  2. Saw her play this album last night and it was terrific. She ended with Jesse Winchester's "My Songbird" which was tremendous.

  4. Waaa? I gotta look into that ... For me (all in the Boston area): Slint Emmylou Harris Feelies Buffalo Tom
  5. By far the most I've ever spent on a ticket was the approximately $200 I spent for my daughter to go see Taylor Swift last summer. For a show that I actually attended I'm guessing it was Neil Young/Wilco which I think was about $75.
  6. I went to New Orleans for the first time a couple of weeks ago so I thought I should read this.
  7. Agreed - and I love it. I know people who never use it and I am the opposite. I listen on shuffle probably half the time I'm listening to music.
  8. Looks like April 24 is the date (and there are a bunch of other guests): http://www.avclub.com/article/yo-la-tengo-will-also-be-part-parks-and-recreation-202769
  9. A couple of months ago I saw a great lecture/performance by Wynton Marsalis called "New Orleans: the Birth of Jazz." Much of it was a lecture but he had a crack band with him and as he talked about specific pieces of music or explained how a song sounded when it was played in different styles, the band would play. It was pretty illuminating. These names may mean more to others but his band was Lucien Barbarin (trombone), Jonathan Batiste (piano), Troy Davis (drums), Vince Giordano (tuba/bass), Victor Goines (reeds), Ricky Gordon (percussion), Marcus Printup (cornet), Don Vappie (banjo/guit
  10. For the first time since 1998 the Yankees do not have the highest payroll in baseball.
  11. That quote was from 1974 based on a show at the Harvard Square Theater in Cambridge. http://web.archive.org/web/20030202021626/http://home.theboots.net/theboots/articles/future.html
  12. One of my musical regrets is that I ignored my cousin when he urged me to go see that show at TTs.

  14. Weird - it initially showed up then was gone. In any case, 20 Feet From Stardom is what I watched ...
  15. Finally saw this and thought it was great.
  16. I was there on 12/30 when they did Hard to Handle and Tell Mama.
  17. I sent you a PM but haven't heard back. Get me your address in whatever way works and I'll send it out to you.
  18. More Tanya Donelly/Throwing Muses, this time in NYC.
  19. I keep a lot of books but I also donate some to my local library (and they sell them to make money for the library). I figured this one could find a good home here.
  20. Yes indeed. And Buffalo Tom's Bill Janovitz will be sitting in on a couple of songs with Tanya too.
  21. Throwing Muses (with Tanya Donelly opening)
  22. I'm happy to send you this copy of you want it.
  23. Someone gave me a copy of this and while I'm not the biggest ABB fan I read it over the past few days. It was pretty good. I'd say my interest in the book tracked my interest in the band: I found the early stuff with Duane pretty fascinating and then it became less interesting to me. The drugs and the infighting and the crappy albums and the personnel changes ... Anyone want a copy? I won't read it again and I'm happy to send it to the first person to drop me a note.
