going Thursday and pretty excited about it.

A Thread for Musical Blasphemy you Truly Believe
Oil Can Boyd replied to hardwood floor's topic in Someone Else's Song
I'm not sure this is blasphemy but the only thing of Clapton's that I ever listen to is Derek and the Dominoes. And I only like about half of that album. -
I suppose I could jump into the musical blasphemy thread as well. There was a lot to like about this movie but I also felt it was lacking. I felt like it got behind the scenes of Chris Bell but didn't really dig into Alex Chilton. Definitely worth seeing if you are a fan though ...

Great new collection of short stories by Tom Perrotta.

Agreed. I listen to WL/WH as much as I listen to any VU album. (That said, I'm not sure I'm going to get any of the deluxe editions that just came out.) -

Actors in the least amount of crappy movies
Oil Can Boyd replied to Atticus's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Percentage-wise you have to go with John Cazale. He was in five movies before he died of cancer: Godfather, The Conversation, Godfather II, Dog Day Afternoon, and Deer Hunter. They were all nominated for Best Picture. -
According to Gordon Edes: "Source close to negotiations said Sox offered Ellsbury a six-year deal for less than $120 million. A 5 yr/100m offer also was on table." But Nick Cafardo at the Globe writes "The Red Sox were never comfortable crossing the five-year, $100 million mark, though we still don’t know what their final offer was."
