It's...OBAMA - BAYH (according to Drudge)
bleedorange replied to uncle wilco's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I don't really remember from years past, but has there always been this much of a circus surrounding a VP pick? It's ridiculous. -

Yeah, that seems like an odd choice.

There are nutjobs everywhere. McCain Denver office evacuated after letter threat.

From USA today a new interpretation of the Beatles
bleedorange replied to John Smith's topic in Someone Else's Song
You're right! How dare someone give his personal interpretation of music he loves! -
Devil in the White City is a great book. I bought Larson's next book, Thunderstruck, but haven't gotten around to reading it yet (for another idea).

What's the price of gas where you are?

$3.39 at Costco in Fort Worth. -
The desecration of an absolute children's classic is the sad thing there.

You're right. They're all strong. Separation Sunday will always be my favorite, though.

I think Stay Positive is better than Almost Killed Me (but it's close). But even though I think it's their third best, it's still better than a lot of the stuff that's out there. I still haven't been able to embrace "Both Crosses" and "One For the Cutters" is merely average, but the rest of the songs are great. Factor in the bonus tracks (which may or may not be fair) and it's a great album. I'm surprised you were disappointed in This Gift. There is a bit more of a sheen on the album that sacrifices a little of the rawness from past albums, but I think the fuller sound balances her voice

Same here. It's been that way for me for the last two albums now. And I hope they don't give Shonna any songs on future albums.

It never ceases to amaze me...

But I don't see how having a child with this woman would prevent that. And I don't see a campaign aide claiming to be the father and assuming all the added responsibility just to protect Edwards's shot at obtaining a cabinet position. -

I guess that's possible, but what would be the point? There's nothing to protect. He's not a Senator anymore, nor a Pres or VP candidate. -

I don't know which part of this story is worse...the actual affair or the fact that Edwards and his campaign aide were tag-teaming this woman. -

Whatever you think, it's safe to say that they have some good reporting over there at The National Enquirer. -
The "I so don't care about the Olympics" thread
bleedorange replied to bjorn_skurj's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
It depends on what you mean by not caring. I haven't cared about medal counts or anything like that since I was a kid in the 80s and we had to beat the Russians in everything. Since then, though, it's just fun watching sports and competition that you don't ordinarily get to see. Especially on such a global stage. And it's still fun to root for the USA. -
I'm kind of amazed at the amount of dislike for At Mount Zoomer on this thread. I don't think it hits the highs of Apologies, but it's a great album. And I think only one person has mentioned Trouble in Dreams, which is also surprising. Then again, I am a little confounded by the absolute lovefest for Bon Iver, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about BEST OF THE BEST Aimee Mann - @#%&*! Smilers Beck - Modern Guilt Black Mountain - In the Future Constantines - Kensington Heights Destroyer - Trouble in Dreams Dodos - Visiter The Hold Steady - Stay Positive My Morning Jacket -

It may be overrated, but every time the Rangers bring C.J. Wilson in, I have to cover my eyes.

Basically.

Well, aside from being the star of an internet video sensation, I would disagree.
