Whatever happened to Leroy? Is he still involved with music is some capacity?

I've downloaded Springsteen shows through Nugs before, but haven't streamed anything. I also saw where Jason Isbell has starting putting shows up on there as well. Do you know if the Springsteen and Isbell shows are available to stream also? Might be worth the subscription now that Wilco is on there.

I'm a huge fan of Star Wars. It was the loud, loose album I was waiting for this lineup to make and I would gladly take more like it. I even loved the way they just dropped it unexpectedly and avoided the normal press, they played the whole thing top to bottom every night and let the music speak for it self. All that said, I agree that if you combine the rock of Star Wars with the song writing of Schmilco, you've got an incredible album.

I think the surprise release of Star Wars a few years ago spoiled me so that I'm always hopeful they'll drop a new record unannounced, although I think sadly that was a one time thing.

Also, maybe I missed something, but I saw you refer to some possible new music. I knew they'd been recording, but should we (hopefully) be expecting a new record soon?

For those that have already purchased, do the downloads include digital copies of the liner notes? Or have those that purchased the physical discs found download codes. Trying to decides which versions to get, thanks.

I haven't bought a CD in a long time and would really like to get the liner notes for these reissues. Does anyone know if the deluxe edition CD sets include download links or anything?

My two and half year old has always liked Springsteen, particularly late '70's stuff. Lately she's really liked Wilco (The Album), especially Wilco (The Song). It's been awesome catching her around the house singing "Wilco will love you, baby." I was very proud the other day when my wife said she asked to listen to Wilco in her car, rather than the usual top 40 Country radio she listens to.

I totally agree that the time period surrounding AGIB is one that I've always wanted to know more about. It's my favorite album and with so much written regarding YHF it's surprising that there's not a little more out there. Hopefully this will shed some light on the creation of AGIB and also some of the behind the scenes stories of Pat and Nels joining up. The obsessive fan in me wants to know this stuff.

I've been listening to a lot of Stones lately, mainly the Beggar's Banquet through Exile years, and wanted to know if anybody had any reccommendations for a good site to download some Stone's shows? Appreciate any help.

I met Glenn, Nels, Mikhal and John last October in Nashville. They were all super nice and very cool, took some pictures and chatted for a few moments about the show. For whatever reason as my friend and I were standing for a pic with John I blurted out "are you the shortest member of Wilco?" He laughed it off and said yeah I guess I am. After he walked away my friend and I kept laughing at what a stupid comment it was. A few months later Wilco was touring in Europe and John tweeted several times about how tall everyone was an how short he felt, so maybe I was onto something.

I don't think what's been said is a knock on Nels at all. If anything I've come to appreciate him even more because of his ability to contribute subtle tones rather than just shred away and overplay. It says a lot about a guitarist who is incredibly talented, yet willing to take a backseat in service to the song. What I am saying is that I really like Jeff's stlye, particularly from A Ghost Is Born and wish he would step out a little more with lead guitar work. Did Pat and Nels join at the same time or were there shows with one before the other? I think I've grown so accustomed to these songs with the arrangements of the current lineup that its very interesting to go back to some of the boots from the four piece period, or even after Mike joined. I love the current lineup, but I'm also a big fan of Tweedy's guitar playing and the stripped down sound from that era. Also, how did Nels and Pat join? I realize there was a connection to Pat from the Autumn Defense, but I've always been curious how Nels hooked up with Wilco.

Let me preface this by saying that the current Wilco lineup is by far my favorite and I hope it stays intact for many, many more albums. But with the recent YHF tenth anniversary it made me wonder what Wilco would have sounded like had Jay Bennett stayed around for another album or so. As a relatively new poster I've noticed many on here consistantly rank Wilco (The Album) at or near the bottom of the catalogue. I generally agree that it was a disppointment and was curious why others feel this way. Personally, my problem with it is that it never felt like a coherent album, rather a collection of songs. I wouldn't personally call any of Wilco's previous releases a "concept" album, to me thats reserved for things like Sgt. Pepper's or The Who's "Tommy." I've been surprised at the SBS hate also. I have mixed feelings on the record. When it was first released it wasn't necessarily the album I was expecting from the relatively new (at that time) lineup, and I think because of that I was mildly disappointed. But like all great pieces of art it isn't about what the audience expected, rather what the artist was inspired to produce at that particular point in their career. No one is a better showman than Springsteen. On his first tour back with the E Street Band in 99 he would send Clarence Clemons out and he would ask the crowd to rise, almost like a church service, then the band would crank it up. It was very moving and an awesome way to kick off a rock show that felt like so much more than just a rock show. Also, I always liked it when Wilco would open with Wilco (The Song), and at the end they would pause and a voice would inroduce each band member by name. It was an awesome, almost funny, way to introduce the band during a tongue in cheek song.

I've read that The Ties That Bind was all finished, ready to be released, then at the abslute last minute Springsteen changed his mind and recorded more songs. I believe I read once that he wanted The River to have the feel of their live shows, so he added a few more rockers, stuff that would be fun to play live. Not much love for Wilco (The Album). I agree it seems a bit uneven, a collection of songs rather than a thematically unified album, but the first half of it has some great songs.
