  1. Agreed. I listen to WL/WH as much as I listen to any VU album. (That said, I'm not sure I'm going to get any of the deluxe editions that just came out.)

  3. Love the studio version of Black Eye (top 5 Uncle Tupelo song for me) but don't really like Jeff's solo live version

  5. Percentage-wise you have to go with John Cazale. He was in five movies before he died of cancer: Godfather, The Conversation, Godfather II, Dog Day Afternoon, and Deer Hunter. They were all nominated for Best Picture.
  6. According to Gordon Edes: "Source close to negotiations said Sox offered Ellsbury a six-year deal for less than $120 million. A 5 yr/100m offer also was on table." But Nick Cafardo at the Globe writes "The Red Sox were never comfortable crossing the five-year, $100 million mark, though we still don’t know what their final offer was."
  7. Ellsbury to Yankees - 7 years/$153 million http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/10075982/jacoby-ellsbury-new-york-yankees-agree-contract
  8. I agree with the first three of these statements and I'm on the fence on the fourth. If my local record store had it in stock the other day I probably would have bought it. Maybe I'll get it from itunes or something.
  9. I haven't watched the whole thing yet but there is some great stuff.
  10. Talking Heads vs. Television A BBC Channel 4 production from 1984. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyaPRx5fNlQ#t=673
  11. I thought it was fantastic. We were on the floor on the side and the sound was great. I went up closer on the left side at one point and the sound was not as good; it got muddier as I got closer. Weird crowd. People pretty into it during the songs but between songs it was really quiet, both on stage and in the audience. It actually wasn't as loud as I thought it was going to be.
  12. Very nice piece from Laurie Anderson: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/laurie-andersons-farewell-to-lou-reed-a-rolling-stone-exclusive-20131106
  13. Answered my own question - it's called Last Time.
  14. Do any of you Neko show-goers know that last song that Lucy Wainwright Roche played? It was stunning.
  15. It was a great show. What a voice. And her harmonies with Kelly Hogan are sublime. Not one but two Heart covers ...
  16. Dan Shaughnessy's closing comments from his Spring training preview of this year's Red Sox team: "Sorry. The juice glass is half-empty today. These guys could be really bad. And really boring. “Scrappy” doesn’t sell in Boston in 2013. Not after everything that’s happened. For $170 million, a little more prime-time talent would have been nice."
  17. Still in shock that it happened. I knew they would be better than last year but did not expect this.
  18. I didn't realize that Uehara hadn’t picked a runner off all season and that he had only done it twice in his career ...
