  1. It's about a 20 minute walk from the North End to Charlestown/Bunker Hill, and there is pretty much only one way to go - take North Washington Street to the Charlestown Bridge. Turn right on the other side of the bridge to go to the USS Constitution or take a slightly less sharp right turn and go up the hill to the Bunker Hill Monument. The walk is OK. There are nice views from the bridge but there can also be lots of traffic.
  2. Just started this last night and so far it is pretty intense.
  3. Nice job, as always. The back of my head is certainly in that lower photo. That is the angle we had for the show.
  4. Saw Neko last Thursday night in Boston and, as always, it was great. It wasn't that different from other recent shows of hers that I have seen but it was a fun night. She played a lot of stuff from Middle Cyclone and a couple of songs I didn't recognize. She didn't introduce them so I don't know of they were covers or new songs. Her voice sounded great (except for a couple of notes which she acknowledged were off) and her harmonies with Kelly Hogan are sublime. Her band was sharp and the banter was funny. Couldn't ask for more. The opening band - Lost In the Trees - was interesting.
  5. Buffalo Tom is giving away a free EP on their website in advance of their new album.
  6. First link is actually to a jewelry store in Georgia ... But I'd be interested in reading it because for the most part I agree with you on torrents. They seem to fit with my obsessive personality but it became overwhelming quickly.
  7. They'll go to spring training with the Padres?
  8. I always liked this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTH71AAxXmM
  9. 12th row, orchestra 1. But perhaps the best thing for me was that my 16 year old son said he wants to come ...
  10. I hadn't listened to this in a little while but I put in on today and I still really like it.
  11. Grant Hart in house fire Musician Grant Hart suffers house fire The Hüsker Dü veteran is out of the hospital and sorting through the damage at his South St. Paul home. Twin Cities musician Grant Hart suffered a two-room fire at his home in South St. Paul and was temporarily hospitalized Wednesday, but friends say the Hüsker Dü veteran is doing alright now and sorting through the damage. The South Metro Fire Department responded to an emergency call at the house at 2:43 p.m. and arrived to find fire and smoke coming out of a window. Friends said Hart, 49, is happy that his two cats surv
  12. CBGB Lives - as an overpriced slice of pizza. From Gothamist: Two Boots (the one at 74 Bleecker Street) is introducing a "CBGB (OMFUG)" pizza, to be unveiled this Friday by Lenny Kaye, best known for being a part of the Patti Smith Group. What toppings go with dark clubs, dirty bathrooms, and the smell of stale beer? They're going with chicken, broccoli, garlic and basil pesto. Why? Because the first letter in each ingredient spell out CBGB. And it's time to loosen those pursestrings nostalgic punks: one slice will cost you $3.75. This is all just kind of... depressing.
  13. This is not meant to sound as snarky as it might sound, but are you saying you saw it again?
  14. I hadn't seen this movie in a long time but it's still great.
  15. I love WL/WH and the Velvets might be the only one who do it for me. I also love all four of the Feelies albums but I can appreciate your point. Talking Heads come pretty close, if it wasn't for True Stories. That might be an interesting related thread - bands who put out one stinker of an album that otherwise mars their legacy.
  16. They stayed on Sanchez long enough to show him wiping a booger on Mark Brunell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHtttx6P7kg&feature=player_embedded
  17. New album out on March 29 Though it's been plugging along for a couple of years now, the Feelies reunion is finally hitting jangle pop fans full force. In 2008, when the reunited band got together to play their first gigs in 16 years, singer Glenn Mercer hinted that the group might record some new material but the Feelies were fairly mum about the project until just recently. Last November a Facebook update from the act's publicist confirmed that the group had just completed recording tracks at a Hoboken, NJ studio. It turns out that those songs will now make up the Feelies new album Here
  18. I'd agree with you on Vernon Wells, but it was no secret that the Angels were going to go after both Carl Crawford and Adrian Beltre.
  19. Nice write-up and pics. I was bummed when I learned I was going to be out of town for this show. I like Camper's early stuff but I also really like Key Lime Pie.
  20. I know I'm really late to the party on this but I picked it up over the weekend and really like it. I think 40 Days Dream is my favorite song on it.
