Ladies and Gentlemen - your 0-6 Red Sox ...

There's a great story about that cover shot. Brad, from the great Boston-based blog Bradley's Almanac, took that shot and posted it on Flickr. Either Low or Sub Pop saw it, and asked him if they could use it (and paid him for it).

Sunday Morning - Velvet Underground Blue Monday - New Order

You might be mixing up Low with the Low Anthem. (That said, they can both be sort of sleepy.)

And another good source is Be My Demon

Any idea on dates (or when they'll be announced)?

Thinking about it. I'm definitely going to see Buffalo Tom on Friday and two shows in three days may not be in the cards. Are you going (and shooting)?

Nice interview with Watt in the VIllage Voice. Referencing ATP he says "Also, me and Georgie got asked by this Neutral Milk guy--sorry, I don't know his name. Neutral Milk Hotel? He's curating All Tomorrow's Parties Festival in December and he asked me and Georgie, as a duo, to do some Minutemen songs."

Finally watched We Jam Econo last night, and it's great. I like how Watt calls D. Boon "D. Boon" all the time instead of D or Boon. I also like how D. Boon refers to "Michael Snipe" of REM.

What a great band these guys were ...

The criticism of the book is that it is not balanced. I didn't think it needed to be though; to me it was non-political. It is really good reporting on what it was like for a small group of people living in Hiroshima at the time. Most editions have an additional section from the mid-1980s where Hersey went back and followed up on the people that were in the original piece.

Tim Thomas has been great. And his 70s porn star mustache is looking pretty awesome too!

This, too, is a pretty great book ...

Some random thoughts from me: Really enjoyed the show but my 16 year old son was sort of nonplussed. It was his first show of any kind and I realized it probably wasn't the best introduction to live Wilco/Tweedy music. Any more crowd singing would have annoyed me. Loved seeing You Are Not Alone. Black Eye is one of my favorite songs in Tweedy's catalog but the album version is much much better that the live version. The clapping seal guy was right behind me and he really didn't have much sense of rhythm. I thought the crowd was good for a solo acoustic show. Enthusiastic at the right t

According to pitchfork and Rolling Stone he's got a new album coming out in June. From Pitchfork: Folksy Bon Iver mastermind Justin Vernon has certainly kept busy as of late, but it's been more than a minute since we've heard any word on the follow-up to Bon Iver's 2009 EP Blood Bank. Now, a Rolling Stone article sheds a bit of light on Bon Iver's forthcoming LP. The as-yet-untitled ten-song record is set for release some time in June. According to Rolling Stone, experimental saxophonist Colin Stetson and pedal-steel guitarist Greg Leisz (Wilco, Joni Mitchell) were tapped to contribute t

How about one about COOL covers?
Oil Can Boyd replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Someone Else's Song
It's not really a cover because it's just a snippet but I recently listened to an old episode of This American Life and it included David Sedaris singing the Oscar Mayer bologna song in the voice of Billie Holiday. Man did I laugh ... -

I'm a big fan of both Cale and Paris 1919. Stan Demeski (drummer for the Feelies and Luna (who opened for the Velvet Underground reunion tour)) wrote this on his facebook page: "Happy Birthday to the only VU member who wouldn't talk to the opening band." He then added "Cale gave me a hard time about signing my un-peeled banana cover too. Last night of the tour I asked him, he said no then asked who I was. He relented a few minutes later."
