  1. Very nice piece from Laurie Anderson: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/laurie-andersons-farewell-to-lou-reed-a-rolling-stone-exclusive-20131106
  2. Answered my own question - it's called Last Time.
  3. Do any of you Neko show-goers know that last song that Lucy Wainwright Roche played? It was stunning.
  4. It was a great show. What a voice. And her harmonies with Kelly Hogan are sublime. Not one but two Heart covers ...
  5. Dan Shaughnessy's closing comments from his Spring training preview of this year's Red Sox team: "Sorry. The juice glass is half-empty today. These guys could be really bad. And really boring. “Scrappy” doesn’t sell in Boston in 2013. Not after everything that’s happened. For $170 million, a little more prime-time talent would have been nice."
  6. Still in shock that it happened. I knew they would be better than last year but did not expect this.
  7. I didn't realize that Uehara hadn’t picked a runner off all season and that he had only done it twice in his career ...
  8. Yup, he was one of the cornerstones of my musical likes.
  9. I forgot Leyland managed the Pirates and Bonds. So to combine the Pirates and smoking gets to this picture:
  10. Pearl Jam week on Jimmy Fallon: We'll kick things off on October 21 with Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell performing "Footsteps" backed by members of the Avett Brothers. On October 22, Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold will break a long hiatus from performing when he covers "Corduroy" backed by special guests. Then on October 23, country superstar Dierks Bentley will team up with Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and the Roots for a one-of-a-kind performance. The week will culminate with Pearl Jam returning to the "Late Night" stage on October 24 and 25 to debut music from "Lightning Bolt,
  11. Seeing him smoke was great, as was seeing players smoke.
  12. I am going to Boston, two weeks from tonight.
  13. Here Comes a Regular - Replacements Summer - Buffalo Tom
  14. Weird trivia related to Ortiz's grand slam: the four runs were charged to four different pitchers.
  15. I really like Chabon - and given the subject matter I thought I was going to love this one - but I really struggled with it.
  16. They just announced a Boston area show - and they are playing at the TD Garden (which has a capacity of probably 18,000+ for a concert). I had no idea they were so popular.
  17. The Boston show got a pretty good review: http://www.bostonglobe.com/arts/music/2013/10/10/brian-wilson-and-jeff-beck-deliver-virtuoso-night-music/c3yafmK6D74szfKz7UhsmN/story.html The Love is gone, as in Mike, playing state fair tents with his Beach Boys jukebox. But Brian Wilson’s family is growing. He already has the better band and now he’s got Al Jardine, the only Beach Boy whose vocal powers remain undiminished. And at the Wang Theatre Wednesday night, Wilson’s group threw us a curve ball Clayton Kershaw couldn’t snap off on six days rest. A few songs into his set, Wilson called onto s
  18. The promo email I got was announcing Pixies tickets going on sale and then right below it announcing Breeders tickets going on sale ...
  19. I worried a little when the Red Sox lost game 3 because the Rays' pitching can be so dominant so I was glad they closed it out last night. Back in the spring some analyst wrote about how Koji Uehara could be the key to the Red Sox pitching staff and boy was that right. He had quite a remarkable season.
  20. Interesting idea. Kristin Hersh (Throwing Muses) does something similar. I still listen to Your Favorite Music pretty regularly.
